Let's suppose for a moment that you had the esteemed privilege of sitting face to face with the creator of the world. His presence is radiant like the sun and his smile is as comforting as your favorite sofa. Instantly, you feel as if all your worries have simply faded into nothing.
Today must be a darn good day, because he offers you an answer to any question you have. Call it a little goodbye gift before you move on into the afterlife.
You take a sip of some delicious tea –that just happened to be there– and ponder on what you should ask him.
Who ate the food you left in the refrigerator maybe? Nah, can't waste a chance like this on that. Plus, you already have a good idea who did it anyways. Then maybe how you died? Hmm… That's a good one, but again, this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Let's pin that one for now –just in case.
"Oh, I know." You blurt out in excitement. "If you had to say, what was the biggest mistake in all of creation?"
A heavy silence follows as he stares off into the distance. Even with an all-knowing mind, such a question isn't an easy one. Then you watch as the light in his eye slowly begins to fade. He turns to you and answers, "God. Without a doubt, God."
This story follows the idea that no matter what the topic, humanity is and will forever be divided into two sides. To be specific, this story takes place in a world where the idea of God is split into two sides.
On one side you have the people who think of him as a bystander. They devote their entire lives to him, doing anything they think will get his attention. They won't just be satisfied with a few "miracles" here and there, nor will they accept the natural world as a sign of his blessing. They want to actually see God.
The other side views him as being above what can be classified as simply "divine". They are contempt with things as is and see no need for God to show himself. To them, everything within this world is an extension of his grace. The blowing leaves, the warm fire, the sweet sensation of a mother's embrace and even that magical feeling you get when you accomplish something grand.
Fortunately, these two sides won't have to battle for a gazillion years to prove which is right, or anything like that… C'mon man, this isn't that kind of story. Hooray? …No? No hooray…?
Well, if you're gonna be like that, there was a time the two sides battled it out, slaughtered each other's families and all the awesome stuff like that. But that story's a bit complicated so I'll save that for another time. Yep. Another time.
For now, all I can say is that this story takes place after the creator of the world split himself into two separate Gods.
Actually scratch that, this story takes place after, after that.
Okay let me be clear. This is a story of how the first God, after his death was reincarnated as a human boy in the second world. A world in which people with power were hailed as Saints.
