In the absence of John, Hilda decides to hire another worker for them, his name is Wade, a construction worker who just got fired from his company. Making it 3 employees around the clock with John, Theia, and Hilda taking the morning shift and his hired employee working in the evening.
Leaving the stall in Stanger's hand is risky but John doesn't think much about it. His noble status would have scared them from stealing something With his capital, the enforcer would work hard to bring his item back.
In his hotel room, John could finally decide where he would open his restaurant. He would open in on the Great Road, it's the one that leads from the harbor to the Great Gate. Which is the main road that they use to travel to Lmemore.
A highly contested area that he couldn't consider before, but after they sold these like how cake, John couldn't help but shoot for more. He couldn't imagine that he would be selling burgers in Tumidus.
Originally, he hoped to find the ice mystic that Klad encountered during his time in Tumidus and establish a business exporting Tumidus delicacies in fresh condition. That would sell well in the capital and be popular with nobles. However, his scheme has gone awry now that his business has taken off.
His plan with the burger shop would generate funds for him to hire a private investigator that he would have used to find the ice Mystic.
However he has a different plan now, he needs to find who sent a mystic after him. He is certain that he didn't offend anyone of importance, at least not one if a mystic. He needs a vague idea of who he's dealing with.
That's why he's here right now. At a private investigator's office, they mostly do odd jobs like finding cats or trailing people who cheat on each other. This one is recommended by a lady who likes to buy their burger in the morning.
The office is located on White Road, it's a road leading north into the mountain range that is covered in snow. The same one that he just blackmailed the blacksmith on. However, he didn't plan to blackmail someone this time.
John looks at the front door and smiles, the text advertises him as the best detective in the city. Holen Lucard. Finally, he was able to read a bit after learning from the maid and reading children's books.
The bell rings when John opens a door, the interior is made with ornate wood and decorated with fancy stuff. This made the owner look professional. This place also feels like it was in Lmemore than Tumidus.
"Hello there, how could This best detective help you?"
A guy with a thick mustache greeted him, he wore a formal suit and a top hat. A true Eyrish gentleman. He greets John with a big smile on his face and shows them a sofa to sit on. John and Theia sit on the Sofa while Hilda stands behind them.
"I would like you to look into slave purchasing"
"Oh, are you looking for a specific one?" Some don't have the time or manpower to scout out good slaves so, They ask Holen to do it for them.
"No, I want to know who purchased most slaves and also a missing person cases that happened recently"
John needs to find out who is supporting Tula. If the mystic is by themself it's almost impossible to differentiate between them and normal people but it's a different story if they had an artifact. Oftentimes, it needs to be maintained at top condition to be useable and John guessed that it has something to do with blood.
"Is there a deadline?"
"Get me everything you can in a week"
"Don't worry I won't miss a single thing! You could trust me don't this but.... information like that is hard to come by, I have to pull some favors."
"How much?"
"Seeing that you're a first-time customer, I will generously give you 20 percent off, 10 stac flat. I only give this deal out to my most loyal customer!" Holen placed his hand on his chest and said that with a confident face.
"How much was the original?" John ask curiously
"Uhm.....12 Stac?"
"Then it should cost around 9 Stac and 38 coins for a 20 percent discount?"
"Sorry, I miss calculated! Math is not my strong suit but worry not, My investigating skill is much better. As an apology, I will lower the price to 9 Stac flat!"
John looks at the guy skeptically, he starts to think that it is a wrong decision to come to this guy. But, there's not really a private investigator in this city other than him and from word of mouth, Holen is pretty good.
At least he's got a good rep
John will have to see the result.
"Here, I'll pick it up after the week"
John pay the 9 stac
" Thank you for trusting me with your troubles! I'll not disappoint you."
Holen quickly grabs the gold coins and stuffs them into his purse. John then took leave, he still had something to do. It's the end of the month, If Oslen didn't flake out on the deal he would be sending the news about Klad right now.
John travels to the center district where most traffic comes and goes. There was a post office located there. They began to use the system where they deliver mail across the city through trade caravan or their cart. Call a mail coach. Often seen in a black and red design that is easy to spot.
A while ago, John wrote some mail to Oslan about how he has to send the information through mail to Tumidus. John also rents a private box to hold the mail since he is staying in a hotel at the moment.
But that will change soon.
John arrives at the post office, the building is easy to spot since they always painted the whole building red. He enters with Hilda and shows his ID. They ran it through the books and directed him to the letter that just arrived 3 hours ago.
