Shen Ruoxi shifted awkwardly, but Ye Mubei suddenly made a motion to lift her up higher, threatening, "If you keep fidgeting, I can't guarantee I won't drop you."
"Let me walk on my own," Shen Ruoxi countered, only to hear Ye Mubei's mocking voice from above her head, "Want to try being crippled?"
Sure enough, after hearing him say that, Shen Ruoxi obediently stayed in his arms, still as a quail. Her ankles were now wrapped in gauze, still aching from her leap down the stairs.
Just endure it for a while, Shen Ruoxi told herself.
Ye Mubei carried her all the way out of the elevator. A black Maybach was parked at the hospital's entrance. Immediately, a bodyguard opened the car door, and Ye Mubei bent down to place Shen Ruoxi into the seat. She caught a glimpse of his deep-set eyes and quickly looked away.
Shen Ruoxi had long sealed her heart away. Her past with Ye Mubei felt like it belonged to a previous life, yet sometimes she couldn't help but wonder, was it all real?
