Chereads / An Ordeal of The Warlords / Chapter 37 - Adjustments.

Chapter 37 - Adjustments.

The scene around the group had changed a while in the day. From sitting in a small wooden house to sitting in a mansion room, filled with cherry red and white paint inside. The flowers were beautiful, filled in pots, with no curtains and polished blackwood doors.

"Have you seen flowers like these? I haven't."

"I know a few of them, those small pink flowers are called Walleriana. I like them, and there are also viola and some others..."

Sitting on the comfortable hand-crafted, blue cotton sofa. Arya and Reva relax and chat about the flower pots, waiting for the owner to arrive in the room.

"Sorry to keep you waiting." River entered the room holding a stray with three glasses and a bottle of wine. He was wearing proper royal attire with green and white coats and pants.

"Already wearing the colour of house Emerald. You are not the ruler of Nausicaa yet, you might need to slow down." Arya joked.

"Well, who knows how long we will live, we might as well enjoy the royal life when we are happy and alive." River placed the tray on the table and put the glasses in front of the two guests.

"Being rich and having money really brings class into any person. I have to say, you were saving every penny he had during the contracts in the deserts." Reva smeared.

She picked up a glass and the bottle of wine, poured herself a sip of wine, moved it around in her glass and took the sip, "Have to say, wine is far better than any drink they sell in the desert. The taste and texture are quite exquisite."

Arya watched in surprise at how classy and royal Reva could act, there was a change in her. Did Mercy give her some special formula or gift perhaps?

"You think the wrong way, Reva." River poured himself some wine, holding the glass in his finger in the most elegant way. "The element of style is always there, all it takes is some money and power to achieve it." he sipped down the wine after that.

"You people really act differently when talking to each other. Speaking like rural folk trying to act rich, but you match the actions of any royal personality just fine." Arya commented on the situation.

"Well, you have lived in the castle, your high majesty. Show us peasants, and crawlers some act of elegance." Reva of all people handed her glass to Arya.

"Well, I wish I was a person having 'The Majesty' title, but it seems I fail at both qualifications." Arya slightly pushed away Reva's glass.

"Neither I have any royal afflictions nor do I like drinking alcohol in any form. I was judging you from the style I have seen people use."

"..?" The desert people looked at Arya in complete surprise, "What happened? Did I get declared as the most pure person ever?"

"I am really sorry, Arya. Didn't know it was like that." River nodded in sadness and placed his glass on the table.

"My apologies, too." Reva followed.

"What are you people doing? Is this some sort of harassment in the desert? Are you guys making fun of me?" Arya was confused and annoyed by the behaviour; they shared one mind when talking and acting weird.

"Stop annoying him, Rural peasants." Ana came from the door carrying a tray of tea kettle, cups and some cookies on it. She placed the tray on the table and sat down after adjusting her dress.

"So, Arya and Reva, how do you like our house?" Ana asked with a cheerful smile while pouring the tea.

"Amazing from all sides, good architecture, paint and greenery. Animals, green grass and an amazing aroma around the house and the marvellous story behind this place." Arya asked while taking the cup of tea.

"A sincere thank you for the praise," Ana said, but she bowed with her husband in sync.

"I would like to say much more than Arya has, but those are things for some other day. I think we have other questions about everything." Reva changed the subject of the conversation.

"Can you please explain how your room connects to the forest?"

"There was only one room inside the forest and there was one in the ravine. The two are connected using special magic of paradox. Only Mercy knows how to cast that." River explained, "Ask Ana for how it functions."

Arya and Reva turned their eyes on Ana,

"The magic works on the idea of the dilemma. Imagine a ship called the Ship of Ra, named by its Captain. Of course this ship will be made of some materials right?"

"Yes."

"Then the question is that, If I take all the parts of a ship and remove all the parts of the ship and make a new one, not from nothing, but slowly replacing each plank, screw and cloth one by one over years." She took a sip of tea.

"The ship becomes a new thing from its original form, now the captain calls the new ship, The Ship of Ra. Is the new ship still free of its old parts, the Ship of Ra?"

"Yes, I think it is the captain and crew that matters, not the ship's parts."

"Then consider this, one day the captain has a quarrel with his sailors. After this the sailor takes all the parts of the old ship and makes a new ship, and names it the Ship of Ra. Which one is the original?" Ana continued

"The Ship made out of the old part was the Ship of Ra, as said by the captain and crew, but that ship slowly became something else, but the captain kept the title for that ship. There exists two ships, which one will be deemed the true Ship of Ra?"

"... I think if we change the wording a bit, it will be answerable.." Reva tried to argue for a change.

"That you can't, " I added the captain to tell you its level of depth, the one Mercy used is without all the captain and crew. Just using the ship in the statements."

"Can you simplify for my small brain?"

"Let me explain to you what Mercy exactly did. He met us before the room was built in the ravine, he built himself a shack out in the woods that we use to come here. Then during the ravine building, he took the wood and screws from that house to build that and made a new room here. I think you can come up with the rest."

"He used the paradox magic to link the two rooms as one, which makes its door travel to different rooms at times?" Arya made up a convincing answer.

"Correct. This is the power of Paradox spells, to use statements in reality making the impossible possible. I wish I could do it, too but fate isn't that kind."

"Can't paradox magic be taught?"

"Yes, but the energy required to perform and the sheer toll it might take on someone's mind, that's unimaginable. I doubt anyone in Uro's and Dynasty's warlord council could do that."

"Then how do you think he could pull that off?"

"I don't know, his aura is too clean to be a warlord's energy. His aura is refined to the core, and his illusion spells are just the most mind-bending things." Ana lined against the sofa.

"I have no idea why he is having you make the healing spell for his mastery in everything? He should be able to do it himself in a week or so." River raised the question.

"It's because he is busy. He will be for the next two months or so, according to him." Reva answered the question, her eyes pinching for a second.

"Because, he is leaving the house by this weekend. He was going to the Horizon, the capital of Uro. Apparently, the young boy is looking for love."
