Chapter 91 - The Return of Hawks

James walked into the workshop to find Mara and Bellatrix in a stand off arguing with each other while Dago glared at his whiteboard in frustration. James pointed his hand at Dago and a pair of noise proof earphones over his head.

Dago smiled and started working again on the whiteboard. He drew up designs and started writing down ideas for combinations of spell formulas.

"Yo. Shut the hell up for a second." James said coming into the room.

Both females stopped immediately at the tone in his voice. He held up his hand. "What the hell are you two arguing about." He said.

Mara stared at him. "Why is she in here while we're working? It's dangerous."

"I have every right to be here. I was allowed. I just want a moment alone with my mate." Bellatrix said.

"Rights!? Bitch. Who the hell do you think you are." Mara said.

"I am the mate to Dago Malfoy. That is who I am. What remains to be seen is who are you witch." Bellatrix said spitting out the word witch.

James sighed walking past them toward Dago as he wrote down totally ignoring the drama going on behind them. He looked at picture graphic and a series of spells that were listed one part of the armor.

"You've already got it going with the armor." He said.

Dago nodded. "Yep. Mara was working on it until you know who came into the room. I saw you doing your wuxia dancing thing outside. It's very pretty." Dago said with a grin.

James gave Dago a side glared. "You on some bullshit again! I wasn't dancing bro. I was fighting against the elements. My dad was shooting lightning at me from damn sky. I could have been seriously hurt you know." James said.

"Now whose the one that's on some bullshit. You was doing all that spinning and leaping like a ballerina I damn near shit my pants laughing. You ready to work?" Dago said.

"Holy shit bro. Holy shit. Your damn jealousy knows no bounds. I ain't here to work on shit. I came here to rescue your ass from the dangers unfolding before you." James said and took out his wand and started writing down Enchanted Glass House on the whiteboard.

The words disappeared and a message appeared on the white board. Size and dimensions please!

Dago came along side James. "How big do you want it?" He asked James.

"I don't know. What's a topical external size of a green house?" James asked.

Dago bit his lips thinking and then shrugged and took his wand and started writing a question under the message. "Give me a typical metric size for a green house." Dago said and finished writing.

His words disappeared from the board and a new message appeared. Certainly. 240 square meters. Is this an acceptable size for your project?

James wrote "yes" on the whiteboard in response. The words disappeared there was a shifting in the library for second and then it stopped. A message appeared on the whiteboard.

Done. Do you wish all previous wild life elements of lost forest returned to location?"

James frowned and started writing. "No. Update wild life elements to include addition information." He said and the words disappeared followed by a new message appearing.

Confirmed. Possible Location for Enchanted Glass House. Sky realm? Ground floor?

James frowned at the message. He started to write something on the board but Mara laid a hand on his writing hand.

"James do you realize what your doing?" She asked him.

James nodded. "Yes. I'm bringing back another piece of Hawks Landing. It will be risky but I think it's worth the risk if I can bring him back." He said.

"Bring who back?" Mara asked.

"Hawks." James said quietly. "He was created when the forest was made from the song. It's risky but I haven't been able to forget about him." He said.

Mara let go of his hand. "It will be risky. You can't keep him in the enchanted forest. He's to powerful a magical creature to be contained in the forest." She said.

James nodded his head. "I know but if I can do it right this time then it will be enough to have him back and out of my memories about him." He said and then wrote down ground realm as the location. The ground shook violently as something was dropped down onto the ranch.

James went into an apparition and appeared outside next to Angus staring at tall green house sitting between his house and Angus' home.

Angus stared at the building. "You made a green house?" He asked.

James frowned at the metal door entrance to the green house. "It's something a bit more then a green house dad. A lot more." He said.

"Well lead the way. I'm interested to see what you made." Angus said.

James sighed. "This will be the last thing I make dad here. I promise." He said and then opened put his hand to the door handle turned it and opened it outwardly.

