Synopsis
(Sequel To “For The Queen, Not The Prince”) It all started in Summerhall. Aegon The Unlikely’s attempt at resurrecting the Dragons was successful but at the cost of his life. The fire was able to be put out, not before it took Aegon V's life as well as his son, Ser Duncan The Tall, and a few rooms. Ever since then, the events that decide the fate of Westeros had vastly changed. Dragons had returned; it was said that during the night of the fire, a bright crimson comet was seen in the night sky. During the end of King Aerys’s reign, a Rebellion started. But it wasn’t started by Robert Baratheon due to Rhaegar’s actions. Robert instead fought for the Targaryens and was married to a Princess which resulted with them having a son, Rhaegon. Rhaegon Baratheon is the rider of Morghul, a massive Black Dragon that Hatched at the end of the Rebellion started by the River Dragon. He was not just named after the Dragon that was bound to Aegon III's first wife and cousin, Jaehera but because of Rhaegon's unique sense of humor as he inherited his mother's spirit. Chapter 1 - Prologue: Quick Run-Down

(Third Person POV)

(Rebirth of The Dynasty)

It was thought that Dragons had gone extinct. While it is true that most dragons were killed off, several eggs had remained unhatched, nearly fossilized. Most of the Targaryen dragons were brutalized in the Dance of The Dragons, a civil war between the Family. Ever since then, the beasts had died off.

In 259 a.c, King Aegon V attemped to resurrect the dragons, performing a fire ritual that sacrificed his flesh and blood to give life back to the beasts. His son, Duncan The Small and the Lord Commander of the Kingsguard, Duncan The Tall, died from the injuries caused by the fire.

Duncan Targaryen was only King, after his father's death, for 3 days. The wounds he suffered were far too great as he had lost an arm and a leg, they were both amputated as flaming debris had fallen on him. Ser Duncan had died to wounds caused by the flames melting his armor onto his flesh, something he couldn't endure past the night of King Duncan's death.

This made Aerys Targaryen, the next King. Coincidentally, Prince Rhaegar Targaryen had been born on the same night of the fire. This had its symbolic meanings; Prince Rhaegar was destined for greatness and his Father, Aerys, was sure of it.

Two of the 3 Dragon Eggs hatched; a Golden Dragon with fiery red eyes and a Silver Dragon with serene blue eyes. The third egg, an obsidian black one, while unhatched, became warm, warmer than it normally was. This Dragon was not ready to be brought to life at the time.

Due to this incident, the Old Ways of Dragonriding and Dragonkeeping had a shocking return. Many scholars of the ancient Valyrian traditions would offer their services to revive the Old Glory of House Targaryen. This resulted in King Aerys rebuilding the Dragonpit for his new Dragons.

The Golden Dragon was named Sundancer, due to the fact when King Aerys claimed it as his, it began to fly above him with energy, the sun reflecting off its shiny scales. This Golden Dragon became the most important asset to the Targaryen Family as it quickly grew to large proportions in the span of a few years, capable of being ridden to battle.

The Silver Dragon, was named Arraxes and nicknamed the Silver Wyrm. This was because many scholars and historians that King Aerys welcomed claimed that this dragon was similar to the Caraxes, The Blood Wyrm, Daemon Targaryen's mount. While this is true, The Silver Dragon's head was awfully similar to the Blood Wyrm's, Arraxes didn't have a long neck or webbed legs. He was, however, thinner than Sundancer and had a strange nasal roar.

A few years into King Aerys's reign, Sundancer laid a clutch of eggs, prompting Aerys to stop riding his dragon. He thought that she was necessary to bring more dragons to the world and wanted her to be protected at all times, starting a new order of Knights solely for that job. This order was called the Dragonguard and was led by the Drakeknights, loyal servants to the Targaryens.

King Aerys would have another child with his Sister-Wife, Rhaella. It was a daughter who miraculously survived a bad childbirth, Shaena. Shaena Targaryen's birth would cause another Dragon to hatch; Sundancer's egg, Mereys, a beautiful azure-scaled dragon that would soon grow as large as Sundancer.

The Black Egg was still not ready to hatch.

(The Silver Dragon Prince)

When Rhaegar was 15 years old and the only active Dragonrider, many Houses across the Realm would offer their daughters to House Targaryen, to Prince Rhaegar. The reason why was obvious; Dragons. With the rebirth of Dragons, many Kingdoms have attempted to jump at the opportunity to get in the favor of King Aerys, the Dragonbringer. It was only Elia Martell of Dorne, whom King Aerys saw potential in. Aerys wished for a secured alliance between Dorne and the rest of the realm, which pleased the Martells. Ellia would wed Rhaegar and they would have 2 children, Rhaenys and Aegon. While this displeased many Houses, they reluctantly accepted the decision, since they had no choice but to stay quiet.

