"Lan 'er, don't worry too much. Your father is the strongest man in the village and will soon return with lots of tasty monster beast meat" a middle aged woman was persuading a little girl who seems to be panicking.
"But mother, are the neighbors not saying that there are many powerful monsters this time?" Yu Lan still worried.
"But what they did not know was we got huge aid from the neighboring Juuko village and even Pitu sent few armor and weapons" the latter comforted.
"Still, I will pray to the goddess to protect my father" Yu Lan insisted and pray to a silver pendant with deep blue stone in the middle which looked very mythical.
The middle aged woman also reminisced about how when one of their ancestors saved a powerful goddess despite being severely sick. In return the goddess has given this pendant as a keepsake which shall protect them from all evils and also prevented the ancestor's illness deterioration.
It has been passed down from generation to generation and still valued highly for its magical power. The Yu family in Chen village is known to be very strong and healthy family. The others only think that the genes of Yu family are very powerful.
In the battlefield at the outskirts of Chen village, the kangaroo was very quick on its feet to jump and punched Ming Shin. He had to quickly dodge to his left and punched its chest. Though the beast was pushed back three steps, it barely caused any damage to it.
Meanwhile the kangaroo was astonished to find that Ming Shin's hand was still in one piece even after that heavy punch. They both pounced forward for another round when the kangaroo instantly switched to kick him with its powerful legs.
Yue Nai slowly approached the battlefield and made sure to hide her scent and control her breathing and focusing intently on Ming Shin's safety. The latter could also notice Yue Nai within his range of consciousness. He cannot utilize his fruit of cultivating the Boundless scripture now.
For a while he seemed to be on the defensive and stopped being aggressive. The kangaroo sought this as a sign of exhaustion from Ming Shin's side. It started to attack even more cruelly using it's powerful thigh muscles to jump high to dodge any sword strikes towards its legs.
Ming Shin who wanted to cripple it quickly by chopping its legs to take that muscle power away was faintly disappointed. He was also accumulation damage as the fight progressed.
His mind was running at very quick speed to figure out possible moves and also not relaxing his vigilance among other beasts surrounding them.
Just when he was gasping and running out of stamina, from the corner of an eye he caught an extremely sharp flying knife towards the front where the kangaroo was lunging forward. The monster beast also responded quickly but still could not dodge entirely and the knife passed through its left arm.
At the same time, it felt a cool sensation from its right leg. Just as it bowed it's head to see blood oozing out and a severed limb not far away, it felt a huge crisis.
Alas ! By losing its mobility, the impact caused it to move ore slowly that the mind anticipated. The next moment the kangaroo saw her body slowly falling to the ground while it seems to fly in the air.
Ming Shin looked behind and removed the black dagger from the kangaroo's left arm and nodded gratefully for the assist to where Yue Nai was hiding. She was surprised he could find her even after changing multiple spots.
Boom !!
Next moment, all the surrounding monster beasts were bewildered. Some of them were crazy and attacking the villagers with full power while the remaining are panicking and took multiple damage while fleeing.
In one of the serious fights apart from where Ming Shin was located a strong warrior was being besieged by two level 3 monsters. Even though he had level 2 armor and a spear, they were a bit heavy and hindering his mobility.
Also a mere Bone Forging cultivator fighting a level 2 beast was hard enough and now adding two more level 3 beasts joining the fray, his situation seemed perilous.
The other reinforcements were too far away and were pushed even behind by the fleeing monster beasts. He is scratched on his thighs and his neck was hurt pretty bad too. He was still fighting fiercely despite knowing that he might not survive this lynch.
Only remembering his wife and daughter's face could he keep fighting to keep these beasts away from his family. All of a sudden, one of the level 3 beasts fighting him was slide opened from behind. His burden decreased a lot and was able to escape another attack.
The other monster beasts were instantly scared by the scent of level 4 beast blood on Ming Shin and quickly fled from there. The last thing he saw was a young boy who was blood bathed and looked very ferocious before fainting with exhaustion.
