Chapter 44 - Chapter 44 Conditions

In the corridor, Morin walked quietly alone.

It was quiet all around, with only the sound of Maureen's footsteps echoing.

"I really didn't expect this." Morin couldn't help but sigh softly. Originally, he just wanted to ask Adrian to go out for a trip, but he didn't expect so many things would happen.

Whether it was Frey or Metz, it was all unexpected.

Mo Lin returned to the dormitory and washed up. Just when he finished washing, there was a knock on the door.

"Who?" Morin frowned.

"Molin, it's me." A familiar voice came.

"Lilith." Morin said softly, then he opened the door and saw Lilith standing outside, her whole body covered in a black robe.

"Lilith, what do you want?"

Morin asked.

Lilith didn't answer. She looked around and said, "Molin, can I go into your dormitory first?"

"Of course." Maureen turned sideways and let Lilith in.

As soon as he closed the door, Lilith's anxious voice came over, saying, "Maureen, you have a feud with the Olivia family, right? You and Frey were on the verge of a fight in the hall? You almost had a conflict?"

"Yes, that's right, that's right."

Maureen did not deny it. After all, these things could not be hidden from others.

"Maureen, why are you like this? How did you end up like this?" Lilith's voice revealed a hint of panic and fear. She said, "Do you know that Jay and Frey are both direct descendants of the Olivia family? It's troublesome enough to mess with Jay, and you also offended Frey. You know, Frey is a genius. He is valued by several wizards in the Olivia family. If you do this, then...the consequences..."

Maureen raised an eyebrow.

"Lilith, what do you want to say?" Morin asked.

Lilith stared at Morin in a daze. After a long while, she suddenly took a deep breath and said, "Molin, you should join the wizard family behind me, the Walker family."

"What?" Maureen was a little stunned.

"Maureen, your actions have offended the Olivia wizard family. You must rely on another wizard family." Lilith's voice fluctuated a little, but finally calmed down. She said: "So, you can only be safe if you join other wizard families and rely on the protection of other wizard families."

"So, Lilith, the Walker family behind you always has conditions, right?" Morin thought for a moment and raised his eyebrows.

"Yes, there are conditions." Lilith nodded and said, "My grandfather has discussed with other members of the family. If you want to rely on our Walker family, you must abide by the following conditions."

She looked at Morin, pursed her lips, and said slowly: "First, you must serve the Walker family for at least 150 years. Second, you must unconditionally obey all the dispatches and arrangements of the Walker family. Third, from now on, the Walker family will take away 80% of all the potions you refine. Fourth, you..."

"That's enough! Lilith, does your family want to use me as a legal slave?"

Maureen interrupted Lilith, his face turning completely cold.

An ordinary wizard apprentice has a lifespan of nearly two hundred years. Serving the Walker family for one hundred and fifty years is equivalent to tying his entire life to the Walker family. As for taking away eighty percent of the finished potions and unconditionally obeying orders and arrangements, what is the difference between this and being a slave?

"No, Maureen, don't be like this. Don't think like that. Think about it, as long as you become a formal wizard, then..." Lilith said hurriedly.

"Lilith, do you think that if I agree to your family's conditions and receive your family's protection, I will still have a chance to become a formal wizard?"

Maureen asked back.

Lilith fell silent.

The answer is obvious. Under such perverted and almost harsh conditions, it is nothing but a pipe dream for Morin to become a formal wizard.

"But Maureen, if you don't agree, the Olivia family, you..." Lilith looked at Maureen and wanted to say something.

"I know my own situation." Morin said calmly. The situation has not reached the worst point yet. Besides, how could Morin agree to the conditions offered by the Walker family? Dream on!

He looked at Lilith and said, "Lilith, it's already late. It's not good for you to stay here. You should go."

As he spoke, Morin stepped forward and opened the door.

"Maureen, why don't you think about it? Believe me, I will convince grandpa. He won't follow those requests. You..." Lilith's voice sounded anxious.

"Lilith, it's late."

Maureen looked at Lilith and just said this softly.

Lilith shuddered.

Tears flashed in her eyes. After looking at Maureen deeply, she pursed her lips tightly and ran outside.

Maureen looked at Lilith's gradually leaving back and shook his head.

He could feel Lilith's kindness towards him, but it would be idiotic to sign a slave treaty just because of this kindness.

After all, after the signing of the slave treaty, he was like a fish on the chopping board and could only be controlled by others. What would happen at that time, whether it would be stricter or more lenient, was still up to the Walker family to decide. Maureen was not so stupid as to hand himself over.

After clearing his mind, Morin lay on the bed and began to meditate on the mental runes.

the next day.

Adrian's laboratory.

"Teacher." He bowed slightly to Adrian in front of him.

"Maureen, you're here." Adrian smiled and gestured to Maureen.

He reached out and handed over a letter, saying, "When I was still an apprentice, I had a friendship with Marquis Umas of the Bauhinia Principality. Recently, Umas used the witchcraft mark I left behind to send me a message, saying that they were in trouble and you should go and help solve it."

"Give this letter to Umas. After he reads it, he will believe you. Then, he will fully support you."

Mo Lin was stunned for a moment, then said, "Okay, mentor."

"Molin, this mission doesn't have a time limit. Just come back when you feel it's about time." Adrian thought about it, laughed, and said, "After all, you're not going on a mission, you also want to travel around, right?"

Maureen looked at Adrian and nodded.

"Maureen, I didn't expect you to leave too." Winnie came over with a faint smile on her face and said, "You've been here for almost two years, time flies."

Winnie hugged Maureen gently and said, "Maureen, take care."

"Yes, I will."

Maureen smiled. He could clearly smell the soft and sweet scent coming from Winnie's body, which was light and touching.

After talking for a while again, Maureen said goodbye to Winnie and Adrian and turned to leave.

"Teacher, do you think that people from the Olivia family will secretly take action against Maureen?" Winnie looked at Maureen's back as he left, thought for a moment, and asked.

Adrian gently adjusted his glasses and said, "Winnie, I am Morin's mentor. This is something many people in the entire Dark Forest know."

Winnie was stunned.

"Teacher, you..." She shook her head and laughed. Although Adrian said it very simply, she could hear the hidden meaning behind his words.

Adrian sat down on the chair and said, "Molin, it would be good for him to go out and travel. After all, he is still so young and should not stay in the Dark Forest all the time."

At the end, Adrian couldn't help laughing.

Winnie walked behind Adrian and gently massaged his shoulders.

"It's been a long time, Winnie, ever since I picked you up as a baby. You just rubbed my shoulders when you were a child, and now, I really miss you." There was a hint of teasing in Adrian's voice.

Although Winnie was his apprentice, Adrian had always regarded Winnie as his daughter.

Winnie was a little embarrassed and said, "Teacher, I need to meditate. I am still a long way from being a formal wizard. I am not as good as Mace."

"Mace."

Adrian spoke softly, his eyebrows slightly raised, and there seemed to be a faint light flashing in his eyes.

"Teacher, what happened to Mace?" Winnie was a little surprised.

"Nothing." Adrian said softly. He turned his head, looked at Winnie and said, "Winnie, you must become a formal wizard as soon as possible. This is very important. Do you understand?" His eyes gradually became stern.

Winnie was a little confused, but soon she reacted and nodded.
