Rose gripped the tray tightly and looked away from Cassius.
His red eyes slowly receded and turned green again.
She wasn't comfortable standing defenseless in his room, she wanted to leave.
"If there's nothing else, I'll leave...sir," Roae bowed her head, summoned her courage, and walked toward the door.
Her heart was beating loudly as she approached him, but she was determined to leave the room and, hopefully, still find the Elves in the dark stairs; if not, she'd just be left to wander in a dark and unknown location.
She faced down as she stepped past him, silently rejoicing that he didn't stop her and hastened her footsteps, and soon stood in front of the door.
She transferred the tray and jug to one hand and pulled the door with her free hand.
Nothing.
She blinked and tried again, harder this time, maybe she hadn't pulled hard enough the last time.
Still nothing.
