Reeva looks at Plutus with a neutral expression. His cover hasn't completely been blown yet.
"I'm getting the prisoner out as Father Theodore ordered."
"Bullshit, Father Theodore didn't order that"
"Father..."
Reeva tried to denied even further. But Plutus isn't buying it.
"O light...."
Plutus starts chanting the word while the knight makes his move. Reeva grits his teeth and uses the last thing that he has with him.
"Stop!"
From within the robe, Reeva pulls something out. A piece of metal that Plutus had seen recently. But this time it was not burnt to a crisp.
"A GUN!"
Plutus screams, and both he and the knight halt his movement. Plutus stopped because he vaguely knew the gun could deal lethal damage, and the knight stopped because Plutus stopped. That must mean something dangerous. The church is very afraid of this, so Reeva could sigh with relief when he succeeded in intimidation.
This is his last card. Since he obtains the guns from the old man, he always has two with him. As the saying goes switching to secondary is faster than reloading. Especially since it was a flintlock pistol, you need to have a whole kit to reload them. The battle did not last all that long.
But all of this was just a bluff, first, he didn't have the heart to shoot people with this, and second, he only had one shot. If he shot one of them the other would realise that it had only one shot and charge at him. That would be a checkmate for him since he couldn't fight.
"You! The church will burn you alive! Hand that thing over and we could grant you a painless death"
"I'm not stupid, priest!" Reeva said "You'll burn me alive either way, I'd rather shoot myself before that"
He needs to buy time and figure a way out of this. There's one knight and a priest, he just needs to bypass them and the other knight at the front of the prison. It's a narrow hallway so he has to pass by them first.
No one moves a muscle, afraid that someone might do anything unpredictable here. Reeva started leaning on the door to open it little by little, at least he needed to know what was inside before he got out of the prison.
Plutus keenly notices his movement. He gets suspicious. If someone were to wield an incredibly powerful weapon and needed to find something in the church. What would you do when you were discovered by two people and had no escape? Logically, He would use a powerful weapon to dispose of the people that discovered him.
Why didn't he do anything?
He could think of three reasons, The first one is that The fake priest doesn't know how to use the divine item. Not everyone knows how to use such a thing. His second guess is that there is a limitation to such a thing, making it hard to use and his last guess is that the artifact is a fake.
Judging from the way he's holding it, Plutus could say that's not the last reason. And from how confident he is at using it, it is at least a real artifact. This means that there has to be a limitation to such a thing. Plutus places his bet.
"Knight attack him!"
"...."
Reeva doesn't say anything but his slight reaction gives Plutus the confirmation. The artifact must have some limitations!
"O light please trasfrom and attacker that sinner."
The sword light came at Reeva. He had no choice but to dodge it. It flew right past Reeva, hitting the stone door behind him. The knight launched himself and closed the distance. His sword held high to strike Reeva down.
Reeva grits his teeth. He has no good option here, he needs to get out of this place. The gun aims high right at the knight. He aims for the shoulder and pulls the trigger.
Bang!
The bullet hit the shoulder of the knight. The impact halts his moment and throws him into the ground.
"AHHHHHHHHHH"
In the past, The knight has been cut and stabbed multiple times but he couldn't have prepared for this. The bullet penetrates through his iron armor like butter and digs itself into his shoulder. His body couldn't move from the pain.
Plutus is shocked at the sight of the knight but he also sees the fake priest's expression. It's the one that fills with regret. Plutus sneer at such a gesture, if you regret it why did you do it in the first place?
Hypocrites
He hates these guys.
"O' light please punish my enemy"
Another sword light flew at Reeva but this time, it was a hit. It is priced through Reeva's belly. Stopping his moment entirely. Before Reeva could think about how to get out of this situation, he was pinned by another light sword.
One after another, after the first one it avoids his fatal point. Pinning him to a wall without killing him.
After he was done with Reeva, Plutus quickly came over to the knight to heal him. The light came out of his hand to try to seal the wound from the bullet.
Reeva watches the whole thing with hopeless eyes. He expected it would end like this, being captured by the church. And being a prisoner. But at least he had fun, right?
Author? Is this what you want?
He smiles, for the event that ends up happening. He lost too much blood and his body is pinned to the wall. He was weak, and that's Ok. He tried his best to make a difference but in the end, it was just wishful thinking.
0.2%
He lived up to the statistic. If he hadn't come here, he would have been in a hotel sleeping with Theia and Hilda by his side on the sofa. But he thinks differently if he were to follow his normal behavior wouldn't that be following a 0.2% chance of becoming a god? To see the story end? But in the end, it was all futile.
For the last time, he looks at Plutus, who finishing a first aid heal. A smile broke from Plutus's face.
A yellow mist seeped out of him.
