The cold air filled the boy's lungs, his head was spinning, his thoughts tangled around themselves as he couldn't comprehend them even one bit.
About 80 meters to the ground from here, he had no doubt in his head anymore. Without a will that could keep him going still, he took a step forward.
The moment felt like an eternity, his breath becoming more shallow as the distance between him and the ground became less and less.
Then he realized, he didn't want to die, he started to scream with all his might, but with no use as it was already too late.
His eyes closed for the final time.
When he finally opened his eyes, he saw an unusual sight, two people, one in black and the other in white, he could have sworn that he knew them, but their faces were too blurry to remember. They started to speak but their words were too chaotic for his mind to understand even a thing. Then his eyes again closed and the darkness returned.
His eyes opened yet again, was he alive or was this the afterlife? It felt too real to be a dream, yet felt so sureal at the same time. He tried to move and look around, but couldn't, his eyes then drifted to look what was in front of him, piles of bodies likely from suicidal ritual, all pilled around him, and he in fact was a tree. He tried to scream, but he had no mouth to. His screams just echoed in his mind, and so it eventually turned into night.
Tree crows from above looked so majestic and peaceful at this time, the timid night sky added a hint of relaxation all in the air. The world fell into slumber to rest and rise for a new day, but he couldn't rest a bit, it all was like a living nightmare, being a tree just felt too sureal. The bushes started to rustle as if something was in there, soon after group of people emerged from the shadows, they wore the same robes as the dead people around.
"Lord Azir, it's good to see that this vessel suits you well." One of them said, the man with ornaments on his robe, most likely their leader, somehow knew his name. His hands then reached into one his bag and took out a crystal orb from it. "Let me give this artifact as a sacrifice, so your vessel may grow stronger." With these words he put the ball one one of Azir's many roots. The orb started to glow with a a purple light that blinded all that look into it, Azir's body began to change, his tree form prison began to shatter.
