Chapter 24 - What Is Coming?

Winterfell, House Stark.

The Starks are a house of very ancient lineage, descendants of the First Men. After the construction of Winterfell by Brandon the Builder, he offered to help the newly formed Night's Watch with the building of the great wall, the largest defensive structure in all of Westeros, to separate the free folk from the rest of the Seven Kingdoms. After repelling the wildlings, Brandon decided to establish a new lineage in the North and founded the Stark family.

This was the known story, but no one remembers that this Wall was created to keep the White Walkers away from what are now recognized as the Seven Kingdoms, and now they will remember.

The so-called lands beyond the wall are basically wild and unknown. The climate is harsh and bitter, especially in the far north of the lands of eternal winter. The lands beyond the Wall are cold all year round, and it is surprising how many wildlings reside in the territory. They gather in small villages and form tribes.

No one would have expected to find a large army ready to march south to reclaim the lands that were theirs by right, which they deserved after being expelled from their lands.

"In the name of Harald Hardrada, King of Frostgard, the first of his names, lord of the lands of the Rhoynar and men of the extreme north, I request a meeting with the current Lord of House Stark to discuss important matters awaiting in the north."

"If you participate, you will learn more about the fate of your daughter, who ventured into the extreme cold, and your peace of mind, along with that of many northerners, may be calm for the rest of the year."

"If you refuse to listen to me, you will not only regret not attending the meeting, but you will also face a fury that does not befit you. Remember, winter is coming."

A man named Rickon looked at the letter that had arrived, listened to the words of the Stark who had been selected as the messenger, and remained thoughtful.

"That guy had a dragon, a very large one the size of four houses, and black steel armor. His emblems are those of a country and drops of water; he wore a cloak and seemed very confident to land right in the center of the headquarters."

Rickon waited for this young man to finish speaking and asked, "What was his hair color?"

"White as snow, strong blue eyes that seemed to glow, and when he spoke to us, there were layers of ice on his face."

"This is not our war, but we are doomed to it." Rickon Stark looked at the letter, mentioning the strength and arrogance that the Rhoynar had.

Rickon's right-hand man looked at his wife and said, "In ancient stories, there was a war. The Rhoynar were the only ones who faced the powerful Targaryens, who sent hundreds of dragons in response to their attack."

"The magic of the Rhoynar was powerful, so much so that hundreds of dragons died before they were defeated. As a strategy, the Rhoynar wanted to use the North as a passage to bring a group of wizards and strong descendants, which we refused to do."

"At that time, we didn't know what would happen to the Rhoynar, but shortly after, we learned that they used ships to pass through the cold waters of the North. We thought they would die; we really believed that, and no one remembered them until now."

"My Lord, we should inform the current Targaryens and warn them before a war touches the doors of the Seven Kingdoms."

Rickon shook his head and said, "We are not going to warn them, not when the Rhoynar see us with indifference. I will talk to them to find out what they want. If this war is going to be between dragons, we won't get too involved in the beginning."

"Are they really the Rhoynar?"

"That's what we are going to find out."

...

In the tower, Haldor was watching as all the soldiers were loading the armor onto the ships to depart for the Silver Island.

"Was it really a wise decision?" Lucian was not convinced of how hasty Haldor was being about this.

"I'm not going to let the old ones lead us to war, not when the whole world is in danger from the White Walkers returning, and I can't find a way to get the wildlings out of the villages," Haldor said without a second thought.
