Despite this, she still considered the possibility of launching a counterattack, even though she knew her adversary was formidable. She reasoned that the enemy was probably only slightly stronger than she was.
If they were significantly more powerful, they would have attacked more boldly, rather than waiting until she had sent one of her armies out.
