The sun was reigning in his kingdom of sky as usual on this day too. The windy seasons were coming to an end, but as they were reluctant to leave, their presence was still felt on the whisper, like howlings coming from every door, window, and chimney.
she watched the man bandaging his skewered hand for a minute.Even though she offered to do it for him he strongly refused so she didnt push him any further.
there were several holes on his hand it looked like a ragged shooting target it was really bad,she surprised seeing him so calm and worriles
before the treatment he pulled a chair for her to sit. a quick examination, not that one would needed to be a carpenter to know it, was enough to see how shitty it is
"Dont you anything besides.THİS thing, which I refuse strongly to call a chair"whined Taara as she was holding a chair several centuries past his estimated service time
"WHAaaA??? yo meanie Taara! Mr Table is the best chair I have!"he defended fervently as he pouted
"HaaaaaH,this will be a long day..."
....
Nazar turned his wrist, and with the quick motion, his sleeves slided through his arm, revealing three watches lined up in his forearm. Taara seemed confused by the extra watches, questioning their aim in her head, but didn't ask anything about it.
"35 minutes passed, huh? That was quite a clear explanation; to not cut your talk short, I didn't ask anything, but here I took some notes on my head, and let me tell you, that is a most definitely interesting case, hmm"He sighed and took a deep breath at the end of his talk.
Taara remained silent for a minute but finally asked what was on her mind.
"So?, what do you think about it? Every other shop owner either ignored me like I was some kind of lunatic, or the ones kind enough to listen to me told me they didn't seem anything like it at all. Which one will you be?"
Nazar got up and walked towards one of the shelves, looking for something. After a moment of looking through some bottles, he found what he needed.
"Oh,found it
He looked at his guest, that he had swept some of the junk piles just for her so she could sit (un)comfortably on his old chair.
"Do you smoke?,it has a nice fresh aroma to it " He asked as he raised the pipe in his hand.
"No, it is extremely unhealthy" she quickly blurted, and as she gripped his white dress, holding back tears, she was really tired of it all. She continued shortly after.
"So you are going to ignore me too, huh?"
her mental was really a mess
"Relax. I sometimes have problems focusing, you see, like the earlier today meeting incident. Hahah," said Nazar with a big smile, and he added
"Tobacco helps me ease my mind; it calms down the sly foxes running up and down on my head."
foxes? What was he talking about?
"Soo, let me summarize, and firstly, I am going to say the thing I have to say last: I think you are missing something."
"What do you mean??"
"Yeah, it was no wonder the people just couldn't find a solution. For the old blockheads, the best thing to do when one comes across "unknown" is to just seek happiness through their ignorance."
"So are you with them too? I just can't understand a thing from your words?"She asked, raising one of her eyebrows.
"Hahah, of course not. I am only 18 and I am not a blockhead. Well, most of the time, hah," he replied as he inhaled a mouthful of smoke from his pipe.
"and??"
"Ah, then, let me rephrase it more correctly. What I have been telling you is that there is something not adding up with the symptoms you have been telling me. And knowing you, I don't think you would ever misdiagnose, so we have two probable, several improbable, and one nearly impossible reason: "
"Well, I am flattered, but how do you know about my expertise in my profession?? And what will our so-called problems would be??"
Nazar felt like if he looked a bit more, he could see the question marks flying over his head.
"So let me summarize and go step by step. Shit, wait, did I tell you that before?? De Ja Vu... Oh, and call that a, hmm, gut instinct for now if it's okay with you?" He remarked playfully.
"Hahah, yes, for both of them; just go on,she replied kindly.
"So, you have been working for 8 years on this city for a nobility-funded project to increase the well-being of the citizens. Well, considering the rich people wouldn't need the most of it in the first place, I guess it would be hard for you to deal with mostly poor people in slums??."
"No. not at all, she blurted with a serious poker face. " She seemed to be weighing him and trying to understand his standing. If he were to tell him they didn't even deserve to live, she was ready to throw hands—not that it would do any damage, of course.
"Oh, a precise answer like an arrow to the head. Very well, I see you are an idealistic person. Then let me continue with my deductions. You didn't tell me the project name, but what was it?" Arj Grate Hielka "It was a similar project that they did in the coastal city of Rosjarie that I had been before; they told me it was a countrywide thing, so I wouldn't be surprised if they did it in the capital too.
"ah! thats true I forgot to mention it, but yeah, it was "Arj Grate Hielka" she exclaimed with an intrigued face.
"But I think there is probably more to that. Eight years ago, the world was a dangerous place, and coming from the north, I don't think any ordinary "human" could be able to travel here easily."
"woah woah? What do you mean? I didn't say anything about my ancestry or coming from north. Did you just racial profile me...?"said teasingly Taara as she wore a false expression of shock.
"Aaah, no, damn, I wouldn't normally tell you, but ahhh. Mana, you know?. especially
He knew a thing or two more about her just from looking, but he didn't reveal them to her. Yet he looked at the person in front of him in an instant. His mind hazed, her figure blurred with an icy blue mana around her, and an imaginary coldness seeped through to his even deepest nerves. He flinched a little and waved his head.
"You gotta be kidding me; that is not something ordinary... No, is that even possible?" She exclaimed with her mouth open wide in shock.
"Ah, sorry, but I would really prefer that you keep it a secret, he shyly remarked. He pulled his pipe aside between his teeth, making a "hush" sign with his fingers as his face filled with smoke from his exhalation.
"Mana, huh, I never thought anyone could..." She seemed to be dazed as she muttered. Her head fell, thinking deeply as she gazed under her eyebrows. She saw him innocently looking at her ; his eyes seemed like a multicolored lava lamp for a moment.
"A-anyways, so what I am trying to come here for is that you are not just a village medic mixing herbs and leaves; you are definitely an important person, important enough to have connections with the capital administrators or even a benefactor in the royal palace?" he asked while wearing a smarty-pants face.
"Haah, you got me. Let's say that for now. What is that supposed to be with anything at all?"
"If you have great power, you are bound to have some enemies too. With great power too, of course, do you have any?"
"Hmm, allies and enemies, huh? I don't think I have any of them. Well, alive." she replied
Nazar sensed the change in mood in her The coldness he felt earlier was painstakingly high, and now he felt chills coming from her squinted gaze he trembled ever so slightly.
"Hah, now this calls for field work. Shall we then?"
