Chapter 4
I finished changing, still a little winded from the make out session that I just endured, happily. I followed him downstairs, now chugging the coffee he brought me since it had finally cooled down a little. I walked into the foyer between the kitchen and the living room, and I could see the girls had also been awarded coffee. I gave a puzzled look, and Deacon had noticed, "oh, I had actually stopped in this morning before I went and picked up the coffees. I figured since I'm going to be spending a lot more time with you, I would also be spending it with them as well," he said as the girls raised their cups at me.
"Elise, he actually made all of these, so they were free. I don't think I've had a better coffee from that shop, ever," Jessie was the one to speak up. The girls approved with the nodding of their heads and grunts of satisfaction as they took another swig of their coffees. We sat down with them at the counter and enjoyed the rest of our coffees. The girls seemed to really like Deacon, which was good, and he seemed to really enjoy their company as well.
About two and half hours had passed when Deacon finally stood up and grabbed my hand, "are you ready to go, we just have to walk over to my bike." The girls all looked at each other in astonishment, because they had never seen me on a motorcycle before. I threw my cup in the trash and slid my hand back into Deacon's, and we walked over to his house. His bike was waiting outside of his garage and looked shinier than it did when he pulled up the previous day, "I went and cleaned her up for our date this morning after I stopped in for everyone's order."
He helped me onto the bike, then climbed on himself; he then pulled off a second helmet from the handlebars that I hadn't noticed when I walked up. "Since you told me your favorite color and I really wanted to take you for a ride, I also went and picked up a second helmet for you," he chirped as he pulled the helmet onto my head. He pulled on his own helmet and woke the beast we were straddling. Feeling the vibrations kickstarted the adrenaline in my body, and it wasn't too long before excitement joined as well.
He started walking the bike backwards out of the driveway, then kicked it into gear and drove off into town. The wind that hit me sent a rush to my brain and caused me to belt out a cheerful yell. I could feel Deacon laughing beneath my arms, then I realized underneath the sound of the wind rushing past us, I could hear Deacon laughing all around me. He had gotten a helmet with a mic and speaker in it, so that we could talk to each other while we were riding. I began profusely apologizing for how loud I had been knowing that I had basically yelled in his ear.
Again, I could feel and hear him laughing. We drove a little way before coming up on a hill overlooking a park. Atop the hill sat a blanket with the cliche basket sitting next to it; it would have been a total cliche had there been a little yellow umbrella poking out of the ground next to it. Deacon got off of the bike before me, so that he could help me off, then he reached into the saddle bag next to me and pulled out his own little yellow umbrella. I guffawed at the irony of the situation, which caused him to again laugh at me.
"So, we're going to have a picnic for lunch," I asked childishly. He nodded as he closed the lid of the saddle bag and reached for my hand with his free one. We walked up the hill and took our place on the blanket he had set out, and he began pulling fruit out of the basket and two cute little handmade sandwiches. We toasted our sandwiches against each other and started eating them. He then unearthed a bottle of wine from deep within the basket along with two wine glasses.
He filled both glasses about halfway and handed me one, "one perfect glass of wine for a perfect lady," he articulated, and we then toasted our glasses against each other as I tucked a piece of hair behind my ear. As I initiated drinking from the glass, he pulled out a small container of hand dipped strawberries. My eyes widened in amazement, and I reached out to pick one up. He stopped my hand and flew the strawberry in his other hand into my mouth; the whole situation was almost orgasmic. The taste of the strawberry. The intimacy of him feeding me the strawberry. And the whole picnic itself.
I had never had someone take me on a very romantic and intimate date before, mostly because I didn't go on dates with anyone ever. Just as I was thinking back to the last date I had ever had with anyone, I felt an extra pair of eyes on me - and they definitely weren't Deacon's. I looked around us, then caught a glimpse of a familiar pair of jet-black eyes and shaggy brown hair. "Elise! It's been so long," a familiar voice called out to me.
"Oh, hi Noah," I wryly replied. Noah was the only other person I had been with since being alive, really. The stress of trying to keep our relationship afloat and trying to stay a stellar student was the downfall of us dating, so I vowed to just never date again until I had settled down in a job I was happy with. As town rumor would have it, he never actually had gotten over us, but recently the new gossip of the town was that I was getting very close with someone new. The new person being Deacon, which Noah clearly didn't like.
Noah crossed in front of Deacon and sat down beside us in the corner of the blanket that was not being occupied. "Hey, so I heard you had driven into town again, and I was hoping I would get to run into you again," he sounded desperate. He then pulled out his phone from his pocket, "I was also wondering if I could get your number or possibly get you to come by one day while you're in town," he looked away shyly, then continued, "or both."
"Noah, what would ever get me to hang out with you again, I've been over you since high school; you are certainly not a can of worms I plan to revisit," I said proudly. I scooted over towards Deacon, closing the gap between us and leaned towards him for a kiss. I could feel the jealousy emanating from Noah as I commented, "clearly I'm busy talking to someone, so maybe you should go." Noah let out an annoyed sigh and got up. He turned to walk away but stopped.
"I will have you again, Elise, I will show you that I'm better than this dude," he recounted as he walked off towards the park where I had originally seen him. I looked at Deacon embarrassed by that whole ordeal. He reassured me by squeezing my hand and looking for a strawberry to again shove in my mouth.
"He won't be something you have to worry about, so long as I have a say in this," he whispered to me with a deep voice. We spent an hour at the park before heading back to the house. He pulled the motorcycle into his garage, where a small duffel bag sat on the ground next to his SUV. "Oh, I wasn't kidding about staying with you this summer, and of course, we don't only have to stay at your place; we can certainly come back to my place if you ever feel like being away from prying eyes and ears," he said with a smirk.
The rest of the day, we spent getting him comfortable in my room, then went down to play board games with the girls. Deacon sat next to me the entire time, occasionally placing his hand on the small of my back. In the back of my head all I could focus on was all of the kinds of trouble Deacon and I could get into. My mind stopped on some pretty racy things, and it was almost like he could read my mind, because his hand shifted to my hip and he squeezed. I met his eyes with mine and saw the devious smirk on his face.
