"This…" Father Shen was at a loss for words. A rich man was offering to marry his daughter and give all his property to her? He couldn't even process it. Moreover, this was his daughter, not some business transaction. "Mr. Qin, I don't doubt your intentions, but based on this, I can't let you marry my daughter."
Qin Yuheng remained calm, his expression sincere. "Uncle Shen, if I marry Shen Ning, I will take her to the best doctors for her surgery without delay. What do you say? Even if you don't agree to my proposal, I will still make sure her surgery happens, I promise."
Father Shen and Mother Shen were stunned by his words. He would still help, even without their consent? He… he what?
Mother Shen studied him thoughtfully, her expression softening. "Okay." She couldn't help but see this as their last hope.
Father Shen turned to her, his eyes wide with disbelief. "What are you saying?"
"Jiming," Mother Shen said, her voice quiet but firm, "right now, saving our daughter is more important. Didn't Mr. Qin just say that he likes Xiao Ning? We can let him help."
"But Xiao Ning doesn't want to marry now," Father Shen objected, his voice filled with confusion.
Mother Shen looked at him bitterly, frustration creeping into her tone. "When Shi Fu proposed, didn't she reject him? She said she didn't plan to marry anyone in this lifetime. Do you want that for her?"
The mention of Shi Fu—the nephew who had once proposed to Shen Ning—reminded them both of the complexities of their daughter's feelings.
Qin Yuheng felt a knot tighten in his chest. Why had she rejected marriage? Was she in a relationship with someone else? Did her family disapprove? His heartbeat quickened. No. He couldn't let her slip away this time.
Father Shen paused, clearly torn, but then he sighed. "Okay, Mr. Qin. I agree."
Relief flooded Qin Yuheng's face. "Then, Uncle, Aunt, you can call me Yuheng."
Mother Shen's curiosity sparked. "How did you meet my daughter?"
Qin Yuheng smiled, though there was a hint of sadness in his eyes. "I met her through an incident a year ago. Though, she may have already forgotten about me."
A year ago? That meant he'd been searching for her for a whole year.
Mother Shen hesitated, then asked, "You can't be much older than my daughter, right?" The concern was clear in her voice. She didn't want her daughter marrying someone too old, though Qin Yuheng looked more mature than Shi Fu, who was 25.
Qin Yuheng's smile faltered slightly, and he rubbed the back of his neck. "Auntie, I'll be 27 next month." He chuckled awkwardly, then quickly changed the subject. "But enough about that. Let me make a quick call." He dialed a number on his phone. "I'll send you the details; he'll be here soon." With that, he hung up without further explanation.
On the other end of the line, the doctor was left speechless. This man always did this—spoke his mind, then hung up without warning. If he kept going like this, he'd end up a bachelor forever.
Qin Yuheng turned back to the Shens, his face softening. "I called a friend of mine. He's a skilled surgeon, and he'll be here shortly. Don't worry. It's getting late, so you should go rest before the surgery."
"Okay," Father Shen and Mother Shen said in unison, their nerves beginning to settle.
"Let me send you home," Qin Yuheng offered.
They left together, leaving PA Wang behind in stunned silence. What is happening today? Did the boss somehow transmigrate into a different world? Grandpa Qin will definitely be thrilled though.
After bidding farewell to Qin Yuheng, the Shen family returned home.
Grandma Shen immediately asked about the situation.
"Mom, don't worry," Shen Jiming said, his voice filled with quiet confidence. "The surgery will happen tomorrow."
Shi Fu, who had been quietly watching, raised an eyebrow. "Uncle, who was that man?"
Shen Jiming smiled, a bit bewildered himself. "Someone sent by God, I think. Anyway, we should rest now."
Shi Fu couldn't suppress a chuckle. Sent by God? What, was he Shen Ning's guardian angel?
