The evening wind blew softly, carrying with it a scent of bliss.
The land was beautiful to say the least, the skies were vast and glorious, the earth fruitful with enthralling flowers and a mesmerising variety of enchanting fruits. An extensive forest surrounded them, elegantly bearing leaves infused with the vibrant hue of evergreen spring. Each one was resplendent in their uniqueness, captivating and alluring like a precious masterpiece. A crystal clear lake, glittering like diamond jewels gracefully flowed at the side. A masterstroke tableau of enchanting glamour, such was the picture in sight.
"Huff! Huff!!"
Hurried footsteps, ragged breathing, a discordant tone.
The leaves rustled violently, as if a creature was about to emerge.
Panting constantly, with shaky steps, a blue humanoid creature emerged into the open. The impression of horror was strongly etched on its pale blue face as it scurried through the tapestry of trees. It appeared to be in pursuit by a greater being, perhaps, a creature of tremendous power.
"Tap! Tap!!"
Calm and subtle footsteps followed the whistling of the wind. The louder it became, the harder the creature ran.
It could smell it, the scent of death!!
"Where do you think you're going to?"
A cold deep voice boomed behind it.
"Heh?"
The dooming aura of the predator, like the pincers of a scorpion, suddenly erupted behind it. Followed by a loud explosion.....
Booom!!
The creature was flung several meters before slamming violently into a tree. In an instant, it developed cracks all over it's reptilian scales.
The predator had arrived!
A large cloud of dust and smoke enveloped the scene. As the smoke parted, the obscure figure of a young man was slowly carved out. A teenager with pitch black eyes and a sharp glint. Straight medium length black hair with an hint of red, barely touching his neck. His nose was straight and small with an incredibly sharp jawline, accentuating his charm.
Wearing a full on black shirt and jeans along with an equally black jacket looked good on him. You could say it added quite a dazzle to his looks.
However, in those two eyes, held deep coldness.
Aiden gazed down upon the creature. From its expression, one could tell it was pleading for survival. Nevertheless, Aiden rose his hand up in the air.
The creature shrieked loudly in terror. It had dawned upon it, there was no escape. It wanted to survive, to see a new day, just like any other creature.
However, it meant nothing to Aiden.
A black sword with golden hilt materialised in Aiden's hand. The creature shrieked even louder, trembling under the fear of death.
Each passing second felt like a tormenting eternity, they were it's last.....
It's final sighting was Aiden bringing down his hand before darkness enveloped it's world.
The toneless voice of the Order rang in Aiden's head as he slayed the beast.
"You have slain 'Tyrant Lizard'

A blue screen opened right before him. Something that appeared visible to him alone. The screen displayed Aiden's basic and system information.

"So they still manage to retain their human emotions, huh? This sucks!"
While otherworldly races scattered around the Forbidden zones, some were said to formerly humans. People that had undergone biological and genetic mutation.
Whether this was by choice or by force was unknown. Nevertheless, these set of beings were classified alongside other invaders, and were regarded as threats.
"Still I don't feel comfortable knowing i might have just killed a human"
Aiden sighed and closed the system. Weighed by his wearies, he plopped down to the ground.
Aiden's eyes were fixed on the distant sky. Colourful birds with vibrant energy (mana) danced around with joyful wings.
The sighting gave him a nostalgia, he couldn't help but think back to his hometown.
"I finally reached 700 huh?"
Magic potential was the deciding factor of one's placement in the reformed society. The higher one's magic potential, the higher the status of that person.
Magic Potential was simply the amount of magic one could harness. In other words, how much of a specific type of magical energy one could control.
Magical energy varied, there was Dark energy, Divine energy, Mana, Cursed energy and Death energy. However, an individual was only capable of harnessing one, which was most time, Mana.
Magic potential also determined one's classification or ranking. In total, there were eight ranks.
Awakened, Apprentice, Elite, Master, Epic, Paragon, Transcendent and Divine rank.
Having a magic potential of 500, Aiden's placement was the third rank, Elite. Of course, this was through hard work and not talent.
Afterall, everyone had the option to increase their Magic potentials.
Attack, Subdue and devour!
The system established by the Order upon its coming was simple but brutal.
To increase in ranks, you simply had to pull down other existences. It was a form of natural selection.
No place for a pacifist, you could say...
Aiden sighed faintly. A huge but oddly refreshing gust of wind was blowing in his direction. His hair fluttered under the influence of wind, his eyes lost in distant space.
"I should get going"
He had completed his mission, all that was left was giving his mission reports.
Aiden gazed down at the pale blue corpse. It was dissipating at a rapid pace.
Without hesitation, Aiden stabbed his hand through the chest, claiming a deep blue crystal.
It was a magic core, the source of magic in all beings.
Dark energy with a faint pulse of mana fluctuated around the core. Mana, signifying the possibility of it being formerly human.
"Tch!"
But just as Aiden prepared to move, an insane force weighed down on him.
It was an indescribable power!
