With a warm smile, she dismissed the class. As we filed out of the room, I couldn't help but feel a sense of accomplishment.
The class fell quiet as the teacher left. I opened my phone to search for something interesting while others chatted amongst themselves.
A quiet silence surrounded me; no one talked to me. IM was beside me, engaged in conversation with others, while I just played on my phone.
Until...
"A fire outside!" Roro yelled, his voice echoing through the room.
Everyone fell silent and turned to look at Roro.
He was standing by the window, pointing at a large black cloud of smoke and flames billowing from a house.
People rushed to the window for a better look.
"Oh no..."
"Whose house is that...?"
I looked at IM, and we both nodded, silently acknowledging the situation. We discreetly left the classroom. That's right, it was hero time.
"So, how do we save it? Do we need hero costumes?" IM chuckled as we walked down the hallway.
"Should we?" I asked, pondering the idea.
Both of us stopped in the middle of the hallway.
"Why not? You want to be a hero all the time, right?" IM smirked.
I nodded, "But what about the costumes?"
"Use your imagination. Let's go to the bathroom to change!" IM said, already running down the hallway.
I nodded and followed him, a sense of excitement building within me.
We rushed into the nearest bathroom, locking the door behind us. The sterile white tiles and humming fluorescent lights felt surreal compared to the urgency of the situation.
"Alright, let's see..." IM muttered, pacing back and forth. "What kind of hero costumes can we come up with?"
I closed my eyes, focusing my imagination. "Something sleek, something that can move easily..."
A picture formed in my mind: a masked and black bodysuit with reinforced padding, a utility belt filled with gadgets, and a flowing cape. I opened my eyes and concentrated, channeling my power.
A moment later, I was no longer wearing my school uniform. In its place was the costume I had envisioned, a perfect fit for my new physique. I turned to IM.
IM was staring at me, his mouth agape. "Dude..." he stammered, "you look... incredible."
I glanced down at myself, surprised by the sleekness and functionality of the costume. It felt like a second skin, allowing me complete freedom of movement. "Thanks," I said, grinning. "Now, what about you?"
"Okay... I want you to imagine clothes for me... I like black, like robes..." IM requested.
I nodded and closed my eyes. A robe... all black clothes... a belt... a pouch... I imagined everything I could.
With a deep breath, I opened my eyes. IM stood before me, transformed. He was clad in a flowing black robe that seemed to ripple and shift with every movement, as if it were made of shadows themselves. A silver belt cinched his waist, adorned with intricate symbols that pulsed with an otherworldly light. A matching pouch hung at his hip, its contents a mystery. But the most striking change was his mask. It covered the upper half of his face, crafted from a sleek, dark material that seemed to absorb all light. The only visible features were his eyes, now glowing with an intense, ethereal blue.
IM turned, examining himself in the mirror. A smirk spread across his face, the mask accentuating its mischievousness. "Not bad, Xian," he said, his voice slightly muffled by the mask. "You've outdone yourself."
"You like it?" I asked, secretly pleased with my creation.
"I love it," IM replied, striking a dramatic pose. "It's perfect for lurking in the shadows and delivering surprise attacks."
I chuckled. "Just try not to scare any innocent bystanders."
"Alright, now... imagine us flying outside the school, Xian!" IM requested, his excitement bubbling over.
I closed my eyes. We can fly... and we teleport outside the school...
The world around us blurred, a sensation of weightlessness washing over me. Then, with a gentle whoosh, we found ourselves standing on the rooftop of the school, the cityscape stretching out before us under the bright afternoon sun.
A gasp escaped my lips as I looked down at the city below, the wind whipping through my new attire. The sleek black bodysuit felt empowering, the cape billowing dramatically behind me.
IM, beside me, let out a low whistle. "Ahhh... finally, I can float again," he said, his voice slightly muffled by his mask. He spread his arms, his robe fluttering in the breeze.
"Well, let's not get ahead of ourselves," I chuckled, though I couldn't deny the thrill of the moment. "We have a fire to put out."
We scanned the horizon, searching for the source of the smoke. It wasn't long before we spotted it, a thick black plume rising from a residential area not far from the school.
"There!" I pointed.
Swooosh!
Without another word, we took off, leaping from the rooftop and soaring through the air. The wind rushed past us, a symphony of exhilaration and purpose.
We arrived at the scene of the fire within minutes, landing gracefully on a nearby building. The house was fully engulfed in flames, the heat radiating outwards with an intensity that was almost unbearable.
"Look above! There's someone flying!" a yell from the ground reached our ears.
The crowd below scattered in a mix of awe and fear, their eyes glued to the sky as we descended towards the burning house. The heat intensified as we neared the inferno, the air shimmering with waves of distortion.
