Chapter 25 - CHAPTER 25 : Eldrin's Past

In the enchanted forest of Eldoria, a happy couple of druids, Eleria and Tahion, lived with their only child, a son named Eldrin. Eldrin was a cheerful and affectionate young druid. Naturally friendly, he often brought smiles to the faces of everyone he met. His eyes seemed to give hope, and his smile brought light to every corner of Eldoria's forest. However, his world began to crumble with a tragedy that would change him forever.

Eleria and Tahion were brave warriors of Eldoria. They were part of an elite force led by Thistlebranch, the bravest and wisest warrior of their kind. Their mission was to protect their kingdom from threats to nature and evil beings attempting to destroy the beauty of Eldoria.

One day, a special gathering took place in the great hall of the kingdom. Queen Elara, their wise and kind-hearted queen, summoned the brave warriors to announce an important mission. The hall was filled with warrior druids, each silently listening as their queen spoke.

"Brave, loyal, and valiant defenders of Eldoria," began Queen Elara, her voice full of determination. "We have received news that Demonlord Kayall plans to conquer our kingdom."

Queen Elara paused briefly, and the warriors exchanged anxious glances.

"But, Your Majesty," Thistlebranch asked, his voice full of doubt. "How can we stop a being with the power to control the dead?"

"I know the danger," Queen Elara replied, "but we have no choice. We must face him. For the future of all druids and our only home. Thistlebranch, you will lead this mission. You must choose your best warriors to accompany you."

Hearing this, Thistlebranch stood up and looked at his comrades.

"Friends, this is the greatest mission we will face. We need courage and dedication to succeed."

Eleria and Tahion agreed.

"For Eldoria," said Eleria, holding her husband's hand.

"We will do everything for our loved ones and our home."

After the meeting, Thistlebranch carefully selected the most skilled fighters. Eleria and Tahion were among those chosen.

In their small cottage, the family of Eldrin happily had dinner together.

"Son, be good while we're away," Eleria reminded Eldrin.

"Where are you going?" he asked, puzzled.

"Out for a stroll, but you can't come," Tahion joked with a smile.

Eldrin felt sad hearing this from his father.

Tahion flicked Eldrin's forehead when he saw his son's reaction.

"Don't pout. What do you want as a souvenir?" Tahion asked.

Eldrin's eyes lit up. "Anything!" he replied joyfully.

The next day, before Thistlebranch's group left to confront Demonlord Kayall, Queen Elara approached Thistlebranch.

"Be careful," she said.

She looked at the brave warriors, her eyes full of hope and belief.

"The future of Eldoria is in your hands."

The warriors nodded, raised their right hands, and shouted in unison,

"For Eldoria!"

As they journeyed to Kayall's dark fortress, they faced various trials and dangers. Each step closer to the heart of darkness tested their resolve. The druids encountered traps that played on their fears, illusions that twisted the very fabric of their reality, and swarms of undead creatures lurking in every shadow. It was as if the forest itself had turned against them, corrupted by Kayall's evil magic.

When they finally reached the dark kingdom, the very air seemed to shiver with malevolence. The sky was perpetually overcast, and the ground beneath their feet was littered with forgotten graves, the earth itself tainted by centuries of dark rituals. The fortress loomed in the distance, a monolithic structure that seemed to draw all light into its black stone walls.

Before they could enter the Demonlord's palace, Kayall noticed the intruders. He quickly emerged from his palace and summoned thousands of undead and skeletons with his incantation. These undead and skeletons wielded arms and magic, unlike the ones the group had previously encountered.

"Fools! Since you dare, I will play with you! MWAHAHA!" Kayall taunted, laughing maniacally.

Thistlebranch's group was shocked. They didn't expect Kayall to detect their arrival so quickly. Thistlebranch ordered his comrades to prepare for battle.

"Do not be consumed by fear. Use the power of nature. The future of Eldoria is in our hands. Charge!"

The brave druids attacked. They unleashed their power, calling upon nature to fight with them. Trees groaned as their roots burst from the ground, sweeping through the undead ranks. Vines ensnared skeletons, crushing them into dust, while torrents of water and wind battered the specters, dispelling their ghostly forms.

But the undead and skeletons were relentless. Those not struck down attacked the druids. The undead hurled various elemental magic, while the skeletons rained arrows and fought with old swords. A fierce exchange of attacks ensued between the group and the undead and skeletons. Meanwhile, the Demonlord watched joyfully from a distance.

Desperate to end the battle, Tahion set his sights on Kayall himself.

"If we can cut off the head, the body will fall,"

He thought, as he tapped into his deepest reserves of power. With a roar, he activated Stampede Fury, a technique that allowed him to move with the speed and force of a wild beast. He became a blur of motion, charging directly at the Demonlord.

But Kayall was ready. He had seen the desperation in Tahion's eyes and waited for this moment. With a flick of his wrist, Kayall unleashed Soul Ensnare. Dark tendrils of shadow burst from the ground, wrapping around Tahion in an instant. The more Tahion struggled, the tighter they became, drawing out his very essence to fuel Kayall's power.

Tahion didn't see it coming. The shadows quickly consumed him, slowly drawing his soul from his body. His body became an undead that Kayall could control.

Seeing this, Eleria screamed,

"No!"

Her voice trembled as she rushed forward, tears streaming down her face. But before she could reach Kayall, she was met by the undead Tahion, who stabbed her in the chest with his own sword.

Eleria froze, feeling the sword in her chest. She hugged her undead husband tightly. They both fell to the ground. She managed to whisper before losing consciousness completely.

"For.. El..do..ria.."

Kayall laughed heartily at the sight, his laughter echoing malevolently.

"Mwahaha! You're delightful to watch..."

Before he could finish his sentence, his head was suddenly cut off from his body, flying through the air and slowly rolling to the ground.

"No..." Kayall managed to say before Thistlebranch crushed his head.

Thistlebranch also sliced Kayall's body into small pieces, and the undead and skeletons collapsed. The brave druid warriors cheered, but Thistlebranch silently tended to the bodies of Eleria and Tahion.

Tears slowly fell as he remembered their happy times together. Other druids also tended to their fallen comrades' bodies. Thanks to their sacrifice, they successfully defeated the Demonlord and thwarted his evil plan for Eldoria.

When Thistlebranch's group returned to Eldoria, they brought the bodies of their fallen comrades. The entire kingdom mourned as families grieved their lost loved ones.

Eldrin, hoping for his parents' return, was there too. Seeing the bodies of Eleria and Tahion, it felt like the world collapsed around him. His knees gave way, and he knelt on the ground, tears streaming as he held his parents' lifeless hands.

"Mom!! Dad!!" Eldrin cried, holding Eleria and Tahion's cold hands.

"Is this the souvenir you promised me? I don't want this! I don't want it!" Eldrin screamed, continuing to cry.

The loss of his parents shattered Eldrin's heart. The cheerful and affectionate young druid slowly withered, replaced by a deep void of sorrow and confusion.

He couldn't understand why the world had taken away the two people he loved most, and as time passed, this confusion hardened into anger. He found himself questioning the very nature of duty, loyalty, and justice. How could the Queen, who was supposed to protect Eldoria, send his parents to their deaths? This question gnawed at him, turning his grief into bitterness.

Yet, beneath the surface, a part of him longed for the warmth and love that had once filled his life. As he grew older, the pain didn't fade, and the struggle between his longing for peace and his need for vengeance became an endless battle within him. His heart wavered between memories of his parents' loving guidance and the dark path he felt drawn to, ultimately leading him to seek revenge against Queen Elara.
