More than a week had passed since the Blood Sail Pirates arrived in the New World. Sailing journeys were mostly boring. What they faced every day were either the endless waves on the sea or the seagulls hovering in the sky. In the past few days, their ship had not encountered any pirates. They hadn't even seen the shadow of a ship.
However, everyone was considered a senior pirate and had their own ways of passing the boring time. Some people sat on the deck, swinging fishing rods into the sea. Others, with nothing better to do, gathered in rooms to gamble away the hours.
...
Carlos was lying leisurely with his eyes closed, legs crossed, on a beach chair. On his left and right, half-kneeling, were two fair-skinned, shapely female pirates. They gently massaged his shoulders and occasionally brought cut fruit snacks to his mouth. Carlos was enjoying it in peace as the sound of waves and the refreshing sea breeze gradually lulled him into a state of complete relaxation.
As the captain of the Blood Sail Pirates, this was his due.
In the cabin not far away, Yorick and several other officers were huddled together, whispering.
"Hey, Yorick, are we really going to Wanokuni?" one officer asked, surreptitiously glancing at Carlos on the deck through a transparent window.
Yorick lowered his voice. "I can't help it. I've tried to persuade him several times during this voyage, but he insists on joining the Beasts Pirates."
Everyone frowned. "Join the Beasts Pirates?"
"I don't understand it. How is being someone's underling better than being your own boss?"
"This guy's got a high bounty, so they'll probably accept him, but what about us?"
In the Blood Sail Pirates, they were officers with command over hundreds. In the Beasts Pirates, they'd likely become nobodies.
"Oh well, we'll take it one step at a time! If it doesn't work..."
While they were discussing, the lookout on the mast above suddenly shouted loudly.
"There's a situation! Pirate ships right ahead! A staggering number of them!"
Everyone looked at each other, stood up immediately, and hurried to the deck. There, they found many pirates already gathered, holding telescopes and shouting among themselves.
Yorick's face was grim as he pushed through the crowd to the side of the ship.
"What's the situation?" he demanded.
Before anyone could respond, he snatched a telescope from a nearby pirate and peered into the distance. More than ten nautical miles away, ten three-masted sailing ships with pirate flags appeared, forming a line that blocked their path.
"Seeing this," Yorick's expression turned serious. "As expected of New World, encountering pirates so soon is rather intense."
Suddenly, someone shouted. "That flag belongs to the BIGMOM Pirates!"
"No way! Did you see it wrong?"
Everyone was shocked. More and more pirates put down what they were doing and flocked to the deck.
"It looks like they've been waiting for us."
"No, they've spotted us! They're heading our way—fast!"
"Damn, why now of all times!"
Everyone on the deck turned to look at Carlos. They hadn't forgotten that this man had defeated Charlotte Daifuku of the BIGMOM Pirates just a few days ago.
He seemed disturbed by the noise. Carlos stretched, stood up slowly, and walked to the deck to look into the distance.
"Oh? Are there enemies?"
"Captain, the BIGMOM Pirates must have gotten information about you and come here for revenge! Isn't this too fast?"
"The enemy's strength is double ours. This is bad!"
"Captain, change course! We can still escape!"
When preparing to go to the New World, everyone had done their homework. They knew about the several sea emperors who reigned there. Naturally, they were no strangers to the power of the BIGMOM Pirates.
"Why panic?" Vice-Captain Yorick shouted. "Don't forget what a character our captain is!"
Although there was worry, there was no overreaction. Facing the strength of their great swordsman captain, there were only ten battleships...
But another officer's exclamation completely shattered his illusions.
"If I'm not mistaken, that's... snack from the Four Sweet Generals! And Smoothie!"
"What? Two generals? Impossible!"
The person next to him quickly took out a thick stack of bounty posters and began rifling through them frantically. Moments later, his face turned pale.
"Snack, one of the Four Sweet Generals, has a bounty of 600 million beli!"
"Smoothie, another of the Four Sweet Generals, has a bounty of 932 million beli!"
"It's definitely them!"
Because of fear, even his voice began to tremble. He wasn't the only one. When the pirates on the deck saw the two formidable figures on the opposing ships, they felt an unspeakable bitterness and despair.
"We're done for, completely done…"
There are only four of the Bloodsail Pirates with bounties in the tens of millions, and Deputy Captain Yorick's was over 100 million beli. Even the most powerful Captain Garros, who had joined recently, only had 500 million beli! How could they be the opponents of these two generals?
Yorick approached Carlos with a serious face and said in a deep voice.
"Captain Garros, the situation is urgent and the enemy's strength cannot be underestimated. We need to change course immediately!"
For a long time, there was no reply. Despite being difficult to express his anxiety in front of everyone, Yorick was about to issue an order himself when Carlos finally spoke.
"Run? Why run?"
Carlos didn't seem to take the battle in front of him to heart and said calmly, "Give my order: face the enemy head-on."
From his knowledge before time travel, he knew that the cadre structure of the Beasts Pirates was divided from top to bottom:
The Governor
The Three Disasters
The Flying Six
The Real Beaters
The Numbers
The Gifters
The Pleasures
The Waiters
Since he wanted to be an undercover agent, his best aim was to become a cadre at the Three Disasters level, which would give him access to the core secrets of the Beasts Pirates.
The dessert stars of the BIGMOM Pirates corresponded to the "Three Disasters." Carlos also wanted to measure the strength of an opponent of this caliber.
After so many days of boredom, it was time to have some fun. Even if he couldn't defeat them, he could rely on skills such as going behind enemy lines and Moonwalk to escape from the battlefield eventually.
Just as the two of them were conversing, the long snake formation of the opposing ships began to change. The ten pirate ships formed a semicircle and quickly surrounded them. Without the need for a telescope, it became evident that the distance between the two sides was closing at a visible speed.