With the retreat of all beasts, Mu Shen and all the warriors were relieved and soon there was cheering all around. They have noticed a young boy carrying a seriously wounded person towards them. Mu Shen felt wonderful that such a young boy seemed to be giving off a dangerous scent.
After handing him to the villagers to treat him soon with healing herbs, he wanted to get more news from other warfronts.
Mu Shen introduced himself "Hello young warrior, thank you for saving Yu Wenjun. I am Mu Shen, chief of the village".
The latter rolled his eyes "I know uncle Mu, you don't recognize me?" and chuckled.
Hearing his voice and the familiarity, he was still doubtful "M-Ming Shin??".
"Yeah, it is me uncle. I am glad to see less casualties and some brave warriors standing up to defend the village" Ming Shin remarked.
"Haha, it is you boy. You look very powerful now" the former was surprised even though he guessed. The last time he saw, Ming Shin could barely fight Tai Xun, but here he is looking so tall and strong.
Though he had a few questions to ask, he knew there were more priority things to do now. Mu Shen soon let all the warriors who got hurt to get treated while sending few volunteers to gather the data on the surviving people and the brave warriors who were killed.
The corpses of beasts and humans were also collected. The dead warrior's families were informed to give a good burial while the monster beast meat would be first feasted upon by the people who fought and then the whole village shall join in the celebrations.
Ming Shin also quickly washed himself at Mu clan's house and changed to new robes from his storage treasure. Since the Chen village is safe and is gathering news, he hurried back to Juuko to check the situation there.
After entering the village, he observed that people seemed to be too calm with no panic or heaviness.
'What is going on? What's with this atmosphere' he thought. Soon, he found a person standing not too far away from his carriage and was looking at him.
Ming Shin instantly jumped from the carriage and paid the coachman. He then exclaimed "Father, what are you doing here? What about the monster beast attack?".
Ming Jian was blank for a moment and had a heavy sigh "You have grown !!".
Ming Shin also controlled his emotions and nodded. He soon left with his father to their home while telling him all the things he faced when he was training outside Juuko a few years back.
Ming Jian was surprised to know that there was actually a huge attack on the convoy. 'Why? This did not happen before any convoys in the past century or so? he was thoughtful.
He was enraged knowing Tan Li's gruesome death hand how his son had to face such a trial. He knew how important Tan Li was to his wife. She was almost an inseparable elder sister to Ming Rui. He took a heavy breath and patted Ming Shin's shoulder.
"Do not burden yourself with guilt. You did nothing wrong and were brave enough to survive the ordeal" he had a hint of appreciation for his son and felt proud.
Ming Shin then described that he was saved from a brutal fight by Ya Min skipping the details of the help from the sky above. His memory is still a bit fuzzy about what happened then. He only remembers being saved by someone and waking up in a room.
Moreover telling things which he himself is unclear of would only create confusion and unnecessary doubts. He then told how he found a tribe which cared for him and he joined a unit.
He also skipped the part about Magic clan's history as it should not be told to anyone, even his parents. He roughly went over and said how he made enough contributions to cultivate to a strong person.
Though Ming Jian heard his son's story, where was he a fool. He knew that Shin had his own opportunities and also many painful ordeals and struggles to cultivate with such strong foundation.
Earlier when patting his shoulder, he could determine that his son opened up fort two meridians already. He himself had only opened fifty three meridians before transcending. He was also gratified that his son had excellent aptitude and such talent.
"So, how long are you planning to stay in the tribe? Did you come here to stay?" he asked.
"No, I will be starting my journey to Henji town a few months from now. Supreme chief of the tribe. Li Kui assured me that a strong team including me would be heading to Henji town in time for the five year assessment" Ming Shin replied honestly.
"Well, you also need to find a backer to enter the assessment as there is only limited quota" Ming Jian suggested. This was news to Ming Shin and he nodded.
"Also, one more important thing" Ming Jian stressed heavily with a glint of madness.
"I know father. I will find out everyone responsible for the plight of Aunt Li and kill them to the core" the latter replied with same ferocity.
"Well" the former nodded with appreciation.
