I managed to blind one of its eyes, causing the beetle to begin thrashing in frustration, in an attempt to crush me with its bulk once again.
I'm much more confident now that I have the upper hand and easily step to the side while keeping out of its reach until finally, I see my opening.
The beetle is weakened and desperate causing it a mistake by exposing its underbelly as it rears back to deliver a wild charge. I spring forward, driving my spear deep into the soft flesh beneath its armored exterior. The creature convulses with its death throes echoing off the chamber walls before collapsing with a loud crash.
I withdraw and step back, after which I examine my handiwork with a surge of joy rushing through me.
