Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: The Exorcist Association

After Liu Yiyi left, the wound on Jiang Ming's chest quickly stopped bleeding and began to heal at a visible speed. Over the past eighteen years, Jiang Ming rarely got sick, and even if he did, he recovered quickly. The most amazing thing was that he could heal rapidly even from cuts.

Because of this, Jiang Ming's parents had once taken him to the hospital for a check-up. However, the doctors were puzzled and simply said that Jiang Ming's body was special, without any problems, and advised Jiang Ming's parents to keep his condition a secret.

With his hands crossed, Jiang Ming clutched the bloodstain on his white shirt and walked through the entrance of the residential area.

When the elevator doors opened, Jiang Ming quickly entered and pressed the button for his floor. As the elevator slowly ascended, each stop on the way made his heart beat faster. He kept repeating his parents' words in his mind, pondering the mystery of his origins.

At the door of his home, Jiang Ming felt a surge of nervousness. He pushed open the door and stepped into the familiar and warm living room. The room was quiet and dimly lit, as if waiting for his return.

His parents' bedroom door was half-open, and Jiang Ming knew they had been waiting for him. He carefully took off his bloodstained clothes and changed into clean ones. Every action felt heavy and filled with a sense of powerlessness.

Just as he was about to confess everything to his parents, he heard a sudden rush of footsteps outside. Jiang Ming looked up to see his parents' anxious faces, their eyes full of worry and unease.

"Ming, you're back!" His mother's voice was filled with barely concealed emotion.

Jiang Ming nodded lightly, not knowing how to start, feeling engulfed in an indescribable chaos. His eyes focused on the teacup on the table, unsure of what to say.

All these years, he had always believed he was his parents' biological son, never imagining there was such a secret behind it.

"Ming, to us, you have always been our child," Lin Huilin said softly, her eyes full of concern.

Jiang Zhengyun held Jiang Ming's hand gently and said, "Child, no matter what happens, you are our most precious treasure."

Jiang Ming was silent for a moment, slowly starting to accept the truth. After all, this wouldn't change his feelings towards his parents.

"Mom, Dad, thank you for telling me this." Jiang Ming finally spoke, looking into their eyes, which were filled with deep gratitude and understanding.

The atmosphere between the three gradually relaxed, and they continued to talk about trivial matters in the living room as if nothing had changed. Jiang Zhengyun talked about his recent work, while Lin Huilin showed concern for Jiang Ming's holiday travel plans.

During the conversation, Jiang Ming learned that eighteen years ago, when he was still a baby, he mysteriously appeared at the entrance of an orphanage named Morning Light in Donghai City. He was taken in by the director and later adopted by Lin Huilin and Jiang Zhengyun.

Jiang Ming walked into his room, closed the door, and leaned against it. The room was filled with a subtle Dragon Clan theme, with posters of "Dragon Clan" adorning the walls, each one a cherished collectible. In one corner of the room was a row of neatly arranged Dragon Clan figurines, each representing a character he loved.

Jiang Ming walked to his desk, gently brushed off the dust, and sat down, quietly taking in everything around him. Over the years, Dragon Clan had not only been his hobby but also a deep emotional connection. Each character seemed to tell him a different story, one of courage, family, and heritage.

He closed his eyes, recalling the recent conversation with his parents. He knew that regardless of his biological parents, his current parents had always truly loved him. Though initially difficult to accept the fact that he was adopted, the conversation today gave him a sense of relief and release.

As for his biological parents, his feelings were a mix of curiosity and confusion. He couldn't help but wonder what kind of people they were, why they had sent him to the orphanage, and whether they thought of him somewhere. These questions often lingered in his mind, fueling his desire to explore his origins.

Despite his curiosity about his biological parents, he was more inclined to cherish everything he had now, fully appreciating the love and care his adoptive parents had given him.

Jiang Ming sat quietly in his room when a faint tapping sound suddenly broke his contemplation. He looked up, his gaze shifting towards the window.

Under the dim streetlight outside, the figure of a young girl riding a giant eagle was illuminated, resembling a goddess from legend. Jiang Ming was stunned, recognizing the girl—it was Liu Yiyi, who had saved him at the construction site earlier.

Liu Yiyi smiled at Jiang Ming, gently tapping on the window, signaling him to open it. Filled with curiosity and confusion, Jiang Ming slowly stood up, walked to the window, and opened it.

As soon as the window opened, several small white hairball-like creatures on Jiang Ming's shoulder jumped onto Liu Yiyi's hand and disappeared. Without a doubt, Liu Yiyi had found Jiang Ming using these hairball creatures.

"Jiang Ming, I told you we would meet again," Liu Yiyi's voice was clear and sweet.

Wearing a short skirt, Liu Yiyi naturally sat on the stool by the desk, crossing her legs. "Don't look at me with such puzzled eyes; I will explain everything to you..."

Jiang Ming consciously looked aside, trying to avoid eye contact with Liu Yiyi, seemingly a bit shy.

From the ensuing conversation, Jiang Ming learned that the big cat he encountered at night was a cat demon, and he himself was a half-demon, meaning he had demon blood. Only those with demon blood could see demons.

"No wonder when I was running on the street, no one seemed scared; they couldn't see the cat demon behind me."

"Of course, if demons want ordinary people to see them, they can. Having said so much, you now have a new understanding of this world. Are you willing to join our Exorcist Association?"

As the name suggests, the Exorcist Association is an organization dedicated to exorcising demons. Liu Yiyi's purpose for coming this time was to invite Jiang Ming to join the Exorcist Association. She wouldn't miss the chance of finding a half-demon.

She had been tracking the cat demon for many days, but it always managed to escape at critical moments. Liu Yiyi hated this cat demon but also felt grateful because it gave her an unexpected surprise.

"What's wrong? Are you unwilling? Join us; everyone will definitely like you! Don't you want to eliminate those harmful demons and protect people?"

"But I haven't heard much about demons harming people!"

Nowadays, the internet is highly developed, especially with the rise of short videos. Once something unusual happens, social media will be flooded with it. Stories about demons would undoubtedly be big news. The last time Jiang Ming heard about demons was in "Strange Tales from a Chinese Studio."

Before seeing the cat demon, Jiang Ming absolutely didn't believe in the existence of demons in this world.

"You don't understand. There were many incidents of demons harming people in ancient times. If it weren't for the exorcists of the past sealing most of the demons, people wouldn't live so peacefully. But the days of peace are running out. For some unknown reason, more and more demons are appearing in Donghai City recently. I'm afraid there will be more and more mysterious deaths among ordinary people."

"So, modern incidents of demons harming people are rare because most demons were sealed. With demons starting to revive for unknown reasons, what will ordinary people do? They're completely unprepared!"

"That's why the Exorcist Association needs to protect everyone. Are you willing to join the Exorcist Association to protect people?"

Jiang Ming glanced at the figurine of Lu Mingfei on the desk and nodded. Every time he read the Dragon Clan novels, he felt a surge of passion, wanting to be like the protagonist Lu Mingfei, fighting against dragons and protecting people.
