When Ye Qian was brought to the door of the detention room by several on-duty police officers, the prisoners inside couldn't help but shiver. They had experienced Ye Qian's strength firsthand. The last time, he single-handedly subdued all of them with ease, which was simply unbelievable. When Ye Qian left, they were all overjoyed, preferring to be shot dead rather than suffer such a fate again. Who knew, in just a few days, this terrifying man was back. Seeing Ye Qian's stern face, they started to feel cold inside. When this man was in a good mood, things were alright, but when he was in a bad mood, he took it out on them, which was unbearable.
Once inside the detention room, Ye Qian's lips curled into a slight smile, and he said, "Everyone, long time no see."
"Sir, please sit down. Have a cigarette, have a cigarette!" The prisoners hurriedly gathered around, speaking in awe.
Appreciating their hospitality, Ye Qian leaned back on the bed, smoking a premium cigarette, while several prisoners massaged him constantly. He was not imprisoned; he was living like an emperor, only lacking some women around him. "Sir, why are you back?" The leading prisoner asked nervously.
"Suspected of murder," Ye Qian said calmly.
Murder? The prisoners were stunned. In China, murder was a capital offense. Yet Ye Qian remained so calm in the face of death, a bravery that made the prisoners feel ashamed. Despite their usual arrogance, they couldn't match Ye Qian's composure when faced with death. They could never achieve the calmness and indifference Ye Qian displayed towards death.
Ye Qian had long forgotten what fear of death was. Someone like him, who lived with his life hanging by a thread, with one foot already in the underworld, had no concept of life or death. As the ancients said, "Life brings no joy, death brings no sorrow." It wasn't that Ye Qian didn't fear death, but he couldn't afford to. Each of his missions involved risking his life, and any fear could diminish his chances of survival. By forgetting death, he could be more assured of defeating his enemies.
Leaning back comfortably on the bed with his eyes half-closed, Ye Qian enjoyed the service of these once-glorious gang leaders. His gaze casually drifted to the side, noticing Yang Wei pulling an on-duty officer aside with a mysterious look. Ye Qian silenced the prisoners' chatter and focused on listening.
"Remember, find a way to get him to the door later so I can take action. Understand?" Yang Wei whispered, seemingly afraid others would hear, looking guilty like a thief.
"Brother Yang, are you really going to take action in the police station? This is no joke. If things go wrong, not only will we lose our jobs, but we might spend the rest of our lives in prison," the on-duty officer said worriedly.
"What are you afraid of? This is an order from above. We must eliminate this kid. If we succeed, we'll not only avoid prison, but promotions and wealth will be just around the corner," Yang Wei said. "As long as we make it look like he was trying to escape and we had to shoot him, and with a little pressure from above, even if he has a district police chief brother, it won't help."
"What about the other prisoners?" the on-duty officer asked.
"Shutting them up is easy. Don't worry, as long as we follow the plan, nothing will happen. Even if something goes wrong, there are people above to cover for us," Yang Wei said.
Hearing this, Ye Qian understood they intended to kill him to silence him, ensuring there would be no evidence. But on second thought, Ye Qian felt it was unlikely. Judging by Yang Wei's expression, although well disguised, it seemed like he wanted Ye Qian to hear this. Otherwise, they could have discussed it elsewhere in the large police station, not right at the detention room door. If that was the case, the only explanation was they wanted to create an opportunity for Ye Qian to escape, giving them an excuse to shoot him. Regardless of the possibility, it didn't seem favorable for Ye Qian. However, Ye Qian was not one to submit easily. He had chosen to enter the police station and not reveal Zhao Tianhao as his alibi to facilitate the next move of his hidden enemy. Now that they were taking action, it shouldn't be hard to draw out the enemy if he played his cards right.
Whether Yang Wei's words were true or a conspiracy, Ye Qian felt it was necessary to leave temporarily. He couldn't just sit and wait for the enemy to show up; he had to draw them out. Moreover, once he left, the enemy would likely make another move, giving him a better chance to identify them. However, Ye Qian wouldn't give them any reason to harm him. He already had a plan for what to do after leaving the police station.
Soon, the on-duty officer approached, knocking on the cell door with a baton, and shouted, "Ye Qian, come here!"
Ye Qian scoffed, "Are you ordering me? If I come just because you called, where's my dignity?"
The officer was stunned for a moment, this guy was really fearless. No wonder someone wanted him dead. But he was just doing his job, playing the part. "Our chief wants to interrogate you overnight, come out!" The officer's tone was still strong but softer than before.
Ye Qian smiled inwardly, thinking this guy's acting was quite good. Since they liked to act, he'd play along. Smiling slightly, Ye Qian stood up and walked to the cell door. "Your chief is really dedicated, working so late. Truly a good public servant," Ye Qian said sarcastically.
At the moment the officer opened the door, Yang Wei suddenly rushed over and quickly drew his gun. Ye Qian, not caring if Yang Wei really intended to kill him, swiftly moved, his hand chopping down on Yang Wei's neck. Yang Wei immediately fell unconscious. The on-duty officer was stunned, not expecting Ye Qian to be so fast. As he reached for his gun, it was too late. Ye Qian gave him a similar chop, and the officer fell to the ground like a dead dog.
