The atmosphere is increasingly filled with thick fog accompanied by increasingly dropping temperatures. Still in the same castle but in a different room surrounded only by candlelight in every corner of the room. The atmosphere was very quiet, so that the breathing of a man on the bed could be heard.
Slowly his eyelids opened, revealing very charming emerald irises. His brows immediately furrowed as the surrounding candlelight entered his vision and then moved his attention throughout the room before finally sitting down.
"What place is this?" he muttered.
The appearance of the room looked very classic and ancient but still elegant like the historical places he often saw in museums. Many paintings, statues and animal headdresses. Don't forget that the ornaments on each object seem to take it back to ancient times.
Why is he in this place? he thought wonderingly.
Then Dave tried to remember what had happened before he became unconscious. He entered the very dark pine forest to look for Jeane. However, on the way, he met many wild wolves that were so ferocious that they put him in danger. Then inevitably he turned into a wolf so he could fight with the creature until finally another wolf came to help him.
Oh, yeah. Dave remembered. The wolf was also a werewolf, just like him. It should be noted that Dave Parker is known as a friendly, kind man, a dutiful child and clever at school. However, the fact that other people don't know is that Dave is actually not human. He was a wolf, but a slightly different wolf.
Dave thought he could eat foods that contained garlic. He thought everyone would drink blood every day like he did. And he thought that what he always heard in his mind was just imagination. But apparently not. Dave is different.
Dave has been aware of this since he was a teenager. There was something unusual about his instincts—unlike other humans. Until finally he found out the truth from his mother that he was not human. Absolutely not human.
Dave has never known his origins or his real parents. This is still a secret from the woman who he has always called the mother at home. But what is clear is that everything happened 20 years ago. However, he never felt curious.
For a few moments of silence, Dave finally took a deep breath as he got out of bed. Still continuing to observe this room until suddenly his eyes were attracted to a large painting. He stepped closer to the painting, a painting in which there was a picture of a blonde man holding a baby and a boy standing next to him.
Ordinary painting, nothing interesting but somehow able to make attention not want to look away. Not long after, the door opened and suddenly he turned around.
"Oh, you're awake." The man entered and stepped closer to Dave.
"Who are you?" Dave asked while squinting.
"My name is Daniel. Damian told me to bring you here."
Dave turned his body to face the person named Daniel. "Damian? Who's he?"
"He's my brother who helped you fight the wild wolves earlier."
Is it true? So the man was the owner of this place. The incarnation of a silver wolf with blue eyes who had helped Dave finish off the black wolves.
"Thank You. Sorry for bothering you."
"No problem, buddy. Now tell me, which colony are you from? The silver-furred wolf is from our colony. Do you have any relatives here?"
Dave frowned, not understanding. "Colony? What's that?"
Dave's ignorance surprised Daniel. He raised an eyebrow, confused. "How could you not know? You're a werewolf."
Of course Dave didn't understand anything. His life has been mixed with humans for too long. He still doesn't even accept that he is a werewolf.
"I am a werewolf, but since childhood I have lived with humans."
"What do you mean?" Daniel frowned.
Dave turned back to face the painting. Remembering his identity made his heart suddenly sad. "I mean, I don't know anything about my origins. I don't know who my parents are. What I know is that I was raised by a woman who until now I call mother."
Daniel looked so disbelieving. He even widened his eyelids. It turns out that there are also people who can live in the human world, which for the werewolf people in the human world has too many rules and pleasantries.
"But I still realize that I am not human," continued Dave.
"So you went to the forest to find your identity?" Daniel arbitrarily guessed.
Suddenly Dave turned again towards Daniel. "No. I never wanted to look for my origins. I'm quite comfortable with my life now."
"Then why did you go to the forest?"
"I was looking for someone who suddenly disappeared, but instead I met those bastard wolves."
Daniel wanted to ask Dave another question, but his intention was stopped when the door to the room was opened again by Damian. Dave stared at Damian's arrival until the man stood next to Daniel.
The atmosphere suddenly changed after the man's arrival. The aura that radiated was much different from Daniel. Damian is scarier behind his face which looks like a good boy. The sharp glare full of intimidation really made Dave feel uncomfortable. Dave felt like lowering his head. Instantly he thought that Damian was an important figure who was greatly feared in this place.
"You're a vampire, I shouldn't have taken you," Damian said.
The man put his hands in his trouser pockets then stepped slightly to get closer to Dave without showing friendliness.
