Chapter 3 - STRANGER THINGS

 Where am I?

As I struggled to comprehend my surroundings, I realized that I was in a desolate place, not of the earth. The ground beneath me was covered in ashes, and the air was thick with smoke that seemed to stretch up to the sky. The water nearby was a deep, eerie red, and the ground felt rough and unforgiving beneath my body. And then, I saw him again - the same man I had seen in my dream , with one eye and very long lips.

He was walking towards me from the distance. His presence seemed to be the only constant in this strange and frightening world. I watched him approach, my heart racing with a mix of fear and anticipation. What did he want from me? And how did I end up in this strange, nightmarish place?

But this time, he was hovering towards me with a long wooden axe. I couldn't tell if he had no legs or not, his long black cloak covered him up greatly. He was moving at a great speed and with each space he covered, I became more scared and took frozen to move.

As he got closer, I had a strange feeling he was going to carry out an act that would leave me lifeless or vulnerable to anything, so I struggled to stand. I yanked my legs aggressively with my eyes still looking at this hovering figure. He was getting closer and I was still struggling to stand.

He started moving faster and just in a blink of an eye, he raised the axe, swindling it down.

 Gasp!

 Damn! Another dream!

 Getting more real.

I flickered my eyes wide open and just as I did, I realized I was in a strange place. The sunlight from the open curtains was just too bright, and it made me annoyed. I made a move to stand and find out where I was, but it felt like a huge stone had fallen on me. The pain I felt was immense, and it made me fall off the bed with an impact that further made me groan in pain.

I didn't like this place, something about the scent that hovered there was wrong. My fangs came up as my way of warning any enemy that might walk in through that door.

 Time to see.

I looked all over the room with my left hand resting on an iron bar for support and the other putting pressure on my stomach. The room was large, painted in very bright colors, which I hated. At the far end of the room were empty chairs and another empty bed dressed in blue sheets.

I, was also dressed in a blue gown and this made me feel even more unsafe. I could see the beautiful view from the window, the trees that surrounded the building might just make it easier to escape and hide.

 What the heck!

I spent time looking at the room and the view. I didn't bother to look at my own body. Two long wires were connected to my back and were connected to what seemed like a device. I had been locked up as a slave far too long. I knew nothing about the outside world.

I didn't like the wires, they reminded me of the chains used in shackling me up. I held it getting ready to yank it off, but I stopped to think for a moment, I needed to be smart about this.

What are the chances that if I yanked those wires off, whoever put them there might not notice?

So if I was going to do that, I knew also that I also had a few minutes to make a run for it.

There were only two routes of escape; the door and windows. I would be running into my death if I took the door, I need not be told there were going to be people surrounded all over the building. It would be wiser to go out the window, maybe break if I had to.

I looked around to make sure no one was around me, or anything watching me. I couldn't really tell what it was that was hanging off the corner of the ceiling. It had two blinking lights and kept turning around like a head.

 Weird.

I let go of the iron bar, trying to walk to the door. I held on to my ribs to reduce the immense pain I kept feeling. And each step I took, I gasped and bit my lips harder. I didn't have time to pull up the blue gown I was wearing to check for more wounds. I just wanted to escape.

I walked slowly, my legs shaking and felt like failing me, but I trudged on defiantly, it was as if my legs were having their own brains and kept telling me to lie down and sleep.

It was time. I yanked the wires off and sure enough, the beeping sound that came twice stopped and made a constant sound,

"Why am I in so much pain? Ugh!" I muttered to myself.

I walked, I stumbled, I fell but stood. I just needed to reach that door, and I was almost there.

 Just almost...

I froze in my tracks, my mind forgetting the pain I was feeling. I heard something beyond the door. FOOTSTEPS!

I rushed to the door, turned the knob and I backed off. I listened intensively to the footsteps approaching the door. My heightened sense of hearing could identify that the footsteps were those of a man and a woman.

I was scared. I panicked and with a snap, I turned around to run to the window, but my leg crossed the other. I lost my balance and fell. Sending everything on the table, I was holding on to clattering on the floor.

I must have alarmed the people walking towards me because, just as I fell, their footsteps got louder and faster. They were now running.

 Fuck!The window! Now.

I picked myself up, grabbing a knife from the fallen tool, then I quickly rushed to the window, gripping the handle of the window, I stuck the knife in the slight opening just behind the handle, I yanked it, I pushed it, but it didn't budge. I did sane to the other window but nothing.

 It was tightly shut.

The footsteps stopped outside my door, I could hear their muffled voices and I could see their shadows from the crack at the bottom of the door. Someone tried turning the knob, only for it to jiggle, and the door stayed closed.

"Go. Get him" I heard a male voice yell, and as I watched, one shadow disappeared while the male kept turning and yanking the door knob. I turned my focus to the window, trying furiously to open it.

"Hey!!" He yelled, "C'mon, open up". He thundered.

Did he really think that if he kept shouting and banging on the door like that, that I was going to open the door?

"Heyyy! You !" He said again. I ignored him and kept trying to open the window. He started banging on it and slamming his shoulder on it. The wood from the door started cracking, meaning it was breaking.

My heart started pumping faster, and my breath was coming out of my pants. I grabbed the iron tray that was lying on the floor near the bed and raised it shakily over my head, about to smash the window. The door busted down, and a man ran at me from the corner of my eye.

 Great!

I let out a scream as he pulled the chair from my hands. I tried to stab him with the knife I was holding on to, but my movements were a product of pain. Slow. He easily caught my wrist and pulled the needle from my grasp. I screamed again and tried to fight him off, but he was stronger than me. He restrained me gently, trying not to hurt me.

"Heyyy there Tiger. Don't show your stripes. I'm not gonna hurt you" he said, pulling me closer to him while i shook.

My arms free from his grasp.

"Touch me and you die" I said, growling and gnashing my teeth.
