Chapter 125 - Keep Your Ego Low III

The classroom was filled with a chorus of groans and complaints. Some students took out their phones, using the flashlight function to illuminate the room, while others simply sat in the darkness, grumbling about the inconvenience.

IM leaned closer to me, a mischievous glint in his eyes. "Want to have some fun?" he whispered.

I grinned back. "Always."

He leaned closer to whisper to me.

I nodded in agreement to his whispered suggestion.

A sudden girl's voice appears in everyone's head, saying 'I'm behind you,' I imagined, focusing my power.

Just then, I also experienced the effect.

"I'm behind you," the voice echoed in everyone's minds, sending a shiver down their spines.

A collective gasp echoed through the darkened classroom as the eerie voice penetrated their thoughts. The students, already on edge from the sudden power outage, were now gripped by a primal fear. Some shrieked, others whimpered, and a few brave souls attempted to fumble for their phones, their shaky hands struggling to find the flashlight buttons.

"W-What was that?" a girl's voice trembled from the back of the room.

"I-I don't know," another student stammered, his voice barely a whisper. "B-But it sounded like it was right behind me..."

The atmosphere grew thick with tension, every creak and groan of the old building amplified in the darkness. I could feel the fear radiating from my classmates, their imaginations running wild.

IM, beside me, suppressed a chuckle. "This is too easy," he whispered, his voice laced with amusement.

I couldn't help but agree. It was almost unfair how easily we could manipulate their perceptions. But it was also a reminder of the power we wielded, the responsibility that came with our abilities.

Suddenly, a loud crash echoed from the back of the room. Someone had knocked over a chair in their panic. The sound triggered a chain reaction, and soon the entire classroom was in disarray, students scrambling over each other to escape the perceived threat.

"Everyone, calm down!" I shouted, my voice cutting through the chaos. "There's nothing to be afraid of!"

But my words fell on deaf ears. The students, driven by their primal fear, continued their frantic exodus, pushing and shoving their way out of the computer lab. IM and I joined the flow, careful not to get trampled in the stampede.

The classroom was empty, with everyone gathered outside in the hallway, talking about the eerie incident. IM and I couldn't help but laugh at the memory of their initial fear. This would be a story they'd tell for years to come, that's for sure.

Rayhan and Marcel walked closer to us, their expressions a mix of curiosity and unease.

"You guys weren't afraid... earlier, that voice..." Marcel stammered.

Rayhan adjusted his glasses, his voice slightly shaky. "M-My personality isn't scared of voices. It was just the people screaming that startled me..." he lied, clearly trying to save face.

IM and I simply shook our heads in amusement.

"There's nothing to be afraid of," I replied, keeping my tone light. "It was just a voice, you know..." I didn't want to reveal any more details than necessary.

Well, that was about it for the excitement at school. Let's move on to WRA Company. It was late afternoon when IM and I arrived at the office.

"So what should we do now?" I asked Dove, who was sitting at her laptop.

"Put on your suits and, you know, fly around the city, be heroes," she said with a casual shrug.

"Where's Yolan?" IM asked, looking around the office.

"I'm here," Yolan replied from behind them.

IM and I turned to see her, already clad in her "Steel Maiden" suit, complete with spikes, chains, and a determined expression.

"I'm ready," she declared, flexing her gloved hands.

"Alright, team," Dove said, closing her laptop and standing up. "Let's go make a difference."

We left the office, heading towards the rooftop where we had transformed the night before. The city sprawled beneath us, a tapestry of lights and shadows. I took a deep breath, feeling a surge of anticipation. It was time to embrace our roles as heroes.

I closed my eyes, focusing my imagination. We can fly...

A moment later, we were airborne, soaring above the city streets. The wind whipped through our hair, the cool night air invigorating. Yolan took the lead, her powerful form cutting through the air with ease. IM followed close behind, his shadowy robe billowing in the breeze. I brought up the rear, my cape flowing behind me like a banner.

"Any suggestions on where to start our patrol?" I shouted over the wind.

"Let's check out the downtown area," Yolan replied. "There's always some kind of trouble brewing there."

We changed course, heading towards the heart of the city. As we flew, I couldn't help but feel a sense of awe at the sight below us. The city lights twinkled like a million stars, casting a magical glow over the urban landscape. It was a beautiful sight, but I knew that beneath the surface, darkness lurked.

It was our job to find it, to protect the innocent, and to uphold justice. We were the Unveiled, and we wouldn't let the Seers win.

As we found a tall building in the middle of the bustling city, the three of us stood at the edge, feeling the wind rush against us.

"Here... a lot of people are returning home now..." Yolan observed.

I sat on the edge of the building. "Let's just wait here, and if there's any danger, I'll let you know."

Both of them nodded.

Imagine... I can sense danger... I focused, channeling my power.

A heightened awareness settled over me, my senses expanding beyond the physical realm. The bustling city below became a tapestry of emotions and intentions, each person a flickering light in the vastness of the night. I could sense joy, sorrow, excitement, and fear intermingling in the air.

Suddenly, a discordant note pierced through the symphony of emotions. It was a wave of anger and frustration.

"There's something I can feel... not necessarily danger, but it seems..." I trailed off, getting up and walking to the other edge of the building.

"What is it?" Yolan asked, joining me. "Some kind of ghost?"

I shook my head, feeling the wind brush against my face. "No, it's just a fight in the middle of the road..." I pointed to a street below, where traffic was backed up and two men were brawling in the middle of the road.
