Chapter 5 - Five

Latifa's POV

Thankfully there was no much traffic as we sped along the expressway. I kept trying and when I still got no response I dialed Clarisse who answered on the third ring.

"What's up babe," she spoke, sounding slightly busy from the voices and noise in the background.

"Sorry, I just wanted to check if my phone was broken or if it's loosing connection," I informed.

"Who were you trying to call?" She asked and before she said it I already guessed her next words would have no meaning. "Garett Evans?"

"Like I have his number," I scoffed. "I'm in LA at the moment, my parents urgently summoned my presence so I'm on my way there."

"I hope all is well," she asked in a worried manner.

"I have no idea, which is why I'm calling." I shut the door as I alighted from the taxi in front of the 3-storied apartment building my parents reside in. "I might not come home tonight."

"How about your job, have you informed them?" She inquired.

"Already did while on the plane here," I answered while dragging the suitcase toward the entrance of the blue painted building. "My boss gave me the okay."

"Alright, see you when I see you," she uttered. "Bye, send my greetings."

"I will, bye," I ended the call and lifted the object in my hand as I climbed the stairs to the second floor where my parents live.

I had rented for them this apartment a few years back with my first paycheck and since then they happened to love the place even though I could afford a house, especially with the money I got paid by Garett Jay Evans.

Arriving at the grey metal door, I pressed the doorbell and waited for someone to open up, my heart beat increasing with every second that ticked past.

After half a minute, I couldn't wait anymore and fished out the bunch of keys in my purse. Thank God I hadn't left it back at my apartment before I departed for my early morning flight job.

The metals jingled as I sorted through them. Finally spotting the right one, I keyed it into the lock and twisted. I heard a click noise and quickly retreated the key to push the door inward.

Breath coming out in short pants with heart beating abnormally, I entered into the living room. The atmosphere I had in mind totally different from the atmosphere I was met with.

"Oh darling was that you?" My mom turned in my path, her attention shifting from placing the cutlery beside white china plates on the dining table. "I was just about to come check."

My eyes narrowed at her appearance in a free-flowing brown dress, the same shade of her hair which was styled in a French braid. Her skin looked normal and her face appeared free of worry as her light blue eyes met mine.

I didn't utter a syllable as I observed the space before me. Mom was setting the table, Dad was seated across from me in brown slacks and a white shirt, curly black hair which were going grey framed his face and brown eyes that seemed to be amused about something.

"Welcome home honey," he called at me and pointed at something, or should I say someone. Whoever it was sat on one of the 3 single cushions that circled the long couch Dad was fixed in. "Greet our guest."

"Guest?" I implored, taking note of the man. Despite the fact that all I could see was his back, I felt a sense of familiarity.

"Guest?" Mom repeated after me and smiled. "Garett is not our guest, he'll be family soon."

'That name' I murmured in my head, a sense of dread settling in my bones. The sense familiarity grew with each step I took to circle the chairs so I could spot who it was.

"Hey babe," the reason for my fear became clear. I was face to face with a grinning Garett Jay Evans who rose to his feet to greet me. He stood tall in a black button up and fitting jeans. His blonde curls falling over those enchanting grey eyes.

"What is he doing here?" I raised a question, my glance shifting between each parent.

"You two know each other?" Mom answered with a question of hers.

"That's good then," Dad clapped, a big smile on his face as Garett covered the distance on the black carpet to where I was standing. "I think we can go ahead with the marriage plans don't you think?"

"I think it's a good idea," Mom beamed almost jumping out of her skin in joy. "This calls for some wine then."

"You guys are getting it wrong, we don't know each other in a good way, we do in a ba__"

"Latifa must be tired after the multiple flights she must have taken today," Garett forcefully pulled me to his side, shutting me up. His fingers not so innocently rubbed the exposed skin of my abdomen and the waistband of my sweatpants as he said in a smile. "I'll walk her to her room."

"What do you mean walk, who ar__"

"That's caring of you," Dad said to my horror. "You both must miss each other and have things to talk about, you can catch up. I'll call you when the food is served."

"Thank you Mr Rodriguez," he nodded at my father, that humble facade showing up again and made me hold in the urge to laugh at him.

"Come darling,"

I allowed him to hold me and snatch the suitcase from my hand. We walked past the dining table to the small hallway and I pushed the first door on my left.

"Now tell me what the hell is going on," I demanded the instant we were in my room and I had banged the door.

"I'll explain later," he informed, gaze scanning the blue painted room. Pictures and toys my parents insisted on keeping in every corner of the room. Thank God Mom had the decency to clean it up before I came.

"I need an explanation now," I growled and tossed my purse on the bed. Fingers sliding into my hair as I began pacing. "What's this nonsense about being family and what, marriage?"

"The explanation is." He unhurriedly strolled to where I was pacing and gripped my shoulders, halting my movements.

He made sure I was still, his deep pools of green meeting my blue irises as he lowered and whispered in my ear. "After I tasted that pussy, it was all I could think about, and now, I want it all to myself."

Every hair on my skin stood at his words, goosebumps developing as heat ran through my body and gathered at the core of my feminity.

"Plus my parents want me to get married to you," he smiled. "Imagine my surprise when I was told the woman I'm meant to marry was the one I fucked on a plane, hmm?"

I gulped as his breath fanned my cheeks, a glint in his eyes which made me scared and hot at the same time.

"Don't fear, I wasn't offended," he smirked, his nose grazing my forehead and I unconsciously closed my eyes. "I planned to keep your dripping pussy to myself anyway."

*******

"I was wondering who was at the door, turns out it's you." Clarisse rubbed her hair with a towel, a robe around her body as she opened the door for me to enter. "Why home today? You said you'd stay out."

"You won't believe what just happened," I said and slumped on the chair. Letting go of my suitcase, I raised my left palm as she settled on the table opposite me. "I'm getting married."

She paused. Gradually her eyes grew wide as she dropped the towel on the floor. Her vision locked on the glistening stone on my finger. Her wide eyes shifted from my finger to my face, a silent question in her gaze.

"It's definitely not a joke," I affirmed, slowly bobbing my head as she rose from the table and grabbed my left hand to examine the ring.
