Yanghua yawned as she shifted in her uncomfortable creaky wooden bed. Ugh, I should've never complained about the beds we had back in the dorm, Yanghua thought regretfully as she tried to find a comfortable spot in her clay pillow to lay down her head (news flash, she couldn't). She saw the little snake she picked up earlier curled in a little wooden bowl Tangtang dug up from a closet in the cottage. Y
anghua stealthily pulled out the flashlight she hid and clicked it on. She swore as the flashlight lit up the room in a bright glow, and she quickly turned it off. Resolved to take another look, she rummaged around her drawers in the room and procured a nub of a candle. Again, she thought furiously about perhaps running over her good-for-nothing father with a car, but she composed herself. Lighting and bringing the candle closer to the still sleeping snake, she inspected its body. It was bandaged up by the guard outside her door, but in the low candlelight Yanghua could see a glimmer of gold reflecting off its brown scales. She tentatively reached out to gently pet the snake's head, but before she could even touch it, it opened it's two beady black eyes.
Instinctively, Yanghua jerked back her hand as the snake looked at her with narrowed eyes. She could see its jaw open slightly as if giving her a warning on touching its body. "If it wasn't for me, you would've still been injured on the floor of my backyard, so be grateful you little reptile," Yanghua huffed as she placed the candle on the floor beside her bed. Yanghua was still not sure if she hallucinated that the snake was originally a person, as she could not recall in the novel if there were ever any supernatural beings in the story. Yanghua could not be bothered to remember as she climbed back into her bed, as a wave of drowsiness overcame her. She turned her back to the snake in the bowl, and before she drifted off to sleep, she thought that she should invent comfortable beds in this time period.
Yanghua heard someone gently calling out her name, and she groaned. She was jolted into reality when she heard a firm "Young miss!" coming from her right side. Yanghua sighed as she opened her eyes, Tangtang was staring at closely Yanghua with wide eyes. Yanghua rubbed her eyes as she sat up and addressed her servant. "Yes, Tangtang I'm awake, thanks for waking me up." Yanghua said drowsily. Tangtang carried a familiar china bowl as she said, "Young miss, I thought it was a dream when you woke up yesterday, as you used to get up on your own every morning once the sun rose. Here, drink this medicine first as you need to quickly regain your strength before you set off to the capital." Tangtang said as she pushed the same bitter medicine towards Yanghua's hands. Yanghua groaned inwardly as she was faced by the same disgusting medicine as the previous day. She threw back her head and grimaced. Tangtang smiled at her, and quickly got to work on preparing Yanghua for the day.
As Tangtang worked on Yanghua's hair, Yanghua opened the system's shop again and was surprised to see a three-digit number in her balance of NALA coins. She inwardly cheered as she now had about 150 coins from the previous mission.
Yanghua sat in a daze after Tangtang dressed her. The initial novelty of transmitting has quickly worn off after meeting her father, General Zhang, and discovering the injured snake yesterday. What am I going to do, maybe I'm in a coma back in my world? I would be lucky if time passes differently here compared to my original world. Realistically I would be dead… Yanghua thought glumly as she sulked over her current situation. She saw the little snake stir in the bowl and she was momentarily distracted. If that stubborn little snake could survive with such grave injuries, perhaps I should try my best to survive in this hell of a situation as well, Yanghua thought reinvigorated. Yanghua called for Tangtang to bring her a piece of paper, ink, and brush. After shooing away her bewildered servant, Yanghua made sure the coast was clear before she started writing.
