Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

At a hospital somewhere in London,Tabitha woke up to the sound of people arguing. The first thing that hit her was the very painful headache. Where was she?

She tried to remember, but she couldn't conjure any memory. She tried to sit up but something or rather somebody was holding her. She looked up to see three people in the room.

A guy was holding her hand. When he noticed she was awake, he shushed everyone in the room.

"How are you feeling"

IN PAINS, she wanted to scream, but she could not talk.

The guy beside her give her a cup of water to drink. What a nice guy.

She drank the water and replied him, " In pains. Where am I?"

"You had an accident. You were hit by a truck".

She looked at the guy, he had full pitch black hair and a silver stud on his left ear.

"You passed out", He continued

"How long was I out"

"Long enough for Nathan to return", a stout woman answered.

"Um... who's Nathan?" I do not recall anyone named Nathan.

The three people in the room looked at each other with fear on faces.

Just then, a man entered the room. The man locked eyes with her for a brief moment before greeting the rest of the people in the room.

"Good day, I assume we haven't met before. My name is Sam, doctor sam. You.were hit by a truck, luckily you survived" he paused then continued, " but I have bad news. You hit your head hard, and well, your brain was hurt. You cannot remember or recognize people you once knew. You have partial memory loss, Tabitha "

Tabitha did not understand what was going on.

Memory loss? Partial?

" Well, you were passed out for three days now. And let me just check you up, then you'll be free to go home"

The three people excused the doctor and went outside the ward.

While he was on it, Tabitha tried to process what he just said. "Uhm, I did not quite get you said. You said I lost my memory?"

"Yes, but just partly. The only thing you can't remember are people's face and whatever events that connect them. But you can still cook recipes you knew before the accident, you can still sing songs you knew before the accident. You just can't recognize people. It's like, the people you know and have come in contact with has been erased from your memory"

Tabitha let that sink in. She has partial memory loss. She cannot remember people she once knew.

" On the bright side, it's a rare case but I assure you, you'll have your full memories in some months time. Let's say three "

Tabitha did not know what to make of this. Three months?

Did this man think she could walk around having no idea of the people she comes in contact daily?

When the doctor was done, he called the three people who where in the room earlier to introduce themselves. The guy that was holding her hand started, "I'm Peter, I am.....well, I used to date you." He looked pained as he said it, like somehow all of this was his fault. The woman in the group continued, "I'm Imogen. I am your foster mother ".

Imogen pointed to the other guy in the room. He was wearing a black t-shirt with shorts and he was quite good looking, " That's Nathan, your brother. He... just flew in from New York, where he works, when he heard about your accident"

By this time the doctor was already out of the ward. " We were arguing over a very important matter when you woke up. You see, Nathan here believes that the best way to cure this memory loss, is to start a new life. Nathan wants to take you with him to New York city. While I die here lonely", she paused and looked at him angrily, "But, I believe if you were here, in London, where you lost your memories, you will be able to recover swiftly", Imogen said with a smile. Nathan shook his head and said to Tabitha "The choice is left to you, Tabitha. What do you want to do?"

Peter said angrily, "Don't you think it's too early for this? She just woke up from a fucking three day nap, and you're asking her silly questions?"

Nathan stared daggers at Peter and Tabitha could feel the air between them sparking, but Imogen came to the rescue, "Ah Tabitha, you must be hungry. Why don't Nathan go bring something for you to eat, right?"

"I'll gladly go" Nathan excused himself.

It looks like from this little exchange, Nathan and Peter do not like each other and Tabitha wondered why.

Nathan returned to the room with food.

Immediately, Tabitha grabbed the pack from him and my chewed hungrily. I guess not eating for three days can make you go crazy.

"Be careful", Imogen slowly rubbed her hand on her back.

"When you're done, we can go home"

Silence fell across the room as they watched her eat. Tabitha wondered what

must be going on in their minds. They're probably feeling pity for me. She tried to remember any of them, any face at all. But all she could remember were pieces of memory that failed to give her a clear picture. She stopped when her head felt like it was going to explode any moment from now.

On the bright side, she could not remember anything that people did to her, so she doesn't have to worry about anything. She'll just live like she has nothing to hold back.
