Chapter 6 - Appeasement

In the following days, Stel focused his attention on Elsie. It had to be said, even though they were once boyfriend and girlfriend, Elsie had always refused to be intimate with Stel. Stel hadn't had the chance to take things further with Elsie before she ran off with Tyler.

After everything that had happened, they were back to square one, and Stel finally possessed Elsie. In the mornings, Elsie had to wake up early to help Stel dress. Sometimes, when Stel was in the mood, Elsie had to provide special care.

The food they ate was mostly the emergency supplies Stel had brought. Although it was nutritious, the taste was still hard to swallow.

"Master, what are we doing today?" Elsie asked, kneeling on the floor after Stel got dressed.

Over the past few days, Elsie had adapted to this lifestyle, even developing a bit of a submissive nature. For example, she wouldn't dare eat without Stel's permission, including at bedtime.

"Yes, the number of zombies downstairs seems to have increased today, and the phone signal is still weak."

After waking up, Stel habitually checked his phone, finding the signal still weak.

"Could it be that the signal stations around here were destroyed during the zombie outbreak?"

"Today, I need to exercise. You can wait nearby."

"Yes."

The first thing Stel did after getting up was a five-hour workout. To maintain his muscle strength, he couldn't reduce his exercise time. However, he hadn't thought to bring workout equipment when he left. So, Stel used Elsie as his exercise equipment.

"Come here, be my dumbbell," Stel ordered.

Elsie obediently ran to Stel's side. Stel grabbed her arms and legs, using her as a dumbbell. Elsie weighed around 90 pounds, which was still too light for Stel.

"Ah..."

Stel's behavior was very rough; he didn't care about Elsie's well-being. He used her in whatever way he found convenient. Besides using her as a dumbbell, Stel would have Elsie lie on his back when he did weighted push-ups, using her as a substitute for a weighted sandbag.

"Master, your back muscles are so developed, completely different from before," Elsie said, feeling the hard yet flexible muscles of Stel pressed against her. She felt a strange sensation in her heart, especially when Stel moved her up and down.

"If you keep talking nonsense, I'll throw you out," Stel threatened coldly.

Elsie wisely shut her mouth immediately.

The following days were repetitive for Stel. At night, Stel would still sleep on the bed as usual. Tonight, the sky was clear, not covered by clouds, and lying on the bed, one could see the stars spread across the sky.

For some reason, Stel found it hard to sleep tonight. He looked up at the starry sky, muttering to himself, "Even in the apocalypse, the starry sky hasn't changed a bit."

"Master, do you miss home?" Elsie asked from her makeshift bed on the floor. Like Stel, she couldn't sleep. When they were still boyfriend and girlfriend, Stel had told her about his family background. He had left his hometown to live in the big city, intending to find a good job and bring his girlfriend back home to get married when the time was right. But then the zombie outbreak happened.

Zombies appeared worldwide, and Stel worried that his hometown might be infested with zombies like here.

"Just go to sleep," Stel replied irritably.

Tonight, Stel didn't have any intimate interaction with Elsie. While Elsie should have felt relieved, she suddenly felt an emptiness in her heart, as if something was missing.

As Stel was deep in thought, the bed suddenly shook.

"Creak, creak..."

Stel sat up to find that Elsie had jumped onto the bed.

With her face half-flushed, Elsie said to Stel, "Master, did you forget to do something today? Is that why you can't sleep?"

As she spoke, Elsie's body was pressed tightly against Stel's thigh, her tone seductive. But Stel wasn't in the mood.

"When did it become your place to remind me? Get off."

"But Master..." Seeing her attempt at seduction fail, Elsie looked disappointed.

"If you don't want to be thrown out, then shut up and go to sleep."

"Yes..." Elsie reluctantly got off the bed and hid under her blanket.

In the beginning, Stel found Elsie somewhat novel. But as time passed, his interest in her waned. No matter how hard Elsie tried to flaunt her charms, she could only arouse a little interest in Stel.

After a while, Stel decided to close his eyes and try to sleep. Just then, he heard a noise from the other side of the wall.

"Are we really going out?" A woman's voice came from the neighboring room.

Stel was startled to realize that there were people next door. He listened more closely to their conversation.

"We have no choice. We're out of food. If we don't go out, we'll starve to death sooner or later," a man's voice replied.

"So, there's another couple living next door," Stel thought.

"But it seems like there's someone next door too. Why don't we ask him for some food?" the woman suggested.

"Idiot, haven't you heard what's been happening these past few days? That man next door has been torturing his woman. If we don't become their food, we'll be lucky. And you want to ask for food!"

"If you want to die, go ahead!"

Hearing the man's words, Stel felt a sudden impulse. He wanted to rush over and slit the man's throat, then have his way with the woman.

Stel continued to listen to their conversation.

"But with so many zombies outside, how are we supposed to go out?"

"Don't worry, look at all those zombies downstairs; they're not moving. I guess, just like in the movies, at night they can't see sunlight and lose their ability to move. As long as we sneak out quietly, these dumb dogs won't notice us."

"Alright..."

Stel let out a cold laugh. This couple was truly naive. Did they think zombies were that stupid? Zombies rely not just on sight to hunt their prey but also on hearing and smell. The hallway was still filled with zombies, and leaving the room now was suicidal!

However, the next moment, Stel heard the sound of a door opening from the next room. He pressed his ear against the wall and indeed heard the shuffling of footsteps in the hallway.

Stel was shocked. These two fools had actually left their room!

"Ah!!!!!!"

"Help me, help me!"

A few seconds later, the woman's scream pierced the silence.
