"I've never been treated this nicely."
Kelvin groaned beneath his words. His voice is so deep, like a haunting animal. His back was turned at Ivy, who didn't see the fierceness in his eyes and was busy preparing for and blabbering about the last minutes they spent in bed together.
"You are really good, and calm, I guess, but you almost killed me," she said, softly raising her and straightening it at the front of the mirror.
She noticed his silence and wanted to move close to him. "Are you okay, Kelvin? she said, almost getting close to him. Before she could, Kelvin was able to shut down his desire for her. The pain of restraining himself so he would not be caught in his true identity made him sober. He wishes he could tell her right now, but Ivy doesn't seem ready for the truth.
"Yeah, I am. Not too bad, I'm just worn out," he stood up and got to her, holding her face. "You just surprised me."
"You love me, I love you, and we had sex," she said, landing a kiss on his cheeks. She left him standing and went to sleep.
Kelvin was triggered by her words; he hated himself for not revealing who he was to her. He could still feel her shiver, and the way he touched her soft skin reminded him of Andrea's soft fur. He'd always appreciate her beauty on a full moon. Andrea's presence always gives him comfort, but he is finding solace in another woman's hand, whom he wants to claim as his.
Mel was soundly sleeping. The cold reminded her of the opened curtains she forgot to pull down. She stood up to drop it and make it well fit; her thoughts shifted to the book Ivy showed her earlier. She became uncomfortable with the presence of the book. She stepped out of the house through the window; the night was a full moon, and she hasn't had any kind of comfort since she became friends with Ivy.
She felt Ivy would be afraid of her if she told her the truth. Still, her heart trembled as she walked through the woods. She hoped there'd be time to tell her on her birthday; after all, they are all grown up. Mel kept on sweeping through the grasses till she knew she was safe to turn. In a minute, her fur dropped into the skylight, gleaming and shining through the brightness of the moon. Her eyes gleamed gold, and she ran swiftly far into the dark. Her strength has been minimised; it was like she was ageing so fast.
"Stop, Mel," her wolf, Irene, made her stop in an instant. Mel was going too far. Her thoughts have covered up her mind, making her not think of home. She turned back, walking gently, almost going to miss her way, when she heard a howl in the middle of the trees.
She quickly hid behind a tree. Are there any more wolves in this town? Because, as far as she's concerned, they've all been eliminated from the Moon Cave town. But that was the town she was born in before her family died. She met Ivy, who still had a mom at the time, before she died of cancer.
Ivy's mom would always appreciate Mel whenever she's around and would serve them together. High school has been hard for her after all that. She refused to find a mate and stay in human form until she's ready to control her transformation. Literally, intimacy with her mate would cause her obsession to take on her wolf form.
She could hear the rustles of the trees and closer steps towards her. She cooled and peeped through her hiding place; no one would have such a big aura wandering around the forests.
Ivy couldn't sleep after trying to. The voice in her head would not let her; she opened her eyes and couldn't find Kelvin. She went into Mel's room, calling her name "Mel. Mel?" she called out, but received no response.
"Where are you, Mel?"
"Kelvin?" She sighed in sadness, not hearing any one of them give an answer.
Mel had seen who was there, her mouth covered with her hands so as not to scream. She couldn't believe her eyes.
She turned back and came out of her hiding place. Their eyes met, his and hers. Kelvin adored the wolf standing right in front of him, looking so small and beautiful. He moved closer and sniffed her, his eyes right on hers. The tension between them was rising. Mel took off swiftly again, found her way to the house, and got in.
Ivy heard a sound coming from her room and went back in.
"Mel, I've been looking all over for you; where have you been, and how do you look so rusty?" She looked at her face, waiting for a response.
"Uh, I was in the house; I just stepped out for some air."
"Mel, are you okay? You don't look fine."
"Ivy, I'm okay."
"Alright then, I'll head on." She got to the door and turned again. "Have you seen Kelvin? He's not inside either."
"He's not? I don't know where he is." She went under her sheets and slept.
Ivy wondered what was going on; her mind was instilled with Kelvin's disappearance. She went back to the room, waiting for him. After long hours of waiting, the night washed off so fast that Kelvin didn't return to the house. Ivy washed the sunrise without Kelvin; her pain was lifted in disappointment. Her love for Kelvin was gradually taking all of her; she suddenly had the fear of losing him.
-------------
"Don't come any closer, Kelvin."
"Why? You wanted me inside of you yesterday."
"Yeah? and that gave you a reason to leave without saying goodbye?"
"Oh! That."
"Yes, that Kelvin."
"I'm sorry, I had to run off for a bit of business." Kelvin was bothered; she was really concerned; he thought they just had a night.
"Yeah, I forgot you have friends already." She smirked, turning her back to him.
"Ivy, I'm sorry." He said, moving close to her and giving her a calm rub on the face.
