The ride back to the house was quiet and awkward, Nina kept on whimpering and shivering in the front seat as Marcus stirred the car to the villa.
A knife could slice through the thickness of the tension in the car, Nina was babbling rubbish and Marcus was angry, Caroline could see that with the way his hands gripped the steering and how his blue eyes looked darker.
Caroline was confused, it had all hit her in a daze and she knew she didn't have anything to do with it, Nina had staged it all for this same attention. Her question was, how had Marcus shown up at that exact moment, didn't work close at six?
"Why did you leave the office so early?" She asked, led by pure curiosity, it was probably not the right decision but the question had dropped and now Marcus stopped the car and was looking at her with daggers in his eyes.