(Rebellion)

It was nearly 20 years after the fated night of Dragon Rebirth, that there was sparks of a Rebellion. In the Riverlands, an enigmatic figure rose from nowhere, with two dragons in his possession. While these dragons were nowhere near Sundancer or Arraxes's size, their fire was potent. This man, who allegedly hailed from a Targaryen Princess, called himself the River Dragon, and declared war to take the Iron Throne.

He was able to persuade several Riverlords who were either threatened with Dragonfire or bribed with Targaryen treasures. With this, the start of the River Dragon Rebellion shook the Realm.

Lord Rickard Stark of Winterfell and his son, Brandon were brutally murdered as the River Dragon bathed them in fire when the Warden of The North refused to aid his Rebellion. This caused House Baratheon to quickly jump into the conflict, with House Arryn on the side of House Targaryen. Eddard Stark, the Young Lord of Winterfell, would march his armies down towards the Riverlands to avenge his father and brother. His sister, Lyanna, had gone missing during the chaos.

The Young Lord Robert declared himself the one to end the conflict and told King Aerys and Prince Rhaegar to merely stand back and watch. The Battles Robert won against the Rebelling Armies were a thing for the History books, squashing sizeable armies with ease, and bringing glory to the Crown. Even Tywin Lannister, The Hand of The King, was astonished by the Young Warrior's martial prowess and military tactics.

As thanks for the victories in his name, King Aerys married Princess Shaena to Robert, who quickly consummated the marriage and impregnated the Princess. This was mostly due to Robert's impatience, he wanted to destroy the Rebellion at once, thinking it was a shame to his sworn brotherhood with Ned Stark.

At the same time, Queen Rhaella had been with child, the King's.

This added more pressure to King Aerys as the stress of the conflict was causing his health to decline; he had a young son in Prince Viserys and his wife and daughter were pregnant, All while Prince Rhaegar joined the battle on Dragonback to deter the two dragons on the Rebel Army.

The Rebellion, which was started by a Mysterious Man wielding an Unknown Valyrian Steel Greatsword, was proving to be more than difficult. The joint forces of House Stark, House Baratheon, House Tully, and House Arryn were badly pushed north as the Targaryen and Lannister Armies struggled to punch through from the south.

Sooner than later, The River Dragon began to take victories. It is completely unknown how or why this Man was able to create such an influential movement that was able to threaten the realm, but at the time, it did not matter; he was to be dealt with.

Over the months of constant Warring, House Targaryen led by Prince Rhaegar began to win back territories with the aid of Tywin Lannister's army and tactics, using Arraxes to perform hit-and-run assaults as the infantry ran through the Rebel forces.

(Dragonstone Tragedy)

As the War happened, Princess Shaena was ordered to stay in Dragonstone alongside her pregnant mother and Good Sister, Ellia, alongside Rhaegar's children. The fierce and free-spirited Princess would've taken her dragon to battle had it not been for the protests and orders of her Father, King Aerys, who stayed in Kingslanding and hoped to bait any attack on himself rather than his Family. He had ordered Ser Jaime Lannister, a young Kingsguard, and dozens of Lannister troops to protect the Princess and Queen on the island.

Aerys didn't foresee what came after, nobody did. It was a blow struck out of nowhere.

Amidst a massive storm, while Queen Rhaella began her labors, several foreign ships approached the Island. Nobody knew where the ships came from and who they belonged to, all that Ser Jaime said was that dozens of men swarmed the castle and violently slaughtered the guards that were stationed there.

The young Kingsguard fought viciously to protect Queen Rhaella as several Lannister soldiers tried to take Princess Ellia and her children away to safety. He cut down dozens upon dozens of men who didn't stop swarming the halls. His blade, armor, and cloak were stained red with the blood of the relentless attackers, but Ser Jaime did not falter, he stood his ground and guarded the door as Queen Rhaella shouted in pain and agony.

The Lannister soldiers were unable to properly evacuate Princess Ellia and her children, as the attackers were able to overrun them and amidst the chaos, Rhaegar's wife and daughter were thrown over the rampart of the Castle, falling to their death. The baby that was ripped from Ellia's arms was stabbed once, killing the prince instantly.

Was it a mistake that Aerys didn't command more Kingsguard to guard his wife, daughter, and Grandchildren? Perhaps. But he could not see the future, he did not think something like this would happen.

Princess Shaena, who was bedridden prior, took to the highest tower of the Castle and while being hit by the vicious winds and rain, shouted loudly into the air, calling for her Dragon. Mereys would then go to repel the attackers that were outside the castle walls, burning them alive and crushing them in her jaws.

