Chapter 16 - Meeting Shadow

The Fox Deer Queen, no...Altia was fast. Though the ride was surprisingly smooth, even though we were fleeing from our pursuresers I was enjoying the feeling of the wind rushing through my hair. I wonder when my Agility is high enough will it also feel like this?

"We have almost lost them chosen one, I shall bring you to my den. Please do not fear the others you will meet. They will not harm you, especially so now." Altia's voice broke through my thoughts bringing me to the present. She was taking me to her home? So that means I'm pretty much going into the lions den, or foxes rather. Though she did assure me just now no harm would befal me especially now. Maybe it's because of the blessing I just received from that God of magical beasts. In any case I've already put my trust in Altia, so I will follow through on that trust. I patted her head in acknowledgement because I wasn't sure if she would hear my reply if I had simple said okay. Besides there was more that I wanted to say than just that so a head pat would do for now. I felt a slight vibration that lasted for half a second before it stopped. Did she just....? I'll check on that theory later. We were heading straight for boulder and I felt as if we were going to crash into it at any second. I shut my eyes bracing my body for impact. However nothing came. Opening my eyes I saw to my surprise we weren't even outside anymore. We were in a cave lit up with the light of some weird looking moss and crystals. It was beautiful.

Altia slowed down to a walk and then stopped near an opening to our right. "We are here chosen one, you may hop down now." She got down on her knees and lowered her head for me. It was still a good ways down but I jumped off anyway. The feeling of free fall if only for a moment was thrilling. She nodded once I landed and led the way into the tunnel.

We walked on what seemed to be a few paces before the tunnel opened up into a huge cavern. There was a mini forest underground, a mini forest complete with a lake and everything. It was breathtaking, the trees down here where in a multitude of different colors. Purple, red, blue, green, yellow, orange... it truly looked almost like a full on rainbow, and that was just the trees alone! There were flowers that shone like moonlight, flowers that resembled bigger cousins of the Venus fly trap but where blue with red thorns. The lake itself was crystal clear reflecting all the colors around it. It was so magical, I hardly even realized there were Fox Deers within at all. The yipping is what pulled my gaze over to four cubs playing with one another. Three of them were chasing a pure black one with red eyes. It was adorable and I couldn't help smiling at their antics. Altia saw me and chuckled. "That black one over there is my son, Shadow." Awe how cute her... wait son?! I couldn't help giving him another glance, even without using Appraisal I could tell he was special.

"He's so powerful!" I couldn't help but exclaim outloud. That caught the cubs attention and they all came running over with of course Shadow leading the pack. The other three stopped just a few feet from me however the little guy cam right on over and started to circle me sniffing. I couldnt help it I squatted down and reached out my hand to pet him. He looked surprised at first but then he leaned more into my hand and started purring loudly. So that was what his mom had done earlier! They can pur how freaking adorable. I thought as I continued to pet him. Unaware that I was being surrounded by over fifty Fox Deers and counting.
