The car door clicked shut, enveloping Katherine in silence. Her pulse pounded in her ears. The way Alpha Dean's sister looked so much like her…how was it possible that they shared such a resemblance? Down to their eyes…and the pendant? How could something so familiar belong to someone she had never met?
She leaned her head back, eyes closing as she tried to calm her thoughts. The pain she felt, she'd never felt anything like it. Thankfully, it all subsided after a while. Outside, she could hear the faint murmur of voices as Kieran, Alpha Dean, and the others spoke, though Katherine couldn't catch every word.
"I'm sorry… this wasn't how the day was supposed to go," Alpha Dean said, glancing at the car where Katherine was.
"No, no. We had a good time regardless. Thank you for having us. It's a shame we couldn't stay for much longer," Kieran replied, shaking the man's hand.
