Chapter 5 - 05

Then, Grace Foster shook her little head again, indicating that Grace could take it herself.

"Okay, Miss Grace, please wait."

The bodyguard misunderstood that she meant outside the castle and didn't think much about it. He quickly prepared a bottle of milk, some easy-to-eat bread, cookies, and small cakes for her.

Grace Foster climbed up to the second floor, went to her room, chose a cute pink piglet backpack, and returned to the dining room.

She blinked her round eyes and asked in a milky voice, "Uncle Bodyguard, can I put them in here?"

"Of course, Miss Grace, please wait." The bodyguard immediately complied with her request and packed all the food and drink into the pink piglet backpack.

The bodyguard weighed the backpack and said, "Miss Grace, it's a bit heavy."

Grace Foster clenched her little fists and made a punching gesture, "My brothers say Grace is very strong!"

The bodyguard looked at her cute little hands and couldn't help but smile. "Then Miss Grace, you try it on. If it's too heavy, I'll help you change to lighter food."

Grace Foster turned around, put on the bulging backpack, and felt its weight.

She shook her little head confidently, "It's not heavy."

The bodyguard believed her because she had a very serious expression when she felt the weight of the backpack.

As Grace was preparing her food and drink, Snowy stopped her, "Ga! Grace幼崽,你不能 leave! Your family doesn't know yet!"

"I haven't forgotten," Grace Foster said.

She went to the living room, took out paper and pen from the drawer, and started drawing seriously at the table to "leave a message" for her family.

She drew a little pig, a milk bottle, bread, cookies...

The bodyguard stood guard at the door of the living room, watching from afar, and couldn't help but smile: Miss Grace is so cute, and she even drew everything in the backpack.

After watching for a while, he went to patrol other areas, not daring to neglect his duties.

Grace Foster filled a white piece of paper with drawings and suddenly remembered something. She looked at Snowy and asked, "Snowy, do you want to go with Grace to see Mama?"

"Ga! You can't go! Grace baby, you're too small, you can't go out!"

Snowy was so anxious that it almost spoke human language. It flew to the castle gate to find the bodyguard, flapping its wings and calling, "Ga! Stop Grace baby! Don't let Grace leave! Block her! Notify your boss, ah!"

The bodyguard looked at Snowy, confused by its calls.

What was this goose saying?

Oh, he understood. It was hungry.

The bodyguard went to the small villa behind the castle, where Snowy's food was usually prepared.

Snowy was angry, "Ga! Stupid humans! You don't understand anything! I'm not hungry!"

Since communicating with the bodyguard was too difficult, Snowy returned to the living room.

It glared at Grace Foster with its tiny eyes and said, "Ga! Grace baby, it's not allowed for human baby to go out alone!"

Grace Foster looked up at it joyfully, "Does Snowy mean you want to accompany Grace to see Mama?"

"..."

That wasn't what it meant.

But Grace smiled sweetly, her round eyes shining brightly, making it reluctant to disappoint her.

"Yay! Then Snowy, please wait for me a little longer!"

Grace Foster was excited and drew a goose on the paper to indicate that Snowy would be going with her.

Snowy sat dejectedly on the ground.

It was exhausting to communicate with human baby.

It made one last effort:

"Ga... Grace baby, it's impossible for you to leave like this. The bodyguards will definitely stop you from leaving the manor if they see you with a backpack. Grace baby, you should wait for your family..."

Before it could finish, it saw her round eyes widen.

Grace Foster tilted her little head curiously, "Why won't the bodyguard uncles let Grace go out?"

"Because you're a human baby! It's very dangerous for human baby to go out alone, and the adults will worry about you!" Snowy explained.

"Grace left a message!" Grace Foster pointed to the full page of drawings. "Snowy didn't have a dangerous dream about Grace."

"Exactly..." Then how did it get caught up in Grace's logic?

Grace Foster smoothed out her message and placed a small ornament on it to keep it from blowing away.

She put on her backpack and muttered to herself, "Can't let the bodyguard uncles discover us. Grace has to be quiet."

Snowy followed her closely, "Ga! Grace baby, you're still young..."

