Since you are so powerful, why are you still trapped here, feeling helpless and angry?
This question immediately caught Yamato's attention.
Her cheeks flushed red, and she hesitated for a long time before speaking. Eventually, she retreated to a corner and sulked in solitude.
Meanwhile, Carlos, with a slight smile, narrated tales of his adventures at sea. Some parts were based on his own experiences, while others were fictional. Despite this, Yamato was greatly intrigued by his stories.
Despite being huddled in the corner with his knees drawn up, Yamato listened intently, tilting his head to catch every word.
After conversing for about an hour, Carlos suddenly spoke emotionally:
"After years of roaming the seas and encountering numerous formidable individuals, only Kaido and Yamato Kozuki Oden are truly exceptional."
"Oden?"
"Eh? You know about Kozuki Oden as well!"
Yamato's energy surged all of a sudden. He hurried over and gripped the railing with both hands, his eyes sparkling with excitement.
This reaction left Carlos momentarily speechless. It was clear why Kaido found Yamato's behavior challenging to handle; it seemed to be deeply ingrained.
Nonetheless, Carlos saw this as an opportunity to alleviate some of Kaido's troubles.
"Yes, I crossed paths with Oden during my travels at sea, and we briefly teamed up."
"Despite being aligned with the Beasts Pirates now, I hold Oden in high regard as an individual."
Yamato scratched his head upon hearing this.
"Ah! I recognize you; I've read about Oden in his diary! You used to be a member of the Whitebeard Pirates, right?"
Carlos simply smiled in response.
After a moment of excitement, Yamato suddenly calmed down.
"By the way, since you were allies with Kozuki Oden, can you please free me?"
"I can't do that. If I were to release you like this, Boss Kaido would not take it lightly," Carlos responded calmly.
Yamato shouted in frustration.
"Coward! Don't you want to avenge Oden?"
"Revenge for Oden?"
Carlos chuckled before turning serious.
"Let me ask you, are you certain you can defeat Kaido?"
Yamato was on the verge of saying "yes."
However, under Carlos's intense gaze, he hesitated and confessed quietly, "No..."
Carlos let out a sigh.
"As the young master of the Beasts Pirates, why not leverage your status?"
Yamato scowled, appearing ready to argue.
"Are you suggesting I yield to them? Impossible! They wronged Kozuki Oden and seized control of Wanokuni. They are all villains!"
Carlos scoffed and muttered, "Fool."
"Kaido is grooming you as his successor. If you are willing, he will spare no effort to train you. From valuable possessions like Devil Fruits and renowned swords to treasures, everything is at your disposal upon request. Wouldn't it be more practical to use these resources to enhance your strength rather than stewing in a cell with futile dreams every day?"
"How can you accomplish great feats if you can't endure slight hardships?"
Yamato was left speechless, unable to counter the argument.
"But mingling with these malevolent individuals..."
Carlos shook his head.
"Power isn't inherently evil; it's merely a means to achieve an end."
"If you could truly defeat Kaido and assume leadership of the Beasts Pirates, you'd have the authority to instigate change within the group, safeguard Wanokuni, or embark on adventures akin to Oden."
After some convincing, although Yamato sensed something amiss, he couldn't quite pinpoint it.
"Brother Carlos, what should I do now?"
"Feign contrition before your father, admitting your wrongdoing and pledging to serve as General of Wanokuni in his presence."
"Okay, I'll do it..."
...
Upon receiving Carlos's report, Kaido's initial reaction was disbelief as he hurried to the cell. Witnessing Yamato confessing and expressing remorse, Kaido was ecstatic and even shed tears of joy.
In appreciation, Carlos was rewarded with treasures worth 500 million beli and summoned all Beasts Pirates members for a lavish banquet.
The banquet served a dual purpose - celebrating Yamato's change of heart and introducing the new successor of the Beasts Pirates.
During the festivities, Kaido, inebriated, proudly presented Yamato to the assembly.
Following Carlos's advice, Yamato boldly asked Kaido for an immense sum of two billion beli on the spot, aiming to assemble a Zoan-based army to bolster the Beasts Pirates' reputation.
Kaido readily agreed, having entertained the idea beforehand.
Upon hearing about the substantial sum, Queen, who was performing on stage, grimaced and interjected, "Boss Kaido, we are short on funds."
"No money? You jest!" Kaido's demeanor shifted, exuding a chilling aura that silenced the previously jovial atmosphere.
Quinn wiped perspiration from his brow, sensing the sudden tension in the air.
"Most of the seastone weapons we previously crafted and sold were distributed to around a dozen nations like Talon Kingdom and Tulip Kingdom."
"Lately, a few pirate crews tasked with constructing bridges either fell to Whitebeard's forces or merged with them. Consequently, our ties with those unaffiliated nations have been severed."
"The last shipment remains unsold, and the factory's latest batch of weapons lingers in storage. Generating two billion Baileys seems unattainable..."
"Cursed Whitebeard!"
As Queen recounted the predicament, Kaido seethed with rage, feeling powerless.
Despite the passage of years, he dared not underestimate Whitebeard, renowned as the strongest individual in the world. The ongoing clashes between their factions illustrated the formidable threat Whitebeard posed.
Carlos suddenly rose from his seat.
"Boss Kaido, failure to resolve this promptly may jeopardize our financial stability."
"We must urgently seek new partners!"
Kaido silently agreed, casting a glance at King and Queen.
Queen, an essential scientific mind, possessed a sharp intellect but harbored a whimsical and jovial demeanor.
In contrast, King, a long-standing, loyal companion, embodied strength and fidelity.
Yet, their current challenge required securing partnerships rather than engaging in conflicts. Moreover, Kaido's responsibilities on Onigashima demanded meticulous attention to various affairs.
Reflecting on this, Kaido turned to Carlos.
Though relatively new to their circle, Carlos had exhibited remarkable competence and prowess. His recent resolution of a longstanding issue impressed Kaido.
Hence, Kaido reached a swift decision.
"Very well!"
Garros, I entrust this task to you."
"I will dispatch five thousand subordinates along with goods valued at two billion beli."
"Firstly, seek out steady and trustworthy buyers for these weapons and goods, aiming to establish enduring trade connections."
"Secondly, endeavor to procure a batch of Zoan-type Devil Fruits, preferably ancient ones."
"Use any means necessary—be it negotiation or acquisition—but ensure the mission's completion! If challenges arise, do not hesitate to seek assistance; I will offer my support!"
Carlos affirmed, "Rest assured, Boss Kaido, I have everything under control."
