"Hmm?" Shen Ning understand why he was talking like that.

"Will you promise me to never leave me?"

"Why should I leave you?"

"Promise me!" He was anxious.

He had to admit that he left insecure whenever he thought about that Mu Chen. He still remembered when they were just newly married and their relationship wasn't good, Shen Ning would occasionally call that Mu Chen's name in her sleep.

Her insistence on not getting married forever was also because of Mu Chen.

He... really wanted to know what position does he hold in her heart. Is it more than Mu Chen or...?

But he dare not. What if it just the closiness after spending time or responsibility of their marriage but not love?

When he was thinking about all sort of things, he heard her voice.

"Ok, I promise. I'll never leave you. We will grow old together."

Qin Yuheng smiled, he looked a little relief.

"Sh... It's Mr. Qin?" Mu Chen didn't expect that it would be Qin Yuheng who picked up the call. Although he was upset, he didn't show it.

"Who are you?" He didn't recognise the voice.

"I'm Mu Chen. Can you give the phone to...?" Before he could finish speaking, Qin Yuheng hung up the phone.

Mu Chen's face darkened. He gritted his teeth angrily.

"I'm at Beijing airport," Mu Chen said, his tone cautious. "Can you pick me up?"

Shen Ning's brow furrowed. "Why should I pick you up?"

The line fell silent. Mu Chen's heart sank, anticipating rejection.

"I'm only familiar with you in Beijing," he added, his voice laced with vulnerability.

Shen Ning glanced around at her friends, her expression torn. "Now?" she asked, hesitation evident.

Mu Chen held his breath.

"Hmm," he heard her murmur, followed by a pause.

Finally, Shen Ning relented. "Ok."

Mu Chen exhaled slowly.

"I'll hang up now. Wait for me there." Shen Ning hung up the call.

The line went dead.

Mu Chen murmured to himself. "I'll always wait for you."

Shen Ning's eyes met Lu Nan's inquiring gaze. "I have to go," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.

Lu Nan's raised eyebrow asked the unspoken question.

"An old friend," Shen Ning clarified, her explanation vague.