It flapped its wings and looked at the nearest bodyguard, hoping it would notice.

But the bodyguard just stood there, unmoving.

Snowy was puzzled. Did the bodyguard not hear it?

Then it remembered the silver bracelet on Grace's wrist. The bracelet was emitting a faint light, creating an invisible barrier around them.

Snowy almost fainted. The silver bracelet had come to life! It responded to Grace's thoughts and created a barrier.

It had no choice but to stay close to Grace as they quietly left the castle and the manor.

Grace Foster walked quickly and steadily, even with the heavy backpack. She stopped at a crossroads and asked Snowy, "Snowy, which way do we go next?"

Snowy sighed and replied, "To the left..."

It led the way, hoping Grace's family would soon discover she was missing.

However, just as it was relieved that no one could see them, the light from the silver bracelet started to fade until it disappeared completely. The bracelet had used up all its energy and entered a resting state.

Snowy: "Oh no! This is terrible!"

To be on the safe side, Snowy plucked five feathers from itself, thought for a moment, and then plucked five more. It handed them to Grace Foster, the young chick, and said, "Grace Foster, put these feathers on yourself and don't take them off!"

"Okay," Grace Foster replied sweetly, putting the feathers in her pocket. She patted her pocket and said, "I won't take them off."

Snowy felt somewhat reassured that with its feathers, Grace Foster would be safe. It was a pity about its own declining spiritual power, which was now almost as weak as the silver bracelet.

But Snowy didn't mind; it only cared about Grace Foster's safety. If need be, it would gladly give up all its feathers for her.

As the spiritual barrier created by the silver bracelet disappeared, a small figure and a goose appeared on the sidewalk. There were few people around since it was not a weekend or a holiday, and there was little traffic.

Snowy, though reluctant to admit it, was starting to feel tired. It might be because it had plucked so many feathers at once. It panted, "Grace Foster, maybe we should go back to Seabreeze Villa?"

Grace Foster stopped in her tracks, turned to Snowy, and asked worriedly, "Snowy can't walk anymore?"

"A little bit," Snowy replied, looking ahead. "There's still such a long way to go."

It regretted bringing up Grace Foster's mother and softening to her request. Grace Foster thought for a moment before bending down and picking up Snowy. She said, "Grace doesn't get tired. I'll carry you."

Snowy was shocked and squawked, "Honk!" Its feathers stood on end.

It used to be skinny because it was afraid of being killed and eaten by humans. But since coming to Seabreeze Villa and knowing the Foster family wouldn't harm it, Snowy had been eating more and more, growing fatter by the day. Despite weighing at least ten pounds, it was now being carried by Grace Foster.

Snowy struggled to get free but didn't want to make her fall. It protested, "Honk! Grace Foster, you don't have to carry me. I'm too heavy, and you're carrying a backpack too!"

"Not heavy," Grace Foster replied firmly as she continued walking. "Snowy tells the way, Grace walks."

Snowy couldn't argue and tried to stay still to avoid causing trouble. As they turned onto a busier street, cars began to slow down upon seeing the small girl.

"Did I see that right? A child walking alone on the street?"

"Oh my goodness, she has a piggy backpack on. Did she run away from home?"

"There's no adult with her!"

"Is she lost?"

"Should we call the police?"

The traffic on the road slowed down as drivers noticed the small girl with the piggy backpack. Before long, the road was blocked even though there had been no accident.

A black Rolls-Royce Phantom was stuck in the traffic. In the back seat, an elderly woman closed her eyes in meditation. She had the delicate features of a southern woman, with meticulous makeup that made her look younger than her age. Her brows were furrowed with perpetual worry.

Her phone vibrated, and she opened her eyes to check the message from the hospital. After replying, she looked up and asked, "Why is it taking so long? Is there a problem with the traffic lights?"

Her driver responded, "No, Madame. There is no problem with the traffic lights. It's just a traffic jam."

This was unusual. The elderly woman always passed through this road on her way to the hospital, and it was rarely congested except on weekends and holidays. She was in a hurry to get to the hospital.
