Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 - City

Fang Sheng felt like his head was about to explode.

He covered his forehead and let out a groan of pain.

There was no flame shooting up into the sky, no shouting of fear from people, and the scene before him was not that of a plane exploding suddenly, but rather a low, dilapidated house.

Some blond, blue-eyed, simply dressed people surrounded him, and on the ground lay the body of an old man.

"Poor Maureen."

"Yeah, how come old John died? What should Maureen do now?"

There were many people talking nearby with sympathy in their eyes. Fang Sheng had never heard of that language before, but he could understand what they were saying.

A sharp pain came again, accompanied by many broken images. Fang Sheng felt as if someone was constantly chopping his head with a huge axe, making the pain unbearable.

He staggered back a few steps and held on to the door of the low house to prevent himself from falling.

"Molin, little Molin, what happened to you? Are you okay?" A middle-aged aunt hurriedly supported Fang Sheng, her eyes full of concern.

"I'm... much better, Aunt Mary."

Fang Sheng looked at the face in front of him that was both familiar and unfamiliar, and forced a smile with the corners of his mouth.

He remembered very clearly that the last thing he saw was the huge fire caused by the explosion of the plane for some reason. In that situation, no one could survive.

Combined with the memories that suddenly appeared in his mind, Fang Sheng knew that he had traveled through time and space and came to a new and unfamiliar world.

The level of civilization in this world is similar to that of the Western Middle Ages, but unlike the Middle Ages on Earth, this world has the existence of mysterious powers.

The name of his current body is Maureen, fourteen years old. He was originally an orphan, and was later raised by Old John, so he used Old John's last name, Olson.

"Maureen Olson."

Fang Sheng recited his full name in his mind.

Old John and Maureen lived in the slums of Sclan City. Although they lived in poverty, they could at least survive. However, not long ago, Old John died, and Maureen just died of excessive grief, which gave Fang Sheng an opportunity.

He took over the magpie's nest and was reborn in a new world.

Fang Sheng figured everything out. Looking at the corpse on the ground with tattered clothes, messy hair and an old face, he felt sad.

This is the body's natural reaction.

"Okay, Maureen, it's all over. It's okay. It's okay." Aunt Mary comforted.

"Yes, little Maureen, don't cry. You are a little man."

Andrew came over and ruffled Maureen's golden hair. He was Aunt Mary's husband, a blacksmith.

Maureen nodded. He looked at old John's body and couldn't help but recall the time he spent with the old man. For a moment, his expression became a little complicated.

"Uncle Andrew." Morin thought for a moment, then looked at the tall and strong Andrew next to him and said, "Can you help me? Buy me a coffin. I want to bury my grandfather."

Old John is dead, and no matter what, he must be buried in peace.

Andrew was stunned for a moment, then patted Maureen's shoulder vigorously and said, "No problem, it's a small matter."

The crowd gradually dispersed. Tragedies happened in the slums every day, and what happened to Maureen was just one of them. At most, it became a topic of conversation among them, but it could not change anything.

After all, life must go on.

Maureen walked into the low, dilapidated hut and began to clean up.

Old John didn't leave much for Maureen, just some silver coins and miscellaneous old stuff. Besides that, there was a small piece of white bread, which was a gift from Old John to Maureen yesterday.

The productivity level in this world is not high, and only nobles can enjoy white bread. For Morin, who had lived in the slums since childhood, this small piece of white bread was something he could not even think of.

Maureen looked at the white bread on the wooden table and let out a breath.

At this moment, the dilapidated wooden door was suddenly kicked open.

"Molin, Molin, where are you, come out!"

A rude voice sounded, followed by a sturdy man with a full beard rushing in.

Morin looked at the man and frowned. The man's name was Angre. He was a gangster in the neighborhood who cheated, stole, and did all kinds of bad things.

"Angel, what do you have..." Morin was about to ask something but was interrupted by Angel.

"Ah, white bread, and silver coins. I didn't expect that Old John would leave such things for you." Angre showed a look of surprise on his face. He walked straight forward and reached out to grab the silver coins and white bread.

Morin looked grim and said, "Angel, what are you doing? These things are mine!"

"Yours?" Angre looked at Morin with mockery in his eyes, and said, "Who said these things are yours? Now that I have seen them, then these things are mine."

"White bread is worthy of being something that only nobles can enjoy. It's really great that I, Angre, can actually eat white bread one day. Tsk tsk."

As Angrei spoke, he chewed the white bread in big mouthfuls and put the silver coins into his arms.

Maureen's face turned pale.

Because of the force, the knuckles of his clenched fists turned white.

"I originally thought I was just coming here to let you know, but I didn't expect there would be something good." After finishing his white bread, Angre clapped his hands and said, "Molin, the Duke's mansion is about to host a banquet. You should hurry up and go. Did you hear me?"

"Don't be late. You know, the Duke attaches great importance to this banquet. It is said that the guests are very special, some mysterious person or something like that. If you are late, hehe, think about the consequences yourself." Angre gave Morin a threatening look.

After saying that, Angre kicked open the wooden door and walked outside.

He patted his chest, listened to the crisp sound of the silver coins, and laughed triumphantly.

Listening to Angre's words, Morin thought about his own identity.

He was a servant in the mansion of the Duke of Scland in the city of Scland.

Moreover, because of their similar age, he also has a good relationship with Richard, the second young master of the Duke's house, and they can be considered good friends.

"Forget it. I'd better go to the Duke's house first. After all, I have just come into this world and am unfamiliar with everything. I'd better not make any mistakes. As for other things... there will be opportunities in the future anyway."

Morin looked at the direction where Angre left, his eyes flashing slightly.

Angre was just a scoundrel in the slums who had little knowledge. He only knew how to bully the weak and fear the strong. He had no knowledge at all and knew nothing about the Duke's Mansion. Of course, he had no channels to learn about it. Otherwise, how could he dare to bully Morin? And how could he stay in a slum?

This is a guy who has been hanging around on the streets since he was a kid. All he has in his eyes is a slum, and all he has in his mind are some trivial hooligans.

For such a gangster, Morin has too many ways to deal with him.

Of course, the most important thing now is to deal with the banquet in front of us.

Maureen simply packed up, changed into a servant's outfit, and left.

Following his memory, Morin came to the Duke's mansion.

"Hey, Maureen, here, I'm here, why are you here just now?" A boy about fifteen or sixteen years old shouted loudly when Maureen just appeared. He was Richard, the second son of the Duke of Scranton.

"Master Richard." Maureen nodded slightly.

"Come on, come on, Maureen, let's go in." Richard pulled Maureen and walked towards the Duke's Mansion. As he walked, he said, "Maureen, do you know? These are mysterious people, said to be legendary wizards. I heard that they are very powerful, and my father treats them with great respect."

Before Maureen could react, Richard pulled him into the Duke's mansion.
