Everyone in the college is stressed about mid-term exams. Those who never bothered to attend any lectures are seemingly prepared for an F. Then there is Meg, who is as calm as always. Her expression relays that she's least bothered; however, her heart is racing.
Meg is anxious about her sports credits. Although she's concerned about her exams more than that she is worried about the annual sports meet held right after the exams. Meg is not a sports person. Unless and until it's required she never participates in anything. To maintain her scholarship she not only has to maintain academic credit but should also be active in games.
Last year she managed to escape staying a substitute, but it's not gonna work every single time. Meg is at the library with her head resting on the table, when a girl approaches her."Is this seat available? ", asks the girl. Meg doesn't care to answer as she's already muddle-headed. The girl pulls out the chair to sit causing a screeching sound. She hides from people's eyes and introduces herself to Meg." I'm Renne, Renne Irving. We are in the same class". She waits for Meg to say something but in vain."Well I knew this was gonna happen", whispers Renne looking away. Renne is a tall girl with pale skin almost as if she has whitewash on. Although her voice is squeaky, she defines it as the perfect voice for any girl.
"I... need your help with my assignment", says Renne in a low voice leaning towards Meg. "Would you help me", asks Renne with puppy eyes. Meg gives her a death stare. Renne gasps and takes a deep breath. She dares not to run away because Meg is her last resort who can get her out of this situation. Otherwise, she won't be able to sit in the exams. Gathering her courage she rotates her neck towards Meg."I need your help with the literary criticism. Please, please. Just say yes, begs Renne folding her hands. Meg walks away. Renne thinks she's on her own but Meg appears with a book. She places it in front of Renne.
Renne often asked Meg for help and she even helped her. Renne was passing by the badminton court when she saw Meg sitting there. It was the first time Renne saw Meg interested in something else her books. She walked up to her and asked "What's with the gloomy look? ", smacking her shoulder. "Sorry, I crossed my limits", sighed Renne. Meg didn't say anything. "Ugh! I need to guess as always. You are worried about the annual sports event, right". Meg looks at her with a ray of hope in her eyes. " I knew it", exclaimed Renne making a victory fist.
Even though Meg was a part of the badminton club, she never once stepped there. Renne thought of helping her." I think I know what I need to do", thought Renne in her mind. "I know someone who can save your sinking boat", assured Renne with a smirk on her face.