"But I have a reason for this, Dave," he continued.
Dave remained silent as he continued to return Damian's gaze with trembling guts. He felt something strange when this man stood opposite him, but he didn't know what it was.
"I need your help," Damian continued once again.
An unstoppable frown of confusion. "What kind of help?"
"Come on follow me. I'll show you something."
Still feeling confused when Damian stepped forward, for a moment Dave glanced at Daniel to ask something.
"Just come along," said Daniel.
Then, full of questions, Dave followed Damian. He walked along the corridor and met several people who stared strangely at him. Their sense of smell will definitely smell vampire blood. He tried not to care until he finally came to a room where there were lots of books.
"Wait here."
Dave nodded. He sat down in one of the chairs at the reading table while looking around to observe the entire room which had many bookshelves lined up.
"What a great place," he said with admiration.
Not long after, Damian came and immediately sat opposite Dave while placing a book on the table.
"What book is it?" Dave asked.
After that, Damian told Dave to read the whole thing without any explanation before that. Of course Dave didn't really understand. His mind works like a human's so that reading this book feels like reading a fairy tale.
"I don't understand. What does that have to do with me?"
"Look at your hand," said Damian, tilting his chin towards Dave's right hand.
Dave looked at his own right hand, which had a mark on the wrist. Don't worry, he is already aware of the existence of the sign. "I thought this mark was just a normal scar that happened to be oddly shaped."
Damian then explained everything he had experienced, even though he himself was too lazy to say much. Especially with Dave, whose head is too troublesome like a human.
"Then the other sign? It says here there are three."
"I've found the mark. That person is my mate."
Dave nodded slowly then closed the book. In fact, it was still a bit strange in his mind and he was quite reluctant to say yes, but Damian had helped him with the excuse of asking for help too. It will cause feelings of embarrassment if he doesn't agree.
"Okay. But can I go home first? My mother is alone at home. She just got out of the hospital and I have to always look after her until she recovers."
"You only live with your mother? Another?"
"Just with my mom. Actually, she's not my real mother, but I really love her."
"Aren't you supposed to stay with your pack?"
Dave sighed. It seemed like he was really tired of answering questions about that. All the terms that should be attached to him, he did not know at all. "I don't know. So far, I have become accustomed to living as a human. I don't know where I came from."
In Damian's flat gaze, concern was actually hidden when Dave told the story. Maybe if he was really that cruel, then Dave wouldn't be allowed to leave and instead locked him up. However, for some reason he felt he had a heart for this person. Not usually.
"So can I go home?"
"Okay. But if I need your help later, you want to help me, right?"
Wait, is that really you, Damian? Very good today.
"Of course. I must repay you for your help." Dave developed a thin smile so that without realizing it, Damian also smiled, even though it was very faint, whether visible or not.
"Thanks."
After that, the two of them left the room and Damian took Dave to the gate of his pack area.
"This path will lead you to the main road safely. I'm sure there are no wild wolves passing this way," said Damian, pointing in a direction.
"Thank you, Damian."
Dave left. For a moment Damian watched the man leave until he disappeared into the fog. It's not something ambiguous, but there is something that is difficult to explain about what Damian felt today when he met Dave.
"Strange wolf. Suddenly I felt there was a father," he monologued.
Not paying attention to this, Damian returned to his castle and approached Jeane's room intending to visit the girl again. Is she still trying to escape or not? After arriving in the room, Damian thought he would get harsh curses or a hit from Jeane but what he saw was the girl sleeping on the sofa.
Tired, Miss?
Damian grinned as he stepped closer. "You seem very tired, even though I haven't done anything to you." For a moment, he brushed the girl's bangs and then moved her onto the bed.
Damian observed Jeane's innocent face while sleeping with a very deep gaze. His fingers moved to remove the hair that had fallen onto Jeane's beautiful face. Then when his eyes lowered, he saw Jeane's lower lip, which of course had a scar from the kiss earlier.
"Oh sorry."
It was his doing and Damian was very sorry for going too far even though he knew his lover was human. However, sometimes he can't control his own lust because he wants to immediately mark the girl. He just didn't want what he had been waiting for all this time, to be away again.
"You are my life. I can't possibly be far from you," he muttered tenderly then kissed Jeane gently on the forehead and finally a short kiss on the lips.
"Good night, my violet."
Wolves are indeed harsh in expressing their love. But behind it all, their sincerity is real. No matter how different he is from his partner, destiny is still destiny that will always be guarded until death.
