...

Once night fell, Haldor stood atop the Silver Tower, watching as the capital glimmered faintly. Fighting a war that shouldn't be his felt like it was his purpose for living a second chance.

If he wanted to live a peaceful life, he had to take on his responsibilities and survive in the process. He could only stay in the game of power thanks to his dragon, the largest in the seven kingdoms, often compared to Balerion, known as the Black Dread.

The worst part was that this dragon was not even ten years old yet. How large would it be after another ten years? Haldor didn't know when these dragons stopped growing, but fortunately, they managed to feed on whales and giant turtles beyond the seas controlled by humans.

"I hope the balance of power isn't broken by foolish decisions." Haldor murmured as he watched his dragon fly back and forth.

Of course, he wouldn't be the one to disrupt the peaceful life among the seven kingdoms. His mention of increasing the power of humans was because he truly feared they wouldn't be able to face the darkness.

Many had suggested he become the ruler once he had the power to do so easily, but he had refused because it would weaken them in every way.

Besides, being a king was something that might happen even if he didn't seek it, given that the current heir wouldn't live past twenty years, thirty if he was lucky, and Queen Aemma couldn't have children after being treated with magic.

Lucian had ensured that she couldn't have more children; Aemma would die if she tried to have another child due to the conditions of childbirth.

But having Rhaenyra as a consort and commander of the coalition army, maybe she could do that job, and Haldor would only serve when problems arose, something like being the one she could always turn to if they arose for him more. He didn't want to exert too much effort because he wanted to live a different life, but that alone would be enough to keep human strength strong.

"I could create my own region from scratch, a city according to the most advanced and secure construction it could offer. Something I could strive for and a safe place to protect my closest ones. If it were that way, I wouldn't fight for such a lousy capital."

Looking at it in any way, Haldor knew that problems would come to the crown, but those weren't his concerns.

"Could someone like me have lived peacefully on a mountain?" Haldor thought the answer would be no, all because there were still things he needed to do.

Moreover, he would never be truly peaceful with his dragon causing terror wherever it went. For now, it slept with the armored bears; they appreciated the cold that Azazel's body emitted, and when he wasn't nearby, he created their frozen zone.

"Are the materials being sent to the areas where the towns will be developed?"

"We have the territories under development. With the authorization of the Lord in the north, the construction of the bases near the border of that territory has begun."

Haldor nodded. Now he just had to wait and find out who had tried to assassinate him earlier.
