Reeva was running out of time. The mother played a very delicate game of cat and mouse with him. No doubt, she was stalling for herself to gather into one place. His eyes squeezed tight as Reeva activated the artifact and felt the vibration in the ground.
He could see mother's movement and the mother could feel his movement too. After he correctly predicted where the vines were gonna pop out, the mother caught onto the fact that he was using the artifact.
This means that he could only watch as the mother sat underground and gathered all of her fragments, which was the worst case imaginable. Reeva needed to get everyone out of here. But just once glace told him that the people, knights civilians, and the remaining priest were not in any condition to move right now.
