Chapter 21 - Chapter 21: Spoils of War

The rising sun cast a warm glow over the battle-scarred kingdom of Hyrule, its light illuminating the devastation left in the wake of the fierce conflict. Denim stood on the eastern wall, his eyes scanning the horizon where the Void Creatures had once surged. The stench of decay lingered in the air, a grim reminder of the darkness they had faced.

As the defenders of Hyrule regrouped and tended to their wounds, the Lunar Knights began the grim task of collecting the spoils of war. The battlefield was littered with the remnants of the Void Creatures, their dark forms dissipating into shadowy mist, leaving behind various treasures and materials.

Denim descended from the wall, joining his guildmates in the aftermath. Zhouxin approached, his maps and data streams tucked under one arm. "Commander Shadow Splitter, the battle reports are in," he said, his voice steady despite the exhaustion etched on his face. "We managed to hold them off, but our defenses took a heavy toll."

Denim nodded, his grip tightening around the hilt of his Shadow Sword. "We did what we had to, but this is just the beginning. We need to be ready for their next move."

Miya joined them, her expression grim but hopeful. "Our efforts weren't in vain. The Void Creatures dropped a valuable loot, void stones."

In Eternal Gods, the potency and rarity of void stones were unparalleled. Highly sought after by blacksmiths and enchanters alike, their unique properties made them invaluable in the forging and upgrading of weapons and armor, capable of bestowing extraordinary enhancements.

Denim's interest piqued. "Void stones, you say?"

Void Stones, when used in forging, they can significantly enhance the properties of weapons and armor. For instance, a weapon forged or upgraded with void stones can achieve Gold Rank status, dramatically increasing its power, durability, and special attributes.

Although the void stones couldn't be used to upgrade the Shadow Sword directly—curse swords were known for their indestructibility and incapability to be reforged—there was another way. The Shadow Sword could be upgraded by devouring five Silver Ranked weapons or one Gold Ranked weapon. However, collecting such weapons was a luxury for most players, as it took weeks of nonstop gaming to gather even a few. Void stones, however, offered a solution. By using void stones to upgrade Bronze Ranked weapons, which were abundant, to Silver Rank, Denim could indirectly upgrade the Shadow Sword to Gold Rank.

Upgrading it to Gold Rank would not only enhance its base stats but also unlock new abilities and synergies, making it a formidable weapon against future enemies.

Denim's eyes glowed with anticipation. Void stone drops from void monsters were rare and precious opportunities. Not often were void stones obtained, as they were mostly rewarded by NPCs in minuscule amounts for completing quests. The number void monsters they faced numbered thousands, so it is safe to assume that they had gotten themselves thousands of void stones as their spoils of war against the void creatures.

Zhouxin pointed to a region on the world map, an area deep within the uncharted territories of the western, northern, and southern continents of Eternal Gods. "Initiating an engagement with the Void Creatures there would be better than waiting for them to make their move on us. It will be a perilous journey, but the rewards will be worth the risk."

As the Lunar Knights began their preparations, Denim felt a renewed sense of purpose. The void stones represented hope and power, a chance to fortify their defenses and strike back with greater force. With the Shadow Sword's potential, Denim knew they stood a fighting chance against the darkness threatening their world.
