Far away from the University on the other side of Rosen Valley Madam Minerva and Victor have come to the old mansion to meet the elder vampire who has awakened. It was the place where Victor was born and raised. But the memories that linger the most here were the tragic ones rather than happy ones.
When they reached the butler opened the door and bowed waiting for them to enter. But Victor had another plan. "You should go first. I'll be coming after some time." Victor said to his aunt before they could enter the mansion and walked away. She also didn't say anything as she knew the reason.
"My lady, the lord is waiting for you and the young master in his study." The butler informed politely and Madam Minerva nodded. "I'll go and meet him now. Victor will be returning soon." She informed and went to meet the elder vampire.
Victor on the other hand was now standing in front of a grave. This was the place where his mother Lady Isabelle was buried.
She passed away when he was only seven. The physician of that time said that she was poisoned with silver-mary leaf which caused the corruption to her core. The vampires are told to be immortal creatures but the corruption of their core can be the reason for their death.
Beside the grave of Lady Isabelle was the grave of Lord Vlad, Victor's father. There was another grave beside his father's which was his younger sister Rosetta's.
She was only sixteen when she died. His father and sister were killed in this very mansion in a massacre that took place three hundred years ago.
It was not only the mansion but the whole town of Rosen Valley where the massacre took place. It was the black witches who were behind this massacre. Many humans and werewolves were slaughtered for sacrifice while the vampires and the pure-blooded vampires were poisoned for their hearts to get corrupted. This caused many of them to go rogue and they started killing each other.
Many lost their lives and many families were destroyed on that very day. Only a few survived who were out of the town that day. Victor and his aunt Madam Minerva were out of town at that time.
Victor hated the black witches from his core. Because of them, he had lost his family. It's good that they went extinct otherwise he would have been hunting and killing them himself.
Victor closed his eyes as the memories of the past started flooding his mind. Pain has turned into anguish. Many years passed but the void in his heart remained the same. After losing his mother his aunt Madam Minerva, his sister Rosetta, and his father was the only family left while his grandfather was in hibernation.
After that incident, Victor went to hibernate to escape these tragic memories leaving his aunt to manage this land. Now here he is once again.
On the other hand, Madam Minerva was now in the study. In front of her was the elder vampire sitting on a couch. He had eyes that resembled the midnight black sky and sleek black hair with a few strands of gray on it which was combed to the back elegantly. He looked around the age of fifty to fifty-five but was far beyond that.
Madam Minerva informed him about everything that occurred in his absence. After hearing everything he turned furious. His midnight black eyes were now bloodshot red.
But it was interrupted when there was a knock on the door and the butler informed Victor's arrival. This made the elder vampire's eyes go back to normal and shifted his mood to an excited one.
As soon as Victor entered he was welcomed with a bone-crushing hug from his grandfather. He could swear that if he were a human his ribs would have been crushed from the hug. As he was a vampire it didn't do him any harm.
The elder vampire looked at him curiously after stepping away a little. "Look at you. You have grown just as handsome as me." He commented and grinned looking at his grandson proudly.
Victor rolled his eyes at his narcissistic comment and the elder vampire laughed out loud in amusement and said, "I see you are still the same as you were little."
"You also haven't changed even after having a long slumber. Full of narcissistic remarks." Victor replied with a bored tone and the elder vampire's grin widened as he stared at him in amusement.
The elder vampire seeing his remaining family members after a long time decided to have dinner together with them and chat. So he ordered the butler to set the table.
Far away from the elder vampire's mansion in the girl's dormitory Eve just stepped out after taking a shower. Her classes will be starting from tomorrow onwards. That's why she decided to sleep early. Emily had treated her to dinner as promised.
They ate alone as Alex didn't join them for dinner. Emily said to her that he had gone out of the university to attend some family business.
But the truth was he was summoned by his father because the lord of Rosen Valley had awakened. Alex and Emily's father was the viscount at that time before the massacre. Eve was far from the truth.
She was going to bed when a knock interrupted her. She turned to open the door but stopped when she noticed a letter lying on the floor near the door and it read: "Stay away from Alex or you're going to regret it."
Eve quickly opened her dorm door to go and look for the person who had sent her a letter as a warning. But instead, she came face to face with the warden who had a lantern in her hand.
"What are you out here at this hour? Why are you not in your bed?" She asked Eve. "I heard someone knock that's why I opened the door to see who it was," Eve replied to the warden and skipped the letter-receiving part as she decided to investigate it herself. The warden looked around them but saw no one and stared at Eve suspiciously to see if she was lying to her.
She pursed her lips and said, "You should go and sleep now. Breaking the rules by roaming around at night after the curfew will earn you detention. Please lock the door, close the window, and draw the curtains before switching off the lights." Eve nodded then entered her dorm and locked the door after closing.
"What a weird rule," she murmured and kept the warning letter inside the pages of one of her notebooks. She did what she was told to and went to bed.
As her head touched the pillow exhaustion took over and her eyelids grew heavy with sleep. Soon she drifted off to dreamland where she saw the same thing she saw this morning. Her eyelids moving rapidly and she was sweating profusely as her breathing grew heavier. The pendant around her neck started glowing also.
A gasp escaped her lips and she sat up. She was feeling cold and when her eyes fell on the pendant she saw it glowing. She looked around the room to see fog everywhere. Confusion and fear clouded her mind as she quickly reached for her torch beside the pillow and turned it on. When she turned on the torch the fog dissipated and the temperature turned normal. She found nothing.
"Is my mind playing tricks on me?" She asked herself. She got down from the bed and opened her cabinet drawer to keep the pendant that she had taken off. She kept it in a small wooden box and then put it in the drawer before locking it.
Her mind was replaying what just happened after she fell asleep and after she woke up. Eventually, she fell asleep again for a few hours only to wake up when the alarm started ringing. She was having a terrible headache. It was 5.30 am and her class was starting at 9 in the morning.
So she decided to freshen up and go for a morning walk hoping it would help her mind to relax.
