Chapter 1 - Last read

"What the hell?"

Was the first thing that escaped his mouth after reading the latest chapter of [Legend Of Divine Twig] a web novel that he's been following for years. With chapters stacking up to 3000s, it's easily one of the biggest commitments in his life.

But it ended too abruptly. The plot that has been boiling up changed its pace and rushed along to the finish line. The earlier chapter detailed how the main character would execute his plan and acted it out throughout fifty to a hundred chapters but the last chapter that he read felt like a summarization of the event.

Furthermore, the author said that this was the chapter before the end.

"He must have reached a dead end..."

John mused, he opened up the the novel webpage in frustration. His mouse navigated page after page and arrived at the writer's contact information. Copying it and pasting it on his email. His finger tapped on the keyboard to produce a meaningful message.

Dear author

FUCK YOU, you ruined your novel. why the hell did you write all this shit just to end it in two chapters. you could do better than this. even I could do better

fuck you and your shitty ass copy-paste novel, wasting my time.

A heartfelt letter to the writer of LODT.

When his rage subsided the email was already sent. He closed his eyes and felt a boulder lift off his chest, It's what he wanted to say after reading that chapter. Whether it reached the author or not, he did not care.

With all that frustration gone, he decided that he was done for the day. His hand reached for a chocolate bar at the end of the table and opened it. His eyes looked at the time in the lower left corner of his computer.

12:15

He should have slept. His eyelids started to lose strength. He got up from his chair and flipped the switch. It made a small noise before the room went dark, with only the computer glistening with whatever color was on the desktop.

With a sigh, he turned to look behind him and realized he couldn't close the book. He had been reading The Divine Twig for years, despite his frustration and the looming workday ahead. He sat back down in front of the computer and opened the web novel. Despite its abrupt ending, it is still his favorite. It was undeniably an enjoyable story.

"I'll just take a leave tomorrow... well it's today but, whatever."

John could not help himself. As Klad's lengthy journey concluded, he couldn't help but reflect on all of the adventures the character went through. He acquired friends and battled enemies. It spaned years.

Starting from chapter one, John could feel that the author had come a long way. 4 years ago this trope felt fresh and new but now, it just reads like another cliche story. Nonetheless, he didn't care. He had fun reading the story again.

He felt nostalgic, like seeing an old friend for the last time before saying goodbye. Night turned into day as the sun shone through the windows. He had been reading for more than eight hours and didn't plan to stop.

"Hello boss, I won't be able to work today. My stomach is acting up"

John had obviously lied since he got along well with his boss and didn't want to be discovered taking time off to read a book. He could have just left out the reason, but that would have also felt awkward when they asked him about it the next day.

As he prepared to read more, his stomach made a noise to alert him of his human need. He planned to read the entire novel that day, so he only ate instant noodles for breakfast.

He dumped a block of noodles in a pot of boiling water, added the spice, and then waited for the liquid to finish boiling.

While the noodle was cooking he took some time to read the novel. Whenever he read he always seems to be in a trance. The time flew by so fast without him noticing and the noodle was long done.

It was already too late when he noticed. He transfered the whole thing into a bowl that barely fit and used a fork to shovel the noodles into his mouth. the taste is fairly OK. Acceptable for a meal that could be made in 5 minutes.

Even though it took him a full hour.

then he continues to read

By the time he noticed himself, the day had long passed. Only the gloom of night remained. He went to turn on the light to brighten the room again. But when he returned to his seat, something unexpected happened—he stopped reading chapter 841.

An email

It wasn't just a random adult website ad or an Arab prince wanting to transfer money for a million-dollar operation. No, it was a reply to his outrage from the author.

[The absolute123]

one word

[Bet]

His eyebrows curled up and his hand scratched his head. He couldn't grasp the meaning of this message. Maybe the guy sent it wrong?

John didn't think much of it when he received another update. He opened the notice and clicked on the final chapter of the web novel he had been looking forward to.

[New begining]

In the last chapter, it left on a cliffhanger. Klad the main character has battles with several demi-gods and finally ascends to godhood.

The novel chapter opened with a blank. followed by a row of white pages.

"What the f..."

Is this to spite him? He didn't know that this guy was so petty that he would do this. His frustration boiled up once more.

"Can't you just finish it!?"

He yelled at the monitor hoping for a response. But nothing more than silence answered him. his mood quickly plummeted. He threw himself on the bed in frustration. He couldn't believe that he had taken a leave for this garbage.

Fuck you, author,
