Chereads / An Ordeal of The Warlords / Chapter 45 - The Unstable Forest.

Chapter 45 - The Unstable Forest.

Tick tock tick tock....

The noise of the cloak was so loud that it screamed across the entire room. The vision towards everything was hasy and incomplete to make out any faces, but Arya could see the white one sitting across the tables.

"Who are you?" Arya expressed his calm words, the feeling of doubt or emotion was absent, just the pure thinking of the mind. Things were passing relentlessly fast, there was no moment to hold onto. Thoughts and memories were passing like wind.

"Why did you kill me in the court in the last dream?" When the white one didn't answer, Arya joined his second question with his first one.

"..." The answer was the same as in the past, instead of saying anything, the white one drew out his sword from its sheath. It was a katana blade instead of long or greatsword.

"I will remember this one." Another thing Arya noticed was where he was sitting, a hall filled with ice and snow. A throne, a cup a wine on the marble coloured in style of a chess board, and footsteps.

"Four remain... that of?" The fingers on the other hand of the white one counted to four instead of six like the last time, it was a countdown, he realised. "But what off? What was coming?"

"You will not remember this." The white one spoke the same words as the last time, and Arya took a deep breath, ready to take the attack to his neck. His body wouldn't answer his wishes to protect himself, he was frozen on his white bed.

"You will-" Arya turned his face to the side, when the footsteps from behind became the voice of a woman. He turned around his face to see the person, but the attack of the sword came first, and the world faded into darkness once again.

------

"ha..aaa.." Heavily gasping, Arya woke up his bed, there he rubbed his eyes looking around in the dark trying to feel where he was. He got up from the bed and the magic prism gave its light.

The room became light and clear then Arya finally sat down on the floor leaning against his bed. "What was the dream?"

Dreams were often forgotten far and long after anyone woke up, there was no significance to a dream till now. Arya had a feeling the dream was to be remembered, there was something important in that fleeting imagination.

He got a hold of himself and tried to write on paper, but the words didn't flow out for him. There not a word he could remember or describe. He sat gripping his breaches and tried to fall asleep again.

His dreams didn't come back and he could sleep anymore, Arya let a exasperated sigh.

"Things aren't going the way they should be. River and Reva are really falling apart for their pasts, while Sera is not understanding what is going on... and Ana has looked herself in the mansion. And, now this weird dream..."

Arya hadn't seen Reva since she walked out of the room after shooting the picture of the ravens. River was furious and a bit shanked, but not nearly as Ana, how couldn't move a muscle after the shock of the event.

Sera was playing with the kids when she saw Reva run into the forest, and stopping her from becoming the peace restoring entity was even more difficult. "She will do something, none of them is going to like soon."

Standing up from his chair, Arya saw two vials of blood lying near the bottom of his bed. He wonder who kept them there, "Must have been Ana."

It was a good feeling that in fact, things were still going, but it felt wrong at the same time. It was a time when everyone should be take a break and relax a day. They the days were heavy in the past three weeks, like finding spiders, taking care of the orange cat( it was a female and the name is Iris) and of course learning to cook.

He moved his eyes towards the clock, the time was crossing 5:40 in the morning. He was not sure who was up or not. But nonetheless, waking up early was helpful.

"I think it is my turn to cook." Arya took a minute to set himself ready, in his white trousers and navy blue vest, washed his face in the mirror, wore his shoes, grabbed one of the two vial and put it in his pockets.

He got out of the room and the house. Peaking at Sera, sleeping in her room, and Reva not being in her room. The kitchen was empty, there were still some blood stains on the area where Arya vomited.

He came out of the entry door, walked to the other side of the house right at the ledge of the foundations and, and took a deep breath, attempting he thought he need to do.

He took his steps back from the ledge to the wall of the house, his feet shaking at bit but he had to do it. He closed his eyes before he his feet feet moved forward and began running ready to jump from the ledge.

"I can't do it." A second before the end was foot away his courage betrayed him, Arya moved away from the ledge barely avoided his fall. He looked down from the ledge at the stream flowing right below him.

Arya gave a expresparated sigh, disappointed by his indecisive cowardice, and walked to the other side once again. Taking the ladder below this time.

The folks below already moving in town, Arya saw humans, Rizen the woodcutter, Paul the cook and dwarfs like Staus, the brown hunter swinging his dual faced axe, and Nokaus, the a person more devoted to god than most priests carrying a holy symbol of star. He was on good terms with all of them.

All and there was a interesting variety of people around the town. Filled with knowledge and superstitions of all sorts, but none could tell Arya why all dwarf names must end with '-aus', a thing that had no mentions anywhere, while it being so peculiar.

He walked the path of the second time, and reached the tree filled staircase out from the ravine.

"Time to warm up, before my exercise." A lot of just the happened the day before, but Arya couldn't let that stop him. He had two weeks only to power himself before Mercy would began his plan. Time was waiting for no conflict.

"In the best case scenario, I might find Reva inside the forest." He did some warming up he had seen some dragon steel warriors do. Jumping left and right, sit ups, push ups stretching all parts of the body and some neck rotations.

"Let's go." Arya began his first sprint by running towards the stairs, climbing the steps as fast as he could. He jumped from one to another stretching his legs and feet. Trying to cover one step in one go.

"..." The first few steps he passed easily at full speed then, the pain of muscle feeling the lengthy steps began on his legs, in the next few steps his upper body began hurting and then his feet themselves.

"Don't stop! Don't stop!" He kept saying to himself at the he moved higher and higher the steps began to feel more difficult and steep. This heart pounded and thigh muscles screamed foe him to stop. Sweat was already on his entire body.

"Don't stop! Don't stop!" Arya had more reason to run keeping moving, but the stairs were looking much more formidable. Arya tried to fix his focus, and not look at the stairs left.

The breath became heavier as he moved, he tried to remember what he had to do and what was done to him.

"I need to be the king. I will have my revenge... I need to lead the group.." He tried whispering this to himself. What could he wish to accomplish if he couldn't even the climb a staircase.

The heavy breath and turmoil all ended by when the last stair came to Arya's feet, and me reached the mountain above. He fell on this knees taking deep breaths, and absorbing all the pain in his body.

"Can't... Imagine running 1 mile after this let alone 10." Mercy got but up on his hurting legs thinking about what to do next. "I think I'll walk to through the forest."

He was unable to use this warlord energy and aura to help himself and get more accustomed to mana. His also made Arya realised that a normal woodcutter make a better mana user than a seasoned warrior using aura.

He began walking on the ground to the side was attacked, Mercy had told Ana, "I have cleared the forest of all unknown dangers, still there are little dangers."

"I don't want to imagine what Mercy means by little if he got the blood of a vampire lord for daily basis, or that he killed a warlord while he was inside his realm." Arya asked himself.

Before walking into the forest of blood once again.