This prompted the attackers to retreat to their ships as Ser Jaime would finish off the ones inside the Castle, allowing Queen Rhaella to give birth to Princess Daenerys. Princess Shaena would then pass out and be carried to her room by the Young Lannister Knight.

When word reached King Aerys of what had happened, he burst into a mad rage, calling for his dragon, Sundancer and for the first time in over a decade, took her to the skies. Aerys flew through the massive storm and as he approached Dragonstone, he saw that there were still ships in the harbor, the foreign attackers preparing for another assault. They were also joined by more ships that came out of nowhere.

Ser Jaime would speak about what happened; King Aerys the Dragonbringer would burn the ships down as he shouted madly, his voice louder than the thunder as the flames would destroy the vessels that turned into their fiery coffins.

There was one thing that Aerys would constantly repeat to his dragon, according to Ser Jaime; "Dracarys! Burn Them All!!! Burn Them All!!!"

Shortly after finishing them off, King Aerys would land atop the castle and make his way inside, in tears as he constantly shouted, cursing the gods for taking his grandchildren from them. When he went to see his newborn daughter, it was discovered that Queen Rhaella died in her sleep, from exhaustion. This broke the King as he merely wept at her bedside. Princess Shaena would then begin her labors as King Aerys didn't leave his Wife's corpse, telling Ser Jaime to send word to his father, The Hand, that he was in charge now.

(Ending The River Dragon Rebellion)

During this tragedy, Prince Rhaegar was close to ending the war, challenging the River Dragon to a climatic battle at the Trident. He gathered his armies that were led by Lord Eddard Stark, Lord Robert Baratheon, and Lord Jon Arryn. The majority of the Targaryen and Lannister Armies had pulled back in a defensive tactic employed by Tywin Lannister, claiming that they were needed to protect the Crownlands.

Rhaegar was joined by two of his Kingsguard, Ser Arthur Dayne and Ser Barristan Selmy, in battle as the two were aiding the three Lords in the infantry. Robert's forces took the left flank while Lord Arryn's forces pushed straight through, allowing Ned's forces to pick off the remaining from the right.

In the sky above, Prince Rhaegar was locked in a fierce battle with the River Dragon, who was atop his pale-grey dragon mount. Arraxes, being slightly larger, had the advantage which inevitably caused the victory for Rhaegar as the Silver Wyrm ripped open the enemy dragon's chest with his claws, sending the River Dragon crashing down into the steep waters of the banks.

Rhaegar landed his dragon in front of them as the chaotic battle ensued around them, the River Dragon emerging from the burning dragon's smoke, a wicked smirk on his face. His left arm was mangled and broken and his right arm held an unknown Valyrian Steel Greatsword, dragging it through the water.

Rhaegar charged at the River Dragon, plunging his sword through his chest as the Rebel Leader uttered strange and bone-chilling words.

"You don't have Three-Eyes, do you?"

With the death of the River Dragon and one of his dragons, the other's whereabouts unknown, the Rebellion ended.

As victorious Armies began finishing things up, taking prisoners and executing those who resisted, word had reached both Prince Rhaegar and Lord Robert of the incidents at Dragonstone.

Rhaegar fell to his knees, weeping after he heard his wife and children were dead. This shocked everyone to their core, including Robert whom was told that his son had been born. Another message was given to Prince Rhaegar in the midst of his mourning; He was King now, his father was also dead.

(King Rhaegar)

When Rhaegar returned to King's Landing, he could only feel despair. His family was destroyed by this Rebellion. There were many questions that he demanded answers for but nobody had them, nobody knew how or why any of this had happened.

This bothered Tywin greatly, it ate away at his pride, he was supposed to be resourceful and prevent such things, but couldn't.

The Hand told Rhaegar that he must ascend to the Throne and begin to rule in which Rhaegar lashed out at him, tears in his eyes as he was still in mourning. He was left with his young brother Viserys and his newborn sister, Daenerys.

Lords Robert Baratheon, Jon Arryn, and Ned Stark were there in the room, while the Kingsguard merely stood in silence while Rhaegar wept on the steps leading up to the Iron Throne. All of the men were well aware of the pain he was feeling, he lost his parents, his wife, and his children.

Robert stepped forward and offered words of encouragement to the King, whom took those words to heart and composed himself. Seconds after this, the doors had opened and Princess Shaena walked into the room, holding a baby in her arms; Robert's son.

Princess Shaena declared a reason for celebrating, holding back her tears as her eyes were red. Robert walked up to her as he saw his son's sleeping face, a black-headed beauty.

Shaena then announced that after the birth of her son, a Dragon's egg had hatched and told her brother exactly which Egg it was.

The Black Egg was ready this time.

A Black Dragon was born.