The heat inside hit James' face. He walked inside carefully to floor of grass and the sounds of birds and wild life around him. He looked into the distance were two bodies of water and a large rocky mountain with a nesting area.

James frowned walking around inside. He heard the door behind close and heavy boots following him inside. "What do you think dad?"

"James was this place apart of Hawks Landing?" Angus asked.

James waved a casual hand. "Yes and no. It's more of an updated version of the lost forest we made in Hawks Landing." He said and then smiled when he saw a red bird with fly by in the sky greeting him.

Hmm. Congratulations are in order James." Nick Cole said behind him.

James narrowed his eyes and turned to see Nick Cole standing with Angus and Axe as they took in the Enchanted Glass House. "You know, you being isn't a surprise. It took you long enough to break your word. What the hell are you doing here?" He said.

Nick flinched at the open accusation toward him but he shook his head. "Your father called us here after the Calhoun Pride invaded your place. What is the purpose of this place?" He asked.

James grimaced. "I told you already Cole. My people use the tools we have here to study and experiment with magic and-" He said.

"-It's been three years." Nick said sharply. "It took you three years to make this place. Why? I just want a simple answer and the spell you used to create it." He said quietly.

James sighed. "I used the whiteboard construct to make once I had an idea and image for what this place. It's a containment for magical wild life. Rare magical breeds and-" James said put froze when he heard the loud caw of the thunderbird. "Hawks." He said and turned as he saw the giant thunderbird flaying in the sky of the enchanted glass house before coming to nest in his giant nesting area.

James slowly sat on the grass staring at the bird in wonder. He sat quietly. Angus sat down next him while the others stood studying the enchanted forest around them.

"James with this new development in your advancement in your research project you've jumped started something new and I think it would advisable for you to consider bringing more experienced help." Nick said.

"Get to the point Cole. I can hear the bullshit coming out of your mouth. What do you want?" James said coldly.

Nick ran a hand through his hand roughly. "I want to in bring professional acadimac researchers onto your land to study the creatures here and possible work with Dago in the library to add different perspectives to help. They would be professional researchers only with passion for ideals your promoting here." He said.

"Dad. What do you say?" James asked.

Angus was quiet for a few seconds. "I think we should consider allowing scholars in to help with preserving what you and Dago have built and it would hold off any jealousy or misunderstandings from people with more power into attacking us. You got a family now son and you got to think about using any and all means of protecting them." He said.

James shook his head. "Your the head of our family dad if you think it's the best way to go then we'll go this way." He said.

Angus sighed. "I say we do it. If anything goes south I'll take personal responsibility for anything that happens." He said.

Nick ran a through his hair again. "Angus with your permission I can set up the researchers residency in your land but away from you and your family. They'll work in the library and the green house on a strict schedule. Sense I introduced this idea I will have our people do security." He said.

James snorted in laughter coming to his feet slowly. Nick and Axe came to their at attention. Angus joined him. James and Nick faced each other. "You always seem to get your way Cole." He said.

Nick stared at him. "You cut a deal with the Calhoun were-felines why?" He asked instead of responding to James' words.

James stared at him. "This war you have got going with that jackass has been going on a bit of time. People are getting the impression that I chose you over him. That I'm your dog in your stupid war with him. That ain't the case at all. Your both monsters in my eyes. I'm not your assassin. We have an easy alliance nothing more. I agreed to work with you to keep the peace and your masters out of my face. The Calhoun didn't do shit to me. It's much better to have friends then whole a lot of enemies at my back door and I like the Calhoun and their leader." He said.

"Agreed. However, if the Calhoun should go against that deal by harming one of the owls or their families what then?" Nick asked.

James smiled. "What's in it for you? Okay. As apart of our agreement. I'll hold my end but the Calhoun aren't going to become your foot soldiers. You'll have to find soldiers for your war somewhere else." He said.

Nick narrowed his eyes on James. "You didn't answer my question." He said.

James shook his head. "I said I'll hold up my end of our agreement." He said.

