I have been in this world for almost a year now and I have mastered all the spells from the first year and some spells from the second year books. I also looked into books regarding wandmaking and all I am lacking at this point is magical creature parts and the wood to begin the practice of creating my future wand. If I am unable to find a suitable magical creature for my wand before the events of the movie, my only option is to wait until the unicorn arrives to save Yvaine. It seems that similar to the Harry Potter universe, Unicorns are still solitary creatures and are rare to be seen in the world.
The only upside is that they aren't hunted for their horns, so they are actually plentiful in this world and I only need to locate their nesting grounds. I have been waiting to move from my current cabin in the woods to discover where in the world I am in, all I have noticed is that I am most likely in Stormhold.
I don't have much basis on why I believe it to be where I am, it just is a feeling. When I first used magic here, it felt almost like there was a charged atmosphere around me. I could only attribute that to magic being around me, and the other world doesn't have magic, at least, not that I know of.
Since I have a long time until I master even the basics of the magic of the Harry Potter universe, I haven't even thought about when I would begin to delve into the magic of this world, I know it has some pretty powerful magic, but a majority of what I remember of the world's magic from the movie is that it is very similar to Transfiguration, charms, and an assortment of magical items. Like as shown in the Harry Potter universe.
And then there is the obscure magic that stars seems to have in this universe as they can take the form of a human body and have the characteristics of a star in their human forms as long as certain conditions are met.
The magic that I seemed to take to very well was actually charms, all the different spells that are very convenient for living alone, I made sure to learn. I learned the cooking charm, cleaning charm, and some planting spells to help grow plants.
I also made sure to learn healing spells I am sure I would eventually come into a point in my new life where I or someone I meet, would be injured, this helps to solve that. I was honestly very interested in healing magic, how it actually works, and it's other applications.
I mean is it using something like the law of life to allow for the body to heal or is it using the surrounding energy to fuse into the body and force itself to heal. Thoughts like these sometimes inhibit my magic studies and I wish I could actually go to Hogwarts to ask such questions to the professors or others who would also be studying magic.
Unfortunately, I am all alone in this world and I will have to learn these things myself. I have also made good progress on many different combat oriented spells as I even skipped to other textbooks from other years to find powerful combat spells such as Diffindo, the cutting charm. I learned the stunning spell, Disarming spell, the explosion spell, Bombarda, varying forms of levitation spells such as levicorpus, levioso, and the summoning charm.
All of these spells have combat applications and although the spells such as Bombarda, and Diffindo are not very strong as they are very advanced spells so I am not very proficient in wandlessly casting them, let alone silent casting, I am getting better and better everyday and who knows I may just discard using a wand unless I feel it would be a good way to trick my enemies, they would only see me able to cast magic with the wand and they would be tricked into thinking they have beaten me because they took my wand.
Yes, it's decided. I will only make my wand right before I decide to explore this world, that way I will be able to become very proficient in wandless casting. It's even better since none of the individuals in this universe that use magic, need to use a focus such as a wand to use magic
I am actually very glad that I learned many of those utility spells, especially the Mending Spell. Apparently the dummies do repair themselves, but it takes a couple hours as they need to absorb the ambient magic to activate the repair function.
Honestly I plan to use the Mending Spell quite a lot as it is essentially rudimentary time magic, and it would be a staple for my future of learning more powerful time magic. I plan to analyze the spell extensively. All of this magic research, however, will take place mostly once I have mastered all the magics of the remaining years both wandlessly and silently.
I am sure that it will take me quite a long time and I just hope I can master all the available magic before I end up dying once I hit 100 I don't imagine I can live much longer. Wizards will gradually strengthen their bodies from the magic that is contained within them as they age and get more proficient with their magic.
I have found out something about my magic in my time in this world that I believe is different from the Harry Potter universe's magic. From my practice, I have discovered that my magic is actually like a muscle, the more I use it, the stronger it gets, so everyday I use my magic until I pass out from magic exhaustion and the simply rinse and repeat. Sure, I always wake up with a headache, but as my magic grows, I can see that the pain lessens slightly after every growth.
From what I know about the magic of the Harry Potter universe, their magic simply grows as they get older, similar to how they have a burst of magic when they have a magical maturity at age eleven. I don't think I remember anything about the magic being like a muscle. Now, I could be wrong, it could be exactly like that in the Harry Potter universe, but unfortunately all I know is what I have discovered myself, so everything else is simply conjecture.
I had already thought about using Alchemy to try to find a way, but the Sorcerer's Stone doesn't exist in this world, so that option is out. All that I can do now is study as much magic as possible, get as strong as possible, and hope that I will be able to find a way to prolong my life in the future.
