"Welcome, ladies and gentlemen. First, I must thank you all for your patience. Knowing that the place is full, the auction has begun!"
A few seconds later, the auctioneer, a middle-aged man, began explaining the special rules for this auction.
Rafael, the manager of this branch, entered with a square object in his hands, which were covered with fine leather gloves. This square object was covered by a white cloth, and he placed it on a table in the center.
The following items were presented one by one to the audience: There was no starting price, and as known in an auction, the highest bidder won the item if no one else spoke after three calls.
After naming the basic rules of the auction, Rafael walked to the center of the platform and handed a wooden box to the auctioneer.
The auctioneer opened the wooden box and presented a beautiful purple material. "This material you see before you is the main item of the auction. What you see is a material from the sky, one that, if forged, could create a sword or armor of such high quality that it would have no comparison in the Seven Kingdoms."
"What does that mean? I heard the main item of this auction was supposed to be a sword! Besides that, there was supposed to be high-quality armor competing with that sword." Someone in the crowd suddenly interrupted the auctioneer's presentation.
"Damn barbarian, they should cut out his tongue for speaking and interrupting the auctioneer. He's wasting my time," Ravyn murmured with a cold expression.
Haldor, standing beside her, only smiled. Those were his thoughts too, though he hadn't voiced them. The irony was that they were considered barbarians, men from the north with no concept of law or order.
The auctioneer on stage frowned; he really disliked being interrupted while speaking.
"We usually don't show the items up for auction, but as you can now see, we will show them before the bidding begins. We did this because there are really valuable items today, so we were considerate enough to show you all the items up for auction so you know what to bid on."
"To my left, the next item is a rainbow diamond. This rainbow diamond, besides being beautiful, is extremely rare in the Seven Kingdoms because there will never be another like it."
When the beautiful rainbow crystal was displayed, all the nobles in the private rooms exclaimed with excitement. After all, what woman wouldn't be won over by a ring featuring that diamond?
Any beautiful woman would marry a noble who could offer her such valuable material, making her stand out among other women around her. That's why this undoubtedly sparked the interest of many.
"Incredible! I must obtain that item, no matter the cost."
"I'm sure I'll win the hand of the lady from House Hightower. I must buy it!"
"Please, everyone must calm down. Remember that each item will have its turn, so stay calm!"
At that moment, the third item of the auction was presented to everyone. It was a sword that Haldor had chosen to sell. Although it had nothing extraordinary about it, it could withstand very strong impacts from enemies.
To Haldor's eyes, this sword wasn't worth much since it had nothing special. But for others, this sword was actually a treasure that only a king could wield.
Regarding the auctioneer's impressive presentation, Haldor didn't hear it clearly as he was distracted talking to Agror about the most powerful men and beasts.
But as time passed, it was the auctioneer's presentation that made Haldor lose interest in attending.
What surprised him more was that this simple sword, which started with a few interested bidders, eventually attracted the attention of the truly wealthy in this place. Finally, a noble in a private room bought the sword for 10,000 gold coins.
That amount is astronomical for commoners, who rarely in their lives have touched a gold coin, let alone forty thousand of that level.
The second item auctioned was a silver armor with high defensive attributes. To Haldor, who was selling all these items, it didn't interest him in the slightest to see that scene, and the armor finally sold for 3,000 gold coins.
Next were true works of art that couldn't be forged by ordinary people, at least not those without the advanced age to have lost such knowledge. Haldor's curiosity about what lay beyond this continent gradually grew.
"1,000!"
"2,000!"
"7,500!"
The auction had just started, and the bids came immediately.
"Where were those items created?" Haldor looked at Agror, who was theoretically the owner of these franchises.
Agror stared at that magical item on stage and said, "Those kinds of items are not usually made frequently, let alone sold in this type of auction. Creating those items often costs many valuable materials, and it's not always a success for the maker."
Immediately after, Haldor looked at the next item he hadn't put up for auction and became a bit interested: "That next item, it's quite interesting. Is it a box of fruits? Is there something special about it?"
"They are said to be magical fruits, beneficial for healing wounds and giving the sick greater vitality. Also, those who eat them accelerate their recovery, and the best part is they are very delicious." Agror explained this with a slight smile on his lips.
At that moment, the price of the previous item reached the figure of 10,000 gold coins.
"The next item is about to be auctioned!"
