Chapter 3 - Chapter 2

Eyes

The west side of Everhills did not have the best stores. A man, hooded and ragged looking walked out of the local store with his head down and his hands in his pockets.

He looked around frantically. His eyes locked on a car that had been parked for more than an hour.

"Hey, get out of here! You're going to scare my customers away." the store owner shouted as he threw a used can at the man. He looked straight in the eyes of the store owner. And as he did, the owner became subject to his dead, lifeless eyes. Feeling intimidated, he went back into his store.

"Fuck, im still here?!" the detective noted in shock. "Damit, I'm going to be–" before he could finish, the ragged man from the store banged against the windows of his car. With a tired and annoyed look, the detective jumped out of his car. "You're going to have to stop that bud, or else I'm going to have to arrest you." the man gave no response, he simply just looked at him and pulled out a knife. "Oh come on man, I really don't have time for this." Screaming, the man ran to stab the detective to death. With minimum effort the detective dodged his attack and pinned him to the ground. " I really didn't want to have to arrest someone on a Saturday"

He pulled out his cuffs and lifted the man's sleeve, on his wrist was a symbol of some kind. "Where did you get this?" the detective asked. But there was no response, just grunting and struggling. "Alright then, not much of a talker" he quickly whipped out his phone and took a picture of the symbol. Once he was done, he got the man in the back of his car where he had been sleeping. Tiredly he got in the driver's seat and started the car.

From afar, as the car drove away, a mysterious figure watched it all attentively.

"Come on lion, we've got to go. The parties about to start!" Ariel shouted outside Leon's door. Leon looked at himself for one last time. He hated getting ready for parties.

"I guess this works," Leon said with a tone as convincing as someone saying the earth is flat. Ariel barged into his room, tired of waiting.

"Come on!" she shouted as she grabbed him and pulled him out of his room. She released her grip once they were down stairs. Ariel looked Leon up and down, with a look of respect and amusement. "You aren't wearing black today, and you actually look good in it" She said as she patted his head.

"Yeah, whatever" Leon responded as he took a step back, irritated by all the head pats. His dad walked by, looked at Leon with a bottle of beer in one hand, and a ham sandwich in the other. He simply shrugged and continued on his way to the living room.

"Dad, I'm out, and I'm taking the car!" Leon shouted as Ariel played with her hair.

"Alright, it's yours anyway."

The ride to the party was quite annoying, Ariel had the worst taste in music. "Can we listen to something else besides Taylor Swift?" Leon pleaded.

"Why, don't you like her, she's a great artist you know."

"No she's not," Leon argued.

"Your just a hater"

"Whatever"

"Where are they?" Luke asked himself as he twirled his drink. The party was loud, and one of the biggest he had ever thrown. Instead of going to the usual club, he decided to host it in an abandoned building once owned by his father. He sighed and downed the drink in a single go. Riot walked up to him in his usual nonchalant manner, holding a bottle of juice.

"You seem stressed," he noted as he took a sip of his drink.

"Really?" Luke remarked.

"I haven't heard from Kent in a while, he usually keeps in touch. I'm kind of worried about him" Riot said as he ignored Lukes remark.

"Neither have I, it is kind of strange actually" Luke pushed up against the wall. All this stress was killing him. A girl, pretty and probably drunk, came up to both of them.

"Hey boys, how are you doing?" she asked, if she wasnt drunk she would have done a better job of sounding seductive and grabbing their attention. With notable irritation, Riot asked, "what do you want?"

"You seem feisty," she noted.

"And you seem drunk, very drunk" Luke said as he stared down at her.

"I know, it makes it much easier for the both of us."

"I'm out," Riot said in disgust as he walked away, Luke followed suit.

"Come one boys don't be like that" she said, reaching out for the both of them. Someone came up from behind her and said, "you know, I'm always available"

"Oh hell no!" she slapped him straight across the face.