"Your still an owl. You have alliances with us to little brother. You've been in the court for three years now. Everyone now has an idea how you treat those people you regard as your people. The Calhoun got that privilege immediately. The court and our families has yet to be graced with such from you." Axe said.

James glared at the two men. "Then, I guess I'll have to take them all out to keep you shit heads happy if they cross a line with you. Fine. I'll say it. If they harm you or your families then I go against them. That's what you want to hear? Right?" He said.

Axe shook his head. "I didn't say that. I said if the Calhoun are going to enjoy the privilege of being called your people the court is asking the same." He said.

"No. I've kept my end of the bargain between us. I've given you people what you want but I'll be damned if I trust any of you bastards around my woman let alone my children." James said.

Nick stared at him. "What have we done at all to earn in this timeline over the last three years to warrant that response?" He said.

James glared at him. "Nothing. You've all been kind to my family and even sent gifts when my kids were born." He said.

Axe nodded. "All we're asking is that you judge us on the current timeline of our behavior toward you. If we at any time come at you or break faith you would perfectly be in your rights to come for our throats. I wouldn't fight you. If you can forgo or forgive certain individuals from their actions in another timeline. All we're asking is that you give us the same chance. Nothing more." He said.

James stared at them. "Bellatrix. Your saying all this bullshit sense I didn't kill her. Her situation was completely different. The asshole standing with you used her-" He said.

"We already know all that." Nick said quietly. "Are you going to kill her for what she did?" He said.

James stared at him. "No. I'm not a murder and she hasn't done anything to Dago or anyone yet. You don't-" He said.

"-I'm asking you to give us a chance to start over." Nick said. "I was told what happened and I've had enough time to figure out how to avoid the missteps I made. I'm not asking for complete trust yet but the owls want you to draw in closer into the ranks and get closer." Nick said.

James stared at him. "Are you insane?! I can't trust you." He said.

Nick stared at him. "Tell me why!" He said.

James stared at Nick. "I trusted and admired you once. I allowed you and the owls into my personal space. You set my dreams on fire. Everything I loved that I worked for vanished in an instant. I never had the power to hold it or keep it. You took it away because someone else ordered you to destroy me because I was a threat to your power. It was all a joke. The heir of Merlin was defeated by the mighty Nick Cole in less then a single day. All I've ever asked of you people is to leave me alone. I never asked you to make me owl in your court." He said.

Nick stared at him. "This is a different timeline with different outcomes. Your important to the owls. We care about you. We truly do want you to succeed. All I'm asking for is a chance to make things right. I am not the Nick who failed you and set fire to your dreams and future of our people. I'm a different Nick as you are not the same James Potter. You have grown stronger in spite of the pain and loss you have endured." He said.

James looked away toward Hawks who was nesting in his nest a distance away. He sighed and looked at Nick. "Your stronger then me. You have the right to do what you like and your my elder. I can't stop you yet. I don't have the power. I probably never will as long as your alive. So I have to give way to you. You want into my personal space. You got it. You and your owls are free to here as you please." He said.

Nick shook his head. "No. We are owls. Brothers of the night. We are not trying to dominant you into submitting to us. I promised you that I would do everything in my power to insure things are different. I have done so and I will continue to do so." He said.

"James." Angus said.

James looked at Angus. He said nothing.

Angus stared at him. "I promise you. The whole court knows. That if they break faith for any reason other then us coming against them openly I will burn their court to the ground and Nick along side it." He said.

James smiled sadly shaking his head. He looked around the Enchanted forest. "I took a chance bringing this place back just see Hawks fly again. I don't regret what it's cost me." He said.

"There's nothing to regret." Nick said. "You're only doing what you were born to do. We haven't beaten you or rubbed you of any power you gained over the years. We only want to take part in your growth as you rise as the Heir of Merlin and the man of the mists." He said.

James sighed. "On a day by day basis. I'll trust you and the owls." He said.
