Chapter 57 - The First Event: Basketball

Later that evening, as Ayanokoji returned to his classmates to check on their training progress, he received a message on his phone. It was from Chabashira Sae.

"I agree. If you can lead Class C to victory tomorrow, I'll become your sex slave, as you requested. I'll serve you in any way you desire. I'm putting my trust in you, Ayanokoji."

Ayanokoji smirked slightly, his cold, calculating eyes reflecting the screen's glow. Chabashira had accepted his terms, just as he predicted she would. It wasn't just the allure of power and control over her that motivated him—it was the knowledge that he could manipulate anyone and bend them to his will when he deemed it necessary.

He tucked his phone away, his mind already shifting back to the task at hand. The Event Selection Exam was less than 24 hours away, and despite the chaos of the past week, everything was falling into place exactly as he had planned.

~~

The day of the Event Selection Exam had finally arrived.

The air was thick with anticipation, and each class was buzzing with last-minute preparations. Students moved nervously through the hallways, discussing strategies and reviewing the finer details of their respective events. Class C was no different, but unlike the other classes, their commander, Ayanokoji Kiyotaka, remained calm, his expression unchanging as ever. He walked with quiet confidence toward the room where the commanders would gather, leaving his classmates to prepare on their own.

The rules of the exam were simple yet demanding: each class had submitted ten events, and from those, seven would be randomly selected for the final competition. The commanders would then lead their classmates by issuing commands through a computer, giving them strategic instructions that could tip the balance of the match.

Ayanokoji entered the designated room where the commanders would be stationed. It was a large room with minimal décor, only a few desks, chairs, and individual monitor setups. A single monitor, a keyboard, a mouse, a microphone, and a pair of headphones awaited each commander.

Sakayanagi Arisu, the commander for Class A, was already seated, her crutch propped up against the desk. She offered Ayanokoji a playful smile as he took his place next to her.

"I've been looking forward to this," she said in her usual confident tone. "Let's see how well Class C can keep up."

Ayanokoji simply nodded in acknowledgment, not taking the bait. His mind was already on the tasks ahead.

As the other commanders entered the room, a slight murmur ran through the crowd. Ichinose Honami, Class B's commander, had an expression of surprise on her face. She quickly made her way to her desk but couldn't help glancing toward Class D's station, where something unexpected had happened.

Instead of Satoru Kaneda, the original Class D commander, Ryuen Kakeru had taken his place.

Ichinose stared at Ryuen in disbelief, her brow furrowing in confusion. But then, her gaze shifted to Ayanokoji, and a look of understanding crossed her face. She remembered their private conversation a few days earlier when Ayanokoji had warned her about the possibility of Ryuen stepping in as commander for Class D.

Had he not alerted her to this development beforehand, she might have been completely thrown off by the substitution. Instead, she quickly composed herself, sending Ayanokoji a grateful look, subtly nodding in acknowledgment. Ayanokoji responded with a barely perceptible glance in her direction, his expression still as unreadable as ever.

After a brief announcement from the exam proctor, who explained the procedures one last time, the commanders were ready to begin.

"Good luck," Sakayanagi said softly, giving Ayanokoji a sidelong glance. There was no malice in her tone, just genuine interest in the challenge ahead.

"You too," Ayanokoji replied in a monotone voice before focusing on the monitor in front of him.

The screen flickered to life, and the list of twenty events appeared before both commanders. The selection process began, with the events randomly being chosen for the day's competition.

The first event selected: Basketball.

Participants:

Class A: Machida Kōji, Toba Shigeru, Kamuro Masumi, Shimizu Naoki, and Kitō Hayato.

Class C: Makida Susumu, Minami Setsuya, Ike Kanji, Hondō Ryotarō, and Onodera Kayano.

For Class C, Ayanokoji decided to implement a commander switch. He substituted Sudō Ken in place of Ike Kanji, knowing that Sudō's basketball skills far surpassed that of any other student in their class.

As Sudō entered the court with the rest of the team, Ayanokoji's voice came through the headphones, calm and steady.

"Sudō, you're our ace here. Focus on controlling the pace of the game. You need to dominate in the paint, get rebounds, and use your physicality to intimidate the opposing team. Don't overthink it—just play to your strengths. Minami and Onodera will support you, but it's on you to keep the pressure on Kitō. Don't let him outmuscle you."

Sudō grinned to himself, feeling a surge of confidence from Ayanokoji's straightforward instructions. "Got it," he replied, tightening his grip on the basketball.

From the sidelines, Class C gathered around to watch the match with bated breath. Chabashira-sensei stood nearby, her arms folded as she watched the two teams line up on the court. Despite her stern expression, there was a glint of excitement in her eyes. Class C had been an underdog for so long, but today, they were about to prove themselves against the top-ranked Class A.

The whistle blew, and the game began.

Sudō immediately took control, using his height and strength to dominate the court. Kitō Hayato, Class A's strongest player, attempted to block him at every opportunity, but Sudō was relentless. He muscled past Kitō, grabbing rebounds and scoring with ease. His teammates supported him well, following Ayanokoji's instructions to spread the floor and allow Sudō to shine.

On the other side, Machida Kōji and Toba Shigeru of Class A tried to rally their team, relying on their speed and coordination to outmaneuver Class C's defense. However, every time they made progress, Sudō was there to shut them down with his aggressive play.

The game was tight, with both teams exchanging points back and forth. But in the final moments, Sudō made a decisive play. With less than a minute left on the clock and the score tied, Sudō managed to break free from Kitō's defense and scored a powerful dunk that sent the crowd into a frenzy.

The buzzer sounded, and Class C emerged victorious with a final score of 48-46.

Ayanokoji watched the screen as the results were displayed. His expression didn't change, but he allowed himself a small internal nod of satisfaction. It was a calculated victory—Sudō had executed the plan perfectly, and their class had pulled through.

From across the room, Chabashira-sensei watched as the results were confirmed. Her lips curled into a subtle smile, a rare expression of pride for her class. They had won the first event, and that victory was crucial for their momentum going forward.

As her eyes shifted toward Ayanokoji, she noticed him glancing in her direction. It was a brief look, but it carried weight. She subtly nodded in return, acknowledging the unspoken message between them: she hadn't forgotten their deal.

Chabashira's mind flashed back to their conversation the previous day in her office, where Ayanokoji had made his outrageous proposal. At the time, she had been stunned by his confidence and audacity, but now... she couldn't deny the results. If Ayanokoji could truly lead Class C to victory in this exam, she would have no choice but to honor her end of the bargain.

Her heart pounded in her chest as she quickly looked away, her mind racing with thoughts of what was to come.

The basketball game was over, but the exam had only just begun. There were still six more events to go, and the competition would only get fiercer from here on out.

As the commanders prepared for the next event, Ayanokoji continued to issue instructions to his classmates, carefully guiding them through each event. He remained calm and composed, never letting the pressure of the situation affect his judgment.

Sakayanagi, on the other hand, seemed to enjoy the challenge. She smiled at Ayanokoji from time to time, clearly relishing the opportunity to face him in a battle of wits and strategy.

"You're better than I expected," she admitted during a brief pause between events. "But don't think I'll let you win so easily. Class A won't go down without a fight."

Ayanokoji merely nodded, his expression unreadable. He didn't need to respond with words; his actions would speak for themselves.
