Chapter 13 - A Firebrand in the Building

A couple of minutes before the first reply.

From the outside, it appeared as a meticulously designed apartment complex. But when Rosalie entered the building, she felt like she was suddenly transported to another world.

When Rosalie was living with the Ameratti, it could be said that she had experienced and seen many luxurious things that the world could offer. But being inside this building made her think that there were still a lot of places she hadn't been to.

At this moment, the entrance lobby was empty aside from the middle-aged lady behind the desk, which Rosalie assumed to be the caretaker of this apartment. She wore a black suit over her white shirt, with hair carefully combed into a neat bun and pinned with a silver pin, and fairly good-looking features.

Her voice posed a question to the phone pressed against her ear, "They're still there? Just throw them out and tell them we don't allow reporters in the district. Do they think this is West Valley compound? This is Jade Imperial, even the mayor of the city can't demand an inspection here!"

Seeing her preoccupied, Rosalie didn't hurry to approach the middle-aged woman and took her time to look around.

After two minutes, the middle-aged woman finally ended her call. She exhaled through her nose, as if frustrated, and looked up. Immediately, as if her previous frustration was just an illusion, the woman's face beamed up as if she saw a Buddha standing in front of her.

She didn't question why Rosalie was there as she had already known that only people who were given access to enter the district were able to reach Jade Imperial, which was at the district's center.

But, still, a hidden inquiry was hidden behind her eyes as she wondered who Rosalie was. After all, she had been the caretaker of the apartment complex for several years and remembered all of the apartment owners. As for visitors, she would be informed beforehand so she could lead them inside.

Of course, there were a few times when some apartment owners forgot to inform her, but they would call her when their visitors arrived.

But she didn't get a call.

Thus, she began with a greeting, "Hello and welcome to Jade Imperial. You are here for...?"

Rosalie replied, "Hi, I'm Rosalie, and I'm here to move."

The caretaker seemed surprised and said, "Oh! Uh, I didn't get notified you were moving, but can I kindly ask what apartment and floor level are you on?"

Rosalie reached for the key, took it, and placed it on the desk. After she met with the agent yesterday, she received the key from him.

The caretaker looked down at the key and was stunned. Initially, she thought that the young woman in front of her would produce an ordinary apartment keycard, but the thing in front of her was an old-fashioned key.

The key was simple, rather plain, and with a hint of age. The handle of the key was embedded with a crimson gem. As for what kind of gem it was... the caretaker only heard that it was worth tens of millions.

This was the key to the legendary diamond apartment!

If she were a new worker in the building, she might mock Rosalie for insulting the luxurious apartment complex, but all she felt was respect and reverence.

The middle-aged woman's personality instantly changed from being polite to extreme admiration.

Her eyes lit up like a flashlight and she very carefully pushed the key back to Rosalie and said, "Miss, please take your key back. I will have someone take your things to your courtyard."

After saying this, she took the telephone and was about to call someone but was stopped by Rosalie.

Rosalie: "There's no need. I only brought this bag with me."

On her shoulder was a sling bag that wasn't heavy and only had a few clothes she wore to change into while staying at the motel.

Rather than finding it strange that she only had a bag with her, the caretaker thought it was understandable. Filthy-rich people didn't need to carry their things, they could just buy a new one!

"Let me carry it for you, miss," the caretaker rounded the desk and stopped at her side. She didn't dare touch Rosalie's bag and waited for her to give it to her.

But how could Rosalie do that?

After refusing the kind caretaker, Rosalie suggested for fear that the former would continue with this, "Why not take me to the apartment first?"

Since the caretaker couldn't force Rosalie to give her the bag, she personally took on the role of a tour guide.

Just then, a pretty young woman walked into the lobby. She had a bucket hat on her head and a mask when she appeared outside, but took them off once she stepped into the automatic glass door.

If Rosalie bothered to look at the direction the young woman came in, she would've recognized her as the firebrand in her previous life!

"This way, please."

At the entrance of the lobby, the young woman saw the back of the caretaker and a petite woman standing beside her entering the elevator.

But the elevator they had just taken had the young woman stop in her tracks.

The automatic door opened again and entered a man. Seeing the young woman in a daze, he asked, "What's wrong? Did you see someone you know?"

The young woman didn't answer his question, instead, she asked, "Have you ever seen the caretaker personally guiding someone?"

The man chuckled bitterly, "That witch? She didn't even flinch when she saw you, an A-list actress, why do you think she would for other people?"

"But I just saw her walk into that elevator."

"No way..." suddenly, the tone of the man changed as he whipped his head toward the direction where she pointed.

The elevator on that side was located on the left side of the lobby, opposite the elevators they usually took. Although it was located in an inconspicuous corner, everyone living in Jade Imperial knew the only person who could take that elevator...

The diamond apartment's owner.

"Did you see who is it?" the man asked to which the young woman shook her head in response. Seeing this, the man sighed, "It's okay. I only heard rumors about it, but the owner of that courtyard was rarely seen by most of the apartment owners of this building. But if you see him again, don't try to approach him without thinking. Try to greet him cordially, Elise."

The young woman who was named Elise, frowned.

Because she didn't see the caretaker take the elevator with a man, but a woman instead.

And for some reason, she felt a sense of familiarity when she saw that back.
